Night Masks Multitasking face masks that work their magic while you sleep are our latest obsession. Skin can lose a lot of water overnight and masks help prevent this by locking in moisture while the active ingredients get to work. Apply a dollop the size of a five-cent piece to cleansed skin with upward massage movements, then set and forget.
Road test
This week I try ... acupuncture and kinesiology
The lowdown My energy levels are low and anxiety levels high and I want to reverse the order. I've heard about chiropractor/ kinesiologist/acupuncturist Dr Rick Schlederer for years from friends and colleagues who swear by his magical abilities. I filled out a form about my medical history, with a few lifestyle questions thrown in, and then Rick performed a couple of resistance tests, from which he worked out where he was going to place the acupuncture needles. He popped them in near my big toes, ankles, calves, wrists and the top of my head, then left me to rest for 20 minutes. When he returned he did some cranial pressure work and we mapped out a treatment plan.
Pain factor The acupuncture needle near my right toe stung a little but I could barely feel the others.
Downtime One hour.
Results The session was calming and at the end I did feel soothed and less frenetic. I also slept better that night.

Essie Nail Polish in Tart Deco – a creamy, lobster-bisque shade – is our pick for a sizzling summer polish. For best colour pay-off, apply a base coat and then two coats of colour, let them dry and then pop on a top coat. Allow toenails to dry for a good two hours, as the nail bed is much more porous than your fingernails. Essie Nail Polish in Tart Deco, $17, essie.com.

What is the best way to keep your face fresh on a long-haul flight?
We're big fans of micellar water to wash off grime and add moisture at altitude. Pack The Cleansing Pad by Scott & Sullivan ($55, theclinic.net.au) – the micellar-soaked wipes also have a dose of chamomile extract to help keep skin calm.
