Bury St Edmunds is a market town in Suffolk, England.Bury St Edmunds Abbey is near the town centre. Bury is the seat of the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, with the episcopal see at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
The town, originally called Beodericsworth, was built on a grid pattern by Abbot Baldwin around 1080. It is known for brewing and malting (Greene King brewery) and for a British Sugar processing factory, where Silver Spoon sugar is produced. The town is the cultural and retail centre for West Suffolk and tourism is a major part of the economy.
Bury St Edmunds is represented in Parliament by Conservative Jo Churchill who was elected at the 2015 General Election.
The name Bury is etymologically connected with borough, which has cognates in other Germanic languages such as the German "burg" meaning "fortress, castle"; Old Norse "borg" meaning "wall, castle"; and Gothic "baurgs" meaning "city". They all derive from Proto-Germanic *burgs meaning "fortress". This in turn derives from the Proto-Indo-European root *bhrgh meaning "fortified elevation", with cognates including Welsh bera ("stack") and Sanskrit bhrant- ("high, elevated building"). There is thus no justification for the folk etymology stating that the Cathedral Town was so called because St Edmund was buried there.
St Edmund's is a Roman Catholic primary school for boys and girls aged 4–11 located on the junction where the Hertford Road meets Bounces Road in Edmonton, north London, United Kingdom. The school was built in 1912.
The church is directly opposite the school and finished in the same white coursed stone. Built between 1905-1907 by Edward Doran Webb and founded in 1903 by Redemptorist priests.

I often get asked how the driving test works, so in this video I drive one of the full test routes from the Bury St Edmunds driving test centre. I include a manoeuvre, emergency stop and independent driving just like a real test so you can see how everything works. There are 20 different test routes at each driving test centre, so the roads used could vary considerably from the route I used. Depending on the time of day, the level of traffic and other hazards could make your test more challenging, so you need to be sure that you can drive safely no matter what you come across. We have filmed several of the more difficult junctions on the route separately, so if you would like a more detailed look at these places then have a look at these videos; Three point turn: https://youtu.be/Ruyv...

The driving video starts as we travel away from junction 43 of the A14, behind the sugar factory. As this short dual carriageway is curved I would keep speed to approx 50 mph (in good conditions) and look ahead to spot the road sign for the next roundabout. It shows that Diss is a right turn, 3rd exit so carefully change lanes to the right and slow early for the roundabout. As you drive around the roundabout follow the road markings as they guide you to your exit. Bury St. Edmunds is a great not-so-little town located in Suffolk. There is something for everyone here, and we all strongly recommend that you check it it out! It's certainly worth a look. It is very easily accessible, as well. Just hop on a national express train headings towards London from the Norwich station, change at either Ipswich or Stowmarket (we chose to change at Ipswich) and hop on a train heading towards Cambridge and get off at Bury St. Edmunds. Total travel time is about one hour, not including waiting for and transferring trains. Check out our PowerPoint presentation for more information on the town. Thanks, and enjoy! - Patsy McNeil, Andrew Russell and Anya Settle
