28 mm film was introduced by the Pathé Film Company in 1912 under the name Pathé Kok. Geared toward the home market, 28 mm utilized diacetate film stock rather than the flammable nitrate commonly used in 35 mm. The film gauge was deliberately chosen such that it would be uneconomical to slit 35 mm nitrate film.
Pathé in France and later Victor in the USA printed reduction prints (usually, although not always, abridged) of popular films for home rental, designed to be used in Pathéscope Cinematograph or Victor Animatograph projectors. World War I stopped European production of 28 mm. It continued in North America until 1920 before ceasing entirely. Shortly after, 9.5 mm and 16 mm would take the amateur film gauge role 28 mm had once filled.

Carl Zeiss (German pronunciation: [ˌkaʁl ˈtsaɪs]) is a German manufacturer of optical systems, industrial measurements and medical devices, founded in Jena, Germany in 1846 by optician Carl Zeiss. Together with Ernst Abbe (joined 1866) and Otto Schott (joined 1884) they built a base for modern optics and manufacturing. There are currently two parts of the company, Carl Zeiss AG located in Oberkochen with important subsidiaries in Aalen, Göttingen and Munich, and Carl Zeiss GmbH located in Jena.
Carl Zeiss AG is the premier company of the Zeiss Gruppe, one of the two large divisions of the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung. The Zeiss Gruppe is located in Heidenheim and Jena. Also controlled by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung are the glass manufacturers Schott AG and Jenaer Glas, located in Mainz and Jena respectively. Carl Zeiss is one of the oldest existing optics manufacturers in the world.
Carl Zeiss opened an optics workshop in Jena in 1846. By 1847 he was making microscopes full-time. By 1861 Zeiss was considered to be among the best scientific instrument makers in Germany with about 20 people working under him with his business still growing. By 1866 the Zeiss workshop sold their 1,000th microscope. In 1872 physicist Ernst Abbe joined Zeiss and along with Otto Schott designed greatly improved lenses for the optical instruments they were producing. After Carl Zeiss's death in 1888, the business was incorporated as the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung in 1889.
The Canon FD lens mount is a physical standard for connecting a photographic lens to a 35mm single-lens reflex camera body. The standard was developed by Canon of Japan and was introduced in March 1971 with the Canon F-1 camera. It served as the Canon SLR interchangeable lens mounting system until the 1987 introduction of the Canon EOS series cameras, which use the newer EF lens mount. The FD mount lingered through the release of the 1990 Canon T60, the last camera introduced in the FD system, and the end of the Canon New F-1 product cycle in 1992.
The FD mount was based upon and replaced Canon's earlier FL mount (which in turn had replaced the R mount); FD-mount cameras can use FL lenses in stop-down metering mode. Though never officially explained by Canon, others have attempted to assign a meaning to the "FD" designation. One such attempt states that the "FD" notation stands for "Focal-plane shutter with Dual linkage for diaphragm control"; in actuality, there were two linkages and two signals: the automatic aperture lever, aperture signal lever, full aperture signal pin, and automatic exposure lock pin. This is twice the previous lens series, which used the "FL" designation, said to mean "Focal-plane shutter, Linked mount."

We take a look at Nikon's latest 28(http://bit.ly/28mmNikkor), which is an AF-S lens. Nikon shooters haven't exactly been spoilt for choice with 28mm primes, so this is good news, right? We head to Little Havana in Miami, Florida to test out the "new" Leica 28mm Summaron-M (http://leicastoremiami.com/products/leica-summaron-m-28mm-f-5-6). REVIEWING TODAY! There's some interest in the Canon 28mm f/1.8 lens, especially as it's a potentially nice, leave-on-your-camera fast standard lens for APS-C cameras. Some people really like it, although it seems to have mixed reviews on the internet. I wonder if this little beast can kick some ass as I put it through a few tests. The Vivitar 28mm F1.9 was sold in the 70's for 1000$... i bought it for 20! this lens is pretty hard to find but it's a fantastic piece. I took it with me on a trip to Sweden for a review, and i really liked the results. At f1.9 it's the fastest 28mm wide angle lens ever made, the only other brand to have produced an equivalent was the Voigtländer Ultron 28mm f/1.9 that costed way more thant this one. having the possibility to open the diaphragm so wide make shooting in low light and creating environmental portraits a pleasure. I paid 20 euros for it but price can be higher right now as it's a rare lens. In this highly detailed review of the Sony FE 28mm f/2 Lens I will do my best to show you what it is capable of in the real world and lab. I will first show you the gear and how the conversion lenses mount/ release. Then onto real world sample photos and much more.... The conversion lenses mount on the front of the 28mm lens and basically transform it into a 21mm f/2.8 ultra wide angle lens or a 16mm f/3.5 fisheye lens. I review a top secret lens that you can find for under $30 bucks! I review the Seikanon 28mm f/2.8 lens. This is a much older lens, it has no electronics on it so everything is manually driven. But if you do not mind manual focusing or changing the aperture with the ring, this is a MUST BUY lens. I use this for weddings and for street photography at times and it works like a charm. I looked at faith
I almost walked away
But I looked again
I found the nerve to close my eyes and say the words
To ask you in
And I heard no heavenly choir
No angels in whit attire
i got no amazing super hum omnipresent pow but....
CHORUS
I know You now
I know You now
I know You're in my heart
I know You now
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
I know You now
I look at peace, that once was out of reach
And now it's here
i read Your word that some believe is so absurd
But I hold dear, yea
'Cause You loved me with your dying breath
You saved me when You conquered death
