Kanne

Kanne (Limburgish: Kan) is a village in the municipality of Riemst in the southeastern part of the Belgian province of Limburg. The town has 1156 inhabitants of which a significant part have the Dutch nationality.

Location

Kanne is situated right on the border with the city of Maastricht in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is also on the border with the Walloon municipality of Visé. Kanne is situated in the valley of the river Geer (Dutch: Jeker) between Cannerberg (part of the Hesbaye Plateau) in the west and Mount Saint Peter (Caestert Plateau) in the east. The village is also situated on the Albert Canal, at the western end of the canal's passage through Mount Saint Peter.

History

The name Kanne ("Cannes") was mentioned first in a document of 965. In 1079 it was referred to as apud Kanne. The meaning of the name is not known.

Kanne consists of two part: Opkanne ("Upper Kanne") and Neercanne ("Lower Kanne"). Opkanne belonged in 965 to the chapter of Saint Martin's church in Liège. In 1391 the Van den Bosch family owned Opkanne. Their castle in Opkanne, Castle Harff, stood near present-day Bovenstraat. In 1486 Gijs (Guy) van den Bosch, lord of Opkanne and a companion of William I de La Marck, was murdered by an angry mob in Liège. Neercanne was always privately owned. From 1794 till 1843 the two parts of Kanne were briefly united but they were separated again as a result of the Treaty of London (1839).

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (English: I, too, am a Rowdy) is a 2015 Indian Tamil black comedy-action film written and directed by Vignesh Shivan. Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara are in the lead roles. Produced by actor Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, the film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film was shot in Puducherry and Chennai over 75 days. It was released on 21 October 2015, receiving positive reviews from critics and became a profitable venture at the box office. The film dubbed into telugu as "Nenu Rowdy Ne"

Plot

Paandian aka 'Pondy' Paandi (Vijay Sethupathi) is the son of a Puducherry-based police inspector P.Meena Kumari (Raadhika Sarathkumar). Despite being a police inspector's son, he grew up being friendly with the criminals behind bars and on reaching adulthood, unknown to his mother, he becomes a rowdy, though an incompetent one.

Paandi comes across a deaf girl Kadhambari (Nayantara) and immediately falls in love with her. Kadhambari is the daughter of a sincere police officer Ravikumar (Azhagam Perumal), who is in pursuit of Killivallavan aka Killi (Parthiban), a dreaded gangster and politician who had killed Ravikumar's wife and had caused Kadhambari to lose her hearing in her childhood. Kadhambari seeks Paandi's help in finding her father, who has not spoken to her for the past two days, to which he agrees. Paandi soon finds out that Ravikumar had been killed by Killi, but hides the matter from Kadhambari as it would make her upset. But Kadhambari finds out about her father's death anyway and is determined to avenge his death by going after Killi and killing him. Paandi agrees to help her in her mission, with the promise that "he will hold Killi's shoulders while she stabs him".

Vignesh Shivan

Vignesh Shivan is an Indian film director, actor and lyric writer who works in Tamil cinema. He has been regularly associated in projects involving Silambarasan, Dhanush and Anirudh Ravichander, as well as helming independent music videos.

Early life

Vignesh Shivan is the child of two police officers; his father worked as a superintendent, while his mother works as an inspector in Vadapalani. He studied in Santhome Hr Sec School, Mylapore. He is also a junior of Simbu (Silambarasan) in his school.

Career

Vignesh Shivan made a short film and after getting Dharan to compose music for it; showed the film to producers, Gemini Film Circuit, and then to his childhood friend, Silambarasan and both parties agreed to collaborate to make it a feature film titled Podaa Podi (2012). The joint producers of the film, Shanaya Telefilms, released a series of posters in June 2008 publicising the film, while Silambarasan and Vignesh toured in Canada scouting for locations and agreeing a deal with Mayor Ron Stevens to film in Orillia and Toronto. The film languished in production for close to four years, before finally releasing in October 2012 to mixed reviews. He then continued to be active in films by working as a lyricist, filming independent music videos and appearing in an acting role as an engineer in Velaiyilla Pattathari (2014).

Wunderbar Films

Wunderbar Films is an Indian film production studio established by actor Dhanush, director Aishwarya R. Dhanush and music composer Anirudh Ravichander . Formed in 2010, it has since gone on to produce several Tamil language films. Wunderbar means wonderful in German. The actor and music composer duo coined their production company name as Wunderbar after being amused by the word, from seeing the film Inglourious Basterds.
