Mark Anthony Patrick Owen (born 27 January 1972), is an English singer-songwriter. He is a member of pop-group Take That. As a solo artist, Owen had sold over 500,000 records worldwide and 45 million with Take That.
Owen was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England. He lived in a small council house with his mother Mary, his father Keith, brother Daniel and sister Tracey in Oldham, Lancashire. His father was a decorator, later getting a job at a police station. His mother was a supervisor in a bakery in Oldham. Owen was educated at the Holy Rosary Primary and St Augustine’s Catholic School in Oldham. Owen’s first ambition was to be a professional footballer; he starred in school plays but showed no interest in music at school, preferring football. He played for Chadderton for a brief period. He also had trials for Manchester United, Huddersfield Town and Rochdale, but damaged his groin and was unable to pursue a career in the sport. During the Take That “quiet” years, Owen spent some time back in Lancashire and was often spotted at musical events put on and performed by local boarding school, “Casterton School”. He used the school gymnasium on Tuesday evenings for football practice with mates.

After sharing his eyewitness account with Scott Pelley of how Osama bin Laden was killed, a Navy SEAL faces criminal investigation. The following is a script of "Under Fire" which aired on Nov. 2, 2014. Scott Pelley is the correspondent. Henry Schuster, producer. When we introduced you to the former Navy SEAL called Mark Owen, two years ago, he told us his riveting first hand account of how Seal Team Six killed Osama bin Laden. It was the tale that he wrote about in his best selling book, "No Easy Day." He told us that he wrote the book to set the record straight and planned to donate most of the profits to charities benefitting families of fallen Navy SEALs. He kept his real name secret expecting to disappear back into the shadows. But that's not how it worked out. This is the story of ...
Mark Owen recorded much of his 2013 album The Art of Doing Nothing in the studio at the end of his garden in London, which he calls 'The Rabbit Hutch'. The video for the first single from the album, Stars, was filmed in Berlin and inspired by the French street artist Victor Ash. The Take That member invited the BBC for a look around his studio. - I filmed and edited this piece, working with a BBC reporter. The copyright remains the BBC's (the Stars video aside, which belongs to Polydor Records). Was really happy with the edit at 01.30 in - snowglobe to spacehelmet.
During an interview with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 1, Mark Owen is caught inspecting his eyelids by the Live Cameras. Cue laughter from Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow.

A good night. Apologies for the appalling image quality/ cameraman-ship...
I set out to wander
Up lonely man street
Where faith and devotion,
I would hopefully meet
I went there with nothing
Packed as light as I could
And you begged me to stay,
Though you knew,
Baby I'm no good
I'll love you forever
You'll stay in my heart
But all that I wanted
Was doomed from the start
I thought you could save me
Well if anyone could
But I knew that you knew all along
Baby I'm no good
Not once was I faithful,
I cheated and lied
I know that you loved me
But my hands, they were tied
I followed the voices
Like a weak man should
And I guess they were right about me,
Baby I'm no good
In the end when I've fallen
Face down in the rain
And you come back to ask me
What I lost, what I gained
I'd probably answer
I did all that I could
But it wasn't that much I'm afraid,
Baby I'm no good
No it wasn't that much I'm afraid
