Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, a planned township in Mumbai meant to offload some of the stress and population in the mainland, was first developed in 1972. Since then, it has grown to become the largest planned city in the world.

Navi Mumbai has excellent infrastructure, electricity and road links which has read to a large influx of businesses into the area, with most software companies preferring to be headquartered in Navi Mumbai. Government sponsored IT parks promise to fuel that development. Also, major wholesale markets have started moving to the Navi Mumbai area. One such example being the major street market of Kalamboli. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port is another important center of economic importance.

Residents in the city have access to a wide variety of utility services, restaurants, malls, multiplexes and other required creature comforts. The government has also commissioned Navi Mumbai's own airport, which will be built in the Panvel Area.
