The 40 mm grenade is a military grenade caliber for grenade launchers in service with many armed forces. There are two main types in service: the 40×46mm, which is a low-velocity round used in hand-held grenade launchers; and the high-velocity 40×53mm, used in mounted and crew-served weapons. The cartridges are not interchangeable. Both 40 mm cartridges use what the US Army during the Vietnam War called the High-Low Propulsion System.
The less powerful 40×46mm is used in hand-held weapons such as the M79, M203, the M320 grenade launcher, and the multi-shot M32 MGL or Zakłady Mechaniczne "Tarnów" SA RGP-40.
The more powerful 40×53mm is used in automatic grenade launchers mounted on tripods, vehicles or helicopters, such as the Mk 19 grenade launcher, the Mk 47 "Striker" 40 mm Grenade Machine Guns (GMGs), the Heckler & Koch GMG or the South African Vektor Y3 AGL. In these roles, the rounds are linked together with a metallic disintegrating link.
A new 40×51mm cartridge recently (2007) developed in South Africa provides a more powerful alternative for hand-held weapons without increased recoil. A new version of the Milkor MGL chambered for the new round remains backward compatible with existing 40×46mm rounds.

The Milkor MGL grenade launcher is manufactured in South Africa, the company Rippel Effect (formerly known as the Milkor Marketing), as well as Milkor USA. MGL stands for Multiple Grenade Launcher. This is a repeating firearm, designed to significantly increase the firepower of a small unit of soldiers compared with conventional grenade launcher at a glance, such as the M203. The MGL is designed to be simple, robust and reliable. Introduced in the military in 1983, MGL was gradually adopted by over 30 countries; he made the evidence of its effectiveness in challenging environments from jungles to deserts. The original MGL was conceived in 1981. Its production started in 1983 for the Defense Force of South Africa, under the designation Y2. It has a barrel six shots and accepts most grenad...
The Bofors 40 mm gun, often referred to simply as the Bofors gun,[1] is an anti-aircraft/multi-purpose autocannon designed in the 1930s by the Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors. It was one of the most popular medium-weight anti-aircraft systems during World War II, used by most of the western Allies as well as by the Axis powers. A small number of these weapons remain in service to this day, and saw action as late as the Gulf War. In the post-war era the original design was not suitable for action against jet powered aircraft, so Bofors introduced a new model of significantly more power, the 40 mm L/70. In spite of sharing almost nothing with the original design other than the calibre and the distinctive conical flash hider, this weapon is also widely known simply as "the Bofors". Altho...

I'm re-visiting a couple of lenses that I reviewwed in the past, before I used standardized testing and a full-frame camera. This should be fun! First up, one of Canon's most popular, and least expensive, pancake lenses. All pictures shot by me on Canon 6D, 60D and EOS M3 cameras. I looked at faith
I almost walked away
But I looked again
I found the nerve to close my eyes and say the words
To ask you in
And I heard no heavenly choir
No angels in whit attire
i got no amazing super hum omnipresent pow but....
CHORUS
I know You now
I know You now
I know You're in my heart
I know You now
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
I know You now
I look at peace, that once was out of reach
And now it's here
i read Your word that some believe is so absurd
But I hold dear, yea
'Cause You loved me with your dying breath
You saved me when You conquered death
