A fuel is any material that can be made to react so that it releases chemical or nuclear energy as heat or to be used for work. The concept was originally applied solely to those materials capable of releasing chemical energy but has since also been applied to other sources of heat energy such as nuclear energy (via nuclear fission or nuclear fusion).
The heat energy released by reactions of fuels is converted into mechanical energy via a heat engine. Other times the heat itself is valued for warmth, cooking, or industrial processes, as well as the illumination that comes with combustion. Fuels are also used in the cells of organisms in a process known as cellular respiration, where organic molecules are oxidized to release usable energy. Hydrocarbons and related oxygen-containing molecules are by far the most common source of fuel used by humans, but other substances, including radioactive metals, are also utilized.
Fuels are contrasted with other substances or devices storing potential energy, such as those that directly release electrical energy (such as batteries and capacitors) or mechanical energy (such as flywheels, springs, compressed air, or water in a reservoir).
Fifth Gear is a British motoring television magazine series. Originally shown on Channel 5 from 2002 to 2011. Since 2012 the show has only been available on limited distribution platforms such as Discovery from 2012 to 2014 and History since 2015 alongside ITV4 meaning the show is returning to freeview for the first time in four years after it ended on Channel 5 in 2011. The show is currently presented by Tiff Needell, Vicki Butler-Henderson and Jonny Smith. Fifth Gear's rival shows are BBC Two's Top Gear and Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May's 2016 Untitled Amazon motoring show for Amazon Video.
Fifth Gear was first broadcast on 8 April 2002 as 5th Gear, and as a continuation of the original incarnation of the BBC show Top Gear, which was cancelled in 2001. Top Gear was relaunched later that year; Channel 5 originally wanted to carry on using the Top Gear name, but the BBC refused. Several of Top Gear's ex-presenters, including Quentin Willson, Tiff Needell, and Vicki Butler-Henderson, were hired by Channel 5 to present the series. The show's name was restyled as Fifth Gear in 2005.

FuelShark, also called car fuel saver or economizer, is a miraculous device that claims to save 20% or more of fuel. Just plug it into the cigarette lighter socket of your car and you magically save 20% of gas. It also saves oil, battery life and environment and even increases the power of your engine! This is what the sellers claim. In reality, this is just a tiny 1000uF capacitor (rated 25V) connected in parallel with car mains. Fortunately there’s also a 2A fuse. There's also an indicator LED with two 1k resistors in series (they could have used one) and a 1.5M discharging resistor. I have no idea how this is supposed to save 20% of your fuel and why the car manufacturers don't put this already into all cars :). But at least, this is a nice flashlight and it tells all passengers that yo...

These are the fuel savers on my wife's 1983 Honda Civic hatchback. It has a manual transmission and a 1500 cc engine. It currently gets 55 mpg (US gallon). It's now our winter and errands vehicle. My Carburetor Enhancer has been installed on over 100,000 vehicles, with a gain of at LEAST 25% on over 75% of the vehicles. Some carburetors that have advanced air bleed systems, like the Motorcraft 2150, tend to double mileage. I'm not sure about this thing at all. The idea is that you plug it into your cars OBD2 diagnostics connector and it analyses your driving and engine performance, and then remaps your engines control parameters to make it more efficient. The OBD port is fitted near the drivers position in all modern cars. It's an industry-standard communication port that allows mechanics and technically minded owners to access their vehicles diagnostic log and check the output of various sensors. Up to this point I was under the impression that it does not allow you to modify engine settings other than to reset warnings. The only possibility of this is where a manufacturer might use the OBD port to upload software into the cars computer, and it does appear that some models do allow that. However, from...
The current research investigates the effect of magnetic field on internal combustion engines. The study concentrates on engine performance parameters such as fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. The magnetic field was applied to S.I.E. using gasoline fuel. Moreover, the fuel is subjected to a permanent magnet mounted on fuel inlet lines. The experiments were conducted at different idling engine speeds. The exhaust gas emissions of CO, NO, and CH4 were measured by using an exhaust gas analyzer. The magnetic effect on fuel consumption reduction was up to 15%. CO reduction at all idling speed was range up to 7%. The effect on NO emission reduction at all idling speed was range up to 30%. The reduction of CH4 at all idling speed was range up to 40%. Discover the world's research. The curre...

