Viewability Ad Terms

Viewability Guaranteed Trading Terms and Conditions– January 2017

In addition to the existing digital advertising campaign booking T&Cs, the following apply to line items booked from the viewability guaranteed rate card.

1. Measurement and delivery

1.1 All viewability measurement is as per the IAB viewability standard unless otherwise specified and agreed. That is:

1.1.1 Desktop and mobile display – an impression is viewable if at least 50% of pixels of an ad unit in view for at least one continuous second. 

1.1.2 Desktop and mobile video – an impression is viewable if at least 50% of pixels of an ad unit in view for at least two continuous seconds.

1.2 News Corp utilises Moat as its viewability measurement platform and Google DFP for ad serving viewability guaranteed campaigns.

2. For all line items that include a viewability guarantee

2.1 News Corp Australian maintains a 99.5% measurability rate for viewability and eliminates invalid traffic (IVT) and fraud from delivery reconciliation.

2.2 News Corp Australia does not guarantee precisely what in-view rate will be achieved or how evenly it will deliver over the duration of the campaign, only that Moat in-view rate will range at or over the agreed minimum percentage guarantee for ‘human and viewable’ in-view impressions by the end of the line item’s campaign duration. Line items that enjoy a viewability guarantee are as specified in the insertion order.

2.3 Line items will be monitored weekly and optimised throughout their duration to ensure the agreed in-view rate is achieved.

2.4 Agency agrees to utilise publishers ‘in-view’ rate, ‘human and viewable’ rate and ‘in-view impressions’ viewability data from Moat for the purpose of guaranteed viewability delivery and reconciliation.

2.5 Buyer / agency is also welcome to supply their own viewability tracking tags from Moat or any other accredited viewability vendor for their internal reporting purposes.

2.6 Where News fails to meet the average agreed minimum in-view viewability rate for a line item across the campaign duration the volume of in-view impressions not delivered below the agreed minimum will be reconciled for 1:1 makegoods or credits provided the reasons for under delivery are not one of the following:

2.6.2 Advertisers’ brand safety settings blocked impression delivery

2.7 Viewable impression makegoods will be offered 1:1 for under delivery by the end of the current or subsequent calendar month until the original booked viewability threshold is met.

2.8 Makegoods or credits under clause 2.6 and 2.7 are the only remedy for a failure to meet the average agreed minimum in-view viewability rate for a line item across the campaign duration.

3. Vendor tracking discrepancies

3.1 In the event of delivery discrepancies exceeding 10% between News Corp’s instance of Moat and the advertiser’s viewability vendor, advertiser/agency commits to providing, or giving publisher access to viewability rates broken out by line item (subject to vendor contracts).

3.2 Should discrepancies between News’s viewability reporting and the advertiser/agency’s exceed 10%, discrepancies will be investigated by News, but News has no obligations to adopt or accept advertiser/agency’s viewability reporting.

4. Billing

4.1 Billing will continue to be based on the number of booked (served) impressions.

5. Viewability guarantees not applicable to:

5.1 All ads in multiple ad unit executions – E.g. Roadblocks, use highest value only. Best endeavours will be made to ensure all ad units achieve the guarantee but guarantee is only on the highest value single ad unit.

5.2 Sponsorships – E.g. Homepage and Index buyouts, CPM buyouts due to their 100% SOV

5.3 Programmatically traded inventory

5.4 Apps, tablet 5.5 Performance – CPC

5.6 Integrated placements – E.g. Native, BTYB, etc.

5.7 Sponsored links/text links

5.8 Email newsletters

5.9 Off network inventory

5.10 Value add/bonus

5.11 Any other products not specified on the guaranteed viewable rate card
