Detroit’s DJ icon Carl Craig is creative visionary, groundbreaking electronic artist, esteemed Grammy-nominated composer, entrepreneur, civic leader… Craig is the “renaissance man” of electronic music. Yet the common thread that runs through Craig’s broad musical canon and creative projects is a resounding fascination with futurism. He released his first track in 1989, but craving broader artistic freedom, founded his own label Planet-E two years later. Craig released a diverse range of music under a number of monikers, including Innerzone Orchestra, under which he gave the world the gift of his single “Bug in the Bassbin” and for that is credited as the spark that inspired the evolution of drum‘n’bass. He has collaborated live with Les siècles orchestra at Cité de la Musique in Paris. A meeting of techno and classical music, the concert was described as “historical” and resulted in the album “Versus”, released last year to rave reviews from critics. He remixed for respected names such as LCD Soundsystem, Tori Amos, Goldfrapp, Tiga and Unkle. This techno great summed up his philosophy and artistry by saying: “I can work with concert pianists, jazz musicians or rock guys. Very few people have that range of interests. Very few people juggle a career that they choose specifically.” No one else can pull it all together quite like Carl Craig. EXIT is the two-time winner of the “Best Major European Festival” award along with the continuous recognition by the global music stars, fans and media alike. Held each year at the 18th Century colossal Petrovaradin Fortress in the city of Novi Sad in Serbia, EXIT started as a student movement whose massive protests brought down the oppressive regime in Serbia. EXIT became the first mass event to gather all the people in Balkans after a long decade of divisions.
