Interactive art is a form of art that involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose. Some interactive art installations achieve this by letting the observer or visitor "walk" in, on, and around them; some others ask the artist or the spectators to become part of the artwork.
Works of this kind of art frequently feature computers, interfaces and sometimes sensors to respond to motion, heat, meteorological changes or other types of input their makers programmed them to respond to. Most examples of virtual Internet art and electronic art are highly interactive. Sometimes, visitors are able to navigate through a hypertext environment; some works accept textual or visual input from outside; sometimes an audience can influence the course of a performance or can even participate in it. Some other interactive artworks are considered as immersive as the quality of interaction involve all the spectrum of surrounding stimuli. Virtual reality environnements like works by Maurice Benayoun and Jeffrey Shaw are highly interactive as the work the spectators - Maurice Benayoun call them "visitors", Char Davies "immersants" - interact with take all their fields of perception.
The Creators is a non-fiction work of cultural history by Daniel Boorstin published in 1992 and is the second volume in what has become known as the Knowledge Trilogy. It was preceded by The Discoverers and succeeded by The Seekers.
The Creators, subtitled A History of Heroes of the Imagination, is the story of mankind's creativity. It highlights great works of art, music and literature but it is more than a recitation or list. It is a book of ideas and the people behind those ideas. It encompasses architecture, music, literature, painting, sculpture, the performing arts, theater, religious expression and philosophy. It can be viewed as a companion to The Discoverers which chronicled the history of invention, exploration and technology. The Creators traces the creative process from pre-history Egypt to modern times and like The Discoverers, follows both a topical and chronological structure. Boorstin writes in "A Personal Note to the Reader", "After The Discoverers... "I was more than ever convinced that the pursuit of knowledge is only one path to human fulfillment. This companion book, also a view from the literate West, is a saga of Heroes of the Imagination. While The Discoverers told of the conquest of illusions - the illusion of knowledge - this will be a story of vision (and illusions) newly created..." If The Discoverers is the story of the inventive human mind then The Creators is the story of the searching soul. The work is in twelve major parts that have been grouped into four books.

LINES is an interactive sound art exhibition created by Swedish composer Anders Lind in 2016. Lines attached to the wall, on the floor and hanging from the ceiling in combination with sensors and electronics are forming three novel music instruments. No musical experiences are required to perform, while the well-experienced musician or composer finds new musical challenges and opportunities with the instruments. The ambition with LINES is to enable: new forms of musical interaction, an exploration of new artistic expressions and to provide unique and inspiring musical experiences. The videoclip is taken from Västerbotttens Museum in Umeå 2016. www.soundslikelind.se
I worked on inhuman with my brother Michael Colegate as part of his artist residency with Canvas and Cream Art Gallery / Studios. The installation is all Michael's design, where as I helped with modelling and technically details like setting up. The projection is made interactive using a Microsoft Kinect, the sculpture rotates at varying speed and direction dependent on where you touch the wall comparatively to the sculpture.

Director Chris Milk is a pioneer of interactive experiences, whether they live on the web like The Wilderness Downtown and Rome: 3 Dreams of Black, or in real life like Arcade Fire's Coachella 2011 performance Summer Into Dust. Milks' latest project The Treachery of Sanctuary debuted at The Creators Project: San Francisco 2012 and will be traveling the world to all our 2012 events. This new piece is a giant triptych that takes viewers through three stages of flight through the use of Kinect controllers and infrared sensors. We spoke with Milk, Creative Director Ben Tricklebank, and the artwork's programming team to find out how they managed to bring everything together to ultimately allow people to lose themselves for a second. While museums around the world are putting a lockdown on selfie sticks, a museum in the Philippines wants visitors to be part of the art on display. Art in Island, located in a former bus station in Manila, capitalizes on the city's reputation as the Selfie Capital of the World with modified versions of famous works of art. The idea is for visitors to literally make themselves part of the picture. Blyth Cambaya, corporate secretary of Art in Island, said, "Here, art paintings are not complete if you are not with them.. if you don't take pictures with them." American tourist Jenna Eliel praised the museum's non-traditional approach. "You have to be very serious in other museums. [In] this museum, you can really just let your goofy side out." http://www.mashable.com LIKE us on FACEBOOK:...

Hello fellow poopsies! In this interactive ASMR roleplay, I am creating interaction between the ‘artist’ and the ‘viewer’ to test out some triggers, which includes Seltzer water (club soda) fizzing, rice in a container, plastic bag crinkles, soft spoken voice, whispered voice, and black marker on paper sounds. The goal is to see how you, as the viewer, in this interaction, reacts to each of the triggers. Hope you enjoy this concept. Time table for each trigger listed here: 00:53 – 05:17 Black marker on paper 05:36 – 07:54 Whisper ear to ear 08:20 – 12:25 Brown rice in a container 13:10 – 17:15 Seltzer water / club soda fizzing 17:26 – 19:45 Soft spoken ear to ear 21:00 – 23:53 Plastic bag crinkling crinkles Check out the last video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiDzbjiUNF8 Check it ...

Kate Reed has a vision for elevating the less talked about parts of ourselves, and of society. Through her art she wants people to think about a part of themselves that makes them feel invisible, and to anonymously share that with the community around them. The mechanism for this is Invisible, a campaign to place translucent sculptures in public places around the world. The approach that she has taken to the project is very interesting -- she's giving the art away to empower the campaign. Check out her talk from the Hackaday SuperConference. PyData Berlin 2016 I will dismantle the guts of an interactive multiplayer brain data driven installation we made last year. It uses Python modules to handle data from the users to create a new experiences every time. I will discuss the benefits of using Python with visual programming to create very complex experiences quickly, which can be useful for interactive art and science experiments alike. Abstract TouchDesigner is a visual programming software made by a company called Deriviative. I use this software with Python to make complex interactive installations which are hybrid of art and science. I use the same technique to make science experiments so the lab can test the validity of neurofeedback paradigms. I want to share some of the techniques I used in our brain driven installati...
