Lamborghini Aventador

The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer Lamborghini.

Launched on 28 February 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show, five months after its initial unveiling in Sant'Agata Bolognese, the vehicle, internally codenamed LB834, was designed to replace the ten-year-old Murciélago as the new flagship model.

Soon after the Aventador unveiling, Lamborghini announced that it had already sold over 12 of the production vehicles, with deliveries starting in the second half of 2011. By June 2013, Lamborghini had already built 2,000 Aventadors, taking two years to achieve this milestone.

Background

In keeping with Lamborghini tradition, the Aventador is also named after a fighting bull. Aventador (pronounced: [aβentaˈðoɾ]) was a bull that fought particularly valiantly in the bull ring of Zaragoza, Spain in 1993. The bull which the Aventador is named after earned the Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera for its courage in the arena.

Ferrari 458

The Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engined sports car produced by the Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. The 458 replaced the Ferrari F430, and was first officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It is replaced by the Ferrari 488 GTB, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2015.

Specifications

In Ferrari's first official announcement of the car, the 458 was described as the successor to the F430 but arising from an entirely new design, incorporating technologies developed from the company's experience in Formula 1.

The body computer system was developed by Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting.

Engine

The 458 is powered by a 4,499 cc (274.5 cu in) V8 engine of the "Ferrari/Maserati" F136 engine family, producing 570 PS (419 kW; 562 hp) at 9,000 rpm (redline) and 540 N·m (398 lb·ft) at 6,000 rpm with 80% torque available at 3,250 rpm. The engine features direct fuel injection, which is a first for Ferrari mid-engine setups in its road cars.

Transmission

The only transmission available on the 458 is a dual-clutch 7-speed GETRAG gearbox, in a different state of tune shared with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. There is no traditional manual option, making this the fourth road-car after the Enzo, Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia not to be offered with Ferrari's classic gated manual. It is the first mainstream model to not be offered with a manual transmission.

Top Marques Monaco

Top Marques Monaco is an event that takes place annually at the Grimaldi Forum in the principality of Monaco. It features exhibitions by numerous purveyors of luxury aircraft, automobile, banking, boat, footwear, handbag, jewellery, real estate and wine products. One feature of the Top Marques Monaco that sets it apart from other automotive exhibitions is its use of the adjacent Formula 1 Grand Prix racetrack to display cars in action and conduct test drives. A quarter of the event's ticket sales are donated to Monaco Aide et Présence, a charity established by Monaco's reigning Prince Albert.

Sales during the event totalled US$600 million (446 million euros). The entrance fee was 50 euros.

2011

At the four-day 2011 event, there were 42 automotive manufacturers exhibiting luxury vehicles, 13 manufacturers exhibiting luxury yachts and other boats, and 26 jewelry manufacturers exhibiting watches. Exhibitors included Bugatti, Dartz,Exagon Engineering,Gillet, GTA Motor, Koenigsegg, Noble Automotive, Pagani, and Peraves. Six cars made their European debuts, including the Conquest Knight XV SUV and the Keating ZKR. A hundred cars were on display, of which more than two dozen were available for test drives. The entrance fee was 50 euros. Attendance was 33,000 people from twelve countries.

Nissan GT-R

The Nissan GT-R is a 2-door 2+2 sports car produced by Nissan and unveiled in 2007. It is the successor to the Nissan Skyline GT-R although no longer part of the Skyline range itself.

History

Between 1969 and 1974, and again between 1989 and 2002, Nissan produced a high performance version of its Skyline sedan called the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car proved to be iconic for Nissan and achieved much fame and success on both road and track. The Nissan GT-R, although no longer carrying the "Skyline" badge, has heritage in the Nissan Skyline GT-R, which was only available in the United States as a grey market car.

Similar to the later generations of the Skyline GT-Rs, the Nissan GT-R is four-wheel drive with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine and has the signature four round tail lights. However, the GT-R is an entirely new model sharing little with its Skyline siblings and is a complete redesign from previous Skylines rather than an incremental evolution; the four-wheel-steering HICAS system has been removed and the former straight-6 RB26DETT engine has been replaced with a new V6 VR38DETT. Because of the GT-R's heritage, the chassis code for the all-new version has been called CBA-R35, or 'R35' for short (where CBA is the prefix for emission standard), carrying on the naming trend from previous Skyline GT-R generations. The GT-R has also retained its Skyline predecessor's nickname Godzilla, given to it by the Australian motoring publication Wheels in its July 1989 edition.
