List of Haruhi Suzumiya albums

This is a list of albums attributed to the anime adaptation The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya based on the Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series. There have been three soundtrack singles released for the anime containing the opening, ending, and insert songs featured in the anime series. Three radio drama CDs were released, along with a single which contained the theme songs to the radio dramas. A drama CD was also produced and the final track on the CD contained an original music track. There are nine additional character song albums sung by the voice actors for not only the five main characters in the series, but four other minor characters were also given mini albums.

Bōken Desho Desho?

"Bōken Desho Desho?" (冒険でしょでしょ？, Bōken Desho Desho?, lit. "It's an adventure, right? Right?") is the opening theme to the Japanese anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, as well as the movie, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. It ranked #10 in CD sales on amazon.co.jp when the single was released.

God bless you

God bless you (variants include God bless or bless you) is a common English expression, used to wish a person blessings in various situations, especially as a response to a sneeze, and also, when parting or writing a valediction.

The phrase has been used in the Hebrew Bible by Jews (cf. Numbers 6:24), and by Christians, since the time of the early Church as a benediction, as well as a means of bidding a person Godspeed. Many clergy, when blessing their congregants individually or corporately, use the phrase "God bless you".

National Geographic reports that during the plague of AD 590, "Pope Gregory I ordered unceasing prayer for divine intercession. Part of his command was that anyone sneezing be blessed immediately ("God bless you"), since sneezing was often the first sign that someone was falling ill with the plague." By AD 750, it became customary to say "God bless you" as a response to one sneezing.

Origins and legends

The practice of blessing someone who sneezes, dating as far back as at least AD 77, however is far older than most specific explanations can account for. Some have offered an explanation suggesting that people once held the folk belief that a person's soul could be thrown from their body when they sneezed, that sneezing otherwise opened the body to invasion by the Devil or evil spirits, or that sneezing was the body's effort to force out an invading evil presence. In these cases, "God bless you" or "bless you" is used as a sort of shield against evil. The Irish Folk story "Master and Man" by Thomas Crofton Croker, collected by William Butler Yeats, describes this variation. Moreover, in the past some people may have thought that the heart stops beating during a sneeze, and that the phrase "God bless you" encourages the heart to continue beating.

Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒ, Suzumiya Haruhi) is the general name for a series of light novels written by Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrated by Noizi Ito and which were adapted into other media. Initially released in Japan in 2003 with the novel The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, it was followed by ten additional volumes, an anime television series adaptation, four separate manga series, an animated film, two original net animation series and several video games.

After the anime adaptation airing in 2006, publishing company Kadokawa Shoten received various offers for licensing both the novels and their various adaptations. The novels are licensed for English language release in the United States by Little, Brown and Company, for young readers by Yen Press and the anime adaptation was licensed for North American distribution by Kadokawa Pictures USA division which then sub-licensed production and distribution to Bandai Entertainment. The anime is currently licensed by Funimation.

Plot

List of Haruhi Suzumiya light novels

The Haruhi Suzumiya series of Japanese light novels is written by Nagaru Tanigawa with accompanying illustrations drawn by Noizi Ito. The series centers on the eponymous high school girl Haruhi Suzumiya, her strange antics, and her friends in a club she forms called the SOS Brigade.

The first novel volume was published on June 6, 2003 by Kadokawa Shoten, and as of May 2011, 11 volumes have been published. The first pressing of the tenth and eleventh volumes was a record breaking 513,000 copies.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers licensed the light novels for distribution in English, with the first novel being released in May 2009, along with excerpts from the manga adaptation. The novels in English are available in hardback and paperback editions, the hardback featuring the original manga-style Japanese cover art and the paperback featuring a different design.

The novels have also been licensed for release in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mainland China by Kadokawa Media, in South Korea by Daiwon CI, and in Spain and Argentina by Editorial Ivrea. The tenth and the eleventh volumes were released consecutively in Japan, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea in an "unprecedented worldwide release" with the other licensed countries releasing later.
