Ashanti may refer to:
A gold medal is the highest medal awarded for highest achievement in a non-military field. Its name derives from the use of at least a fraction of gold in form of plating or alloying in its manufacture. The award concept arose in the military, initially by simple recognition of military rank, and later by decorations for admission to military orders dating back to medieval times.
Since the eighteenth century, gold medals have been awarded in the arts, for example, by the Royal Danish Academy, usually as a symbol of an award to give an outstanding student some financial freedom. Others offer only the prestige of the award. Many organizations now award gold medals either annually or extraordinarily, including UNESCO and various academic societies.
While most gold medals are solid gold, notable exceptions are gold-plated and often silver-gilt, like those of the Olympic Games, the Lorentz Medal, the United States Congressional Gold Medal (displayed to the right) and the Nobel Prize medal. Nobel Prize medals consist of 18 carat green gold plated with 24 carat gold. Before 1980 they were struck in 23 carat gold.

Saint Lucia (i/seɪnt ˈluːʃə/; French: Sainte-Lucie) is a sovereign island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea on the boundary with the Atlantic Ocean. Part of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. It covers a land area of 617 km2 (238.23 sq mi) and has a population of 174,000 (2010). Its capital is Castries.
The French were the island's first European settlers. They signed a treaty with the native Carib Indians in 1660. England took control of the island from 1663 to 1667. In ensuing years, it was at war with France 14 times, and rule of the island changed frequently (it was seven times each ruled by the French and British). In 1814, the British took definitive control of the island. Because it switched so often between British and French control, Saint Lucia was also known as the "Helen of the West Indies".
Representative government came about in 1840 (with universal suffrage from 1953). From 1958 to 1962, the island was a member of the Federation of the West Indies. On 22 February 1979, Saint Lucia became an independent state of the Commonwealth of Nations associated with the United Kingdom. Saint Lucia is a mixed jurisdiction, meaning that it has a legal system based in part on both the civil law and English common law. The Civil Code of St. Lucia of 1867 was based on the Quebec Civil Code of 1866, as supplemented by English common law-style legislation. It is also a member of La Francophonie.
The Ashanti Medal (1901) was the first campaign medal authorized by Edward VII. This medal was created for those troops that were engaged in the Third Ashanti Expedition, also known as the War of the Golden Stool. This expedition lasted from March – September 1900, with the final outcome that the Ashanti maintained its de facto independence. Ashanti was annexed into the British Empire, but they ruled themselves with little reference to the colonial power.

Kaiso 2012 for St. Lucia. Ashanti's (of Take Over Tent) contribution for Calypso season. This is a song from the deep traditional calypso archives. Typical Ashanti with memories of his hit song "Malaway" back in the days, plus a present day tone accompanied with an effective choir. Written by Darby Etienne who decided to maintain the patterns, rendition and flavors of Ashanti within his comfort zone. The song is produced with a techno calypso riddim -- The riddim and catchy humorous lyrics is infectious in a manner that will make you laugh at the same time bringing you back to St Lucia's social reality. Ashanti is blessed with a unique voice which tires into an almost nature ability to calypso singing. The first of a number of classic tracks all designed to life the 2012 Calypso Monar...