Diesel versus petrol. Which fuel is right for you? Don’t get this horribly wrong, because that’s going to cost you thousands. http://autoexpert.com.au/buying-a-car/diesel-australia-the-diesel-vs-petrol-story Diesel has so much going for it - it’s become incredibly popular. In the past 10 years, here in Australia, diesel sales have gone ballistic. Diesel SUVs - a four-fold sales increase in a decade. Diesel utes and light commercials - up more than double. Businesses, governments and private punters are equally enamoured of diesel. For the record, I’m neither for nor against diesel. I’m certainly not some diesel evangelist, but nor do I hate it. Diesel is simply the right choice for some car buyers and it’s wrong for others. There’s overlap in the middle, too. Meaning there’s a group o...
You can shower this channel with free energy at https://www.patreon.com/bigclive This is a perplexingly complicated device that was/is heavily marketed by salesmen as an energy saving unit that will lower your electricity bill. The design starts out in a very traditional manner by using a device called a buck transformer. This is a transformer with a mains voltage primary and a low voltage secondary that then gets put in series with the load and drops the voltage to it (or boosts it up if wired in reverse). Then it gets quite complicated with a bank of IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) which combine the ease of driving of a MOSFET with the ruggedness of a traditional bipolar transistor. Not rugged enough though apparently as they had all failed as a dead short between their emi...
Basic instructions on how to startup an ER50 electrolyzer that's had the 'WaterTorch' upgrade. While the ER50 was originally designed to provide Brown's Gas for Health applications (like using the BG to enhance water or by applying BG directly to the skin), the ER50 electrolyzer can be modified to safely and efficiently burn the BG; vastly increasing the possible applications (including making 'new water'). You can purchase an ER50 Kit here: http://www.eagle-research.com/cms/node/210?a=5 Learn about Brown's Gas for Health here: http://www.eagle-research.com/cms/node/566?a=5 Brown's Gas has been used as a superior torch fuel gas (better than acetylene) since 1965. I was given this defective lithium jump starter by a local chap called Andy for analysis. Then I decided to REALLY test it. I also had an incident at my bench while the camera was off where the negative plates of an opened cell spontaneously erupted in flames and smoke. They may have been made more reactive by the high electron charge they had, or it was just a reaction with the air. There's very little actual lithium in these cells, just a coating of lithium metal oxide. Having shown one of the cheaper, but less safety conscious electrically heated showers used in some other parts of the world I thought it would be fair to show the insides of a typical British electrically heated shower. It's understandable that people might be concerned about having electrical equipment in a shower cubicle with them, particularly at 240V, but when done properly (like this unit) then the risk is very low, especially when backed up with an RCD or GFI for protection against earth/ground leakage current. Unfortunately, many of these units are now installed by crash-trained "electrical experts" courtesy of the retarded Part P instant electrical certification scam. But let's not go there. (Financially motivated deskilling.) This unit had lots of technical surprises. Mainly b...

These are the top 10 worst car owner mistakes - and if you manage not to do them, buying and owning a car will get a lot easier. 1. Post-purchase research syndrome. My inbox cries me a river on this. People do it all the time, and it’s just nuts. Good safety tip: Buying a car always works better when research pre-dates purchase. 2. Fixing non-problems. If your car does not have a problem, don’t go looking for one, and definitely don’t fix it. Try manifesting a state of happiness. Contentment. Don’t stress - I’m sure something else will go wrong soon. 3. The blame game. If you damage the car, you know, if you leave it parked in the ocean, just for one night, it’s really not the carmaker’s problem. They’ll fix it for you, in exchange for money, if possible. Or you could talk to your insu...
I'd like to thank Filippos for sending these VERY shady USB chargers which he bought from a Chinese outlet in Greece. The flat one has one of the scariest transformers yet with no extra insulation between the secondary and sense windings. It also had a rather odd output capability of around just 20mA before the voltage plummeted. Exploding real estate prices, zero interest rate and a rising stock market – the rich are getting richer. What danger lies in wait for average citizens? For years, the world’s central banks have been pursuing a policy of cheap money. The first and foremost is the ECB (European Central Bank), which buys bad stocks and bonds to save banks, tries to fuel economic growth and props up states that are in debt. But what relieves state budgets to the tune of hundreds of billions annoys savers: interest rates are close to zero. The fiscal policies of the central banks are causing an uncontrolled global deluge of money. Experts are warning of new bubbles. In real estate, for example: it’s not just in German cities that prices are shooting up. In London, a one-bed apartment can easily cost more th...

An interesting new direction for the LED filament lamps. At first I thought these were just using a longer version of the metal filament base, but it's a completely new style of LED filament. Note that most of these seem to be aimed at the higher voltage European mains supply of 220V to 240V, although the design of the filament means they can easily manufacture a version with the LEDs in a different series/parallel configuration for lower voltages. Here's a search link for the 220-240V version. (Not suitable for America or Canada yet without a voltage doubler or dodgy 220V lighting socket.) http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH;_BIN=1&_nkw=flexible+led+filament+edison&_sop=15 If you enjoy these videos you can help support the channel with a dollar for coffee, cookies an...
