G. Madhavan Nair
G. Madhavan Nair (Malayalam: ജി. മാധവന് നായര്; born October 31, 1943) is the former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation and Secretary to the Department of Space, Government of India since September 2003 and was also the Chairman, Space Commission. He was succeeded by K. Radhakrishnan. He was also the Chairman of Governing Body of the Antrix Corporation, Bangalore. Madhavan Nair was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour, on January 26, 2009. He also served as the Chairman, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Technology Patna until he stepped down voluntarily due to his alleged involvement in Antrix-Devas deal.
Early life
Nair was born at Kulashekharam, Kanyakumari, India in an Middle Class Nair Family. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Engineering (1966) from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, of the University of Kerala with specialization in Electronics & Communication Engineering. After his graduation, Nair attended a training program at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) Training School, Mumbai.

Talking about ISRO’s ‘Aditya-L1’ mission, former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair on August 28 expressed joy and called it a ‘logical step’ after Chandrayaan-3. “I'm happy to learn that Aditya-L1 launch is scheduled for September 2 from Sriharikota...This is a logical step after the Chandrayaan-3 mission, to study more about the Sun and its various phenomena happening on the solar surface and its effect on the Earth, is the goal set for the Aditya mission. The whole setup was then sent into sleep mode (on September 2, the rover went to sleep, while the lander did so on September 4), citing the harsh cold conditions that developed on the lunar surface due to the lack of sunlight. India is going to the Moon. Again. Four years after the Chandrayaan-2 mission ended in part failure, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is making another attempt to land on the Moon. Later this evening, the Chandrayaan-3 mission's Vikram lander, currently in orbit around the Moon, will begin a slow, calculated descent on to the lunar surface.
The landing sequence will begin around 5:45 pm and will last for around a quarter of an hour, a period that a former Isro chief has described as "15 minutes of terror".

Talking about ISRO’s ‘Aditya-L1’ mission, former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair on August 28 expressed joy and called it a ‘logical step’ after Chandrayaan-3. “I'm happy to learn that Aditya-L1 launch is scheduled for September 2 from Sriharikota...This is a logical step after the Chandrayaan-3 mission, to study more about the Sun and its various phenomena happening on the solar surface and its effect on the Earth, is the goal set for the Aditya mission. A set of instruments are going to be placed in the lagrangian point, nearly 1.5 million km away from the earth and it will be continuously observing the solar surface,” said G Madhavan Nair.

After a historic 'soft landing' on what is considered a tough task – the south pole of the Moon – Chandrayaan 3 of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is now aiming for a 'bonus' achievement of being revived after its lander Vikram, and rover Pragyan, worked for a good 14 Earth days. The whole setup was then sent into sleep mode (on September 2, the rover went to sleep, while the lander did so on September 4), citing the harsh cold conditions that developed on the lunar surface due to the lack of sunlight. G. Madhavan Nair
G. Madhavan Nair (Malayalam: ജി. മാധവന് നായര്; born October 31, 1943) is the former Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation and Secretary to the Department of Space, Government of India since September 2003 and was also the Chairman, Space Commission. He was succeeded by K. Radhakrishnan. He was also the Chairman of Governing Body of the Antrix Corporation, Bangalore. Madhavan Nair was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour, on January 26, 2009. He also served as the Chairman, Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Technology Patna until he stepped down voluntarily due to his alleged involvement in Antrix-Devas deal.
Early life
Nair was born at Kulashekharam, Kanyakumari, India in an Middle Class Nair Family. He graduated with a B.Sc. in Engineering (1966) from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, of the University of Kerala with specialization in Electronics & Communication Engineering. After his graduation, Nair attended a training program at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) Training School, Mumbai.
