Overview
What we do
UNDP is the United Nations' global development agency. We work in nearly 170 countries to provide knowledge, experience, and resources to help create country-owned solutions to global and national challenges. UNDP manages the UN development system, ensuring greater UN coherence at the country level. Funded entirely through voluntary contributions, UNDP manages an annual budget of some US$5 billion, including roughly US$1 billion of core resources that support basic program activities, technical expertise, and the global country networks needed to deliver worldwide programming.
Our goals
UNDP focuses upon helping countries build and share solutions to promote Democratic Governance, Sustainable Development, Crisis Prevention and Recovery, Poverty Reduction and the Millennium Development Goals. UNDP also helps developing countries attract and use aid effectively. We encourage the protection of human rights, capacity development and the empowerment of women in all UNDP activities throughout the world.
