Sing Sing Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the village of Ossining, in the U.S. state of New York. It is located about 30 miles (50 km) north of New York City on the east bank of the Hudson River.
In 1970, the name of the facility was changed to "Ossining Correctional Facility" but, in 1985, it reverted to its original name. "Sing Sing" was derived from the name of a Native American Nation, "Sinck Sinck" (or "Sint Sinck"), from whom the land was purchased in 1685.
Sing Sing prison confines about 1,700 prisoners. There are plans to convert the original 1825 cell block into a time specific museum.
The prison property is bisected by the Metro-North Railroad's four-track Hudson Line.
Sing Sing was the third prison built by New York State. The first prison, Newgate Prison, was built in 1797 in Greenwich Village and a second one in 1816 called Auburn State Prison.
In 1824, the New York Legislature gave Elam Lynds, warden of Auburn Prison and a former Army captain, the task of constructing a new, more modern prison. Lynds spent months researching possible locations for the prison, considering Staten Island, The Bronx, and Silver Mine Farm, an area in the town of Mount Pleasant, located on the banks of the Hudson River.
Sing Sing is a prison in New York.
Sing Sing may also refer to:
Sing-sing is a gathering of a few tribes or villages in Papua New Guinea. People arrive to show their distinct culture, dance and music. The aim of these gatherings is to peacefully share traditions. Villagers paint and decorate themselves for sing-sings.
Sing! Sing! Sing! was John Pizzarelli's only record on the P-Vine Records label before signing with Chesky Records, performing without his usual ensemble and joined by Eddie Daniels.
“Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)” is a 1936 song written and composed by Louis Prima, who first recorded it with the New Orleans Gang and released it in March 1936 as a 78, Brunswick 7628, with "It's Been So Long" as the B side. It is strongly identified with the Big Band and Swing eras. Though it has lyrics, which Prima wrote, it was performed as an instrumental by Fletcher Henderson and, most famously, by Benny Goodman.
On July 6, 1937, "Sing, Sing, Sing" was recorded in Hollywood with Benny Goodman on clarinet; Harry James, Ziggy Elman, and Chris Griffin on trumpets; Red Ballard and Murray McEachern on trombones; Hymie Schertzer and George Koenig on alto saxophones; Art Rollini and Vido Musso on tenor saxophone; Jess Stacy on piano; Allan Reuss on guitar; Harry Goodman on bass; and Gene Krupa on drums. The song was arranged by Jimmy Mundy. Unlike most big band arrangements of that era, limited in length to three minutes so that they could be recorded on one side of a standard 10-inch 78-rpm record, the version which Goodman’s band recorded was an extended work. The 1937 recording lasted 8 min 43 seconds, and it took up both sides of a 12-inch 78. At its longest, a live recording (with impromptu solos) was recorded and took 12 min 30 sec. Mundy's arrangement incorporated "Christopher Columbus," a piece written by Chu Berry for the Fletcher Henderson band, as well as Prima's work.
Sing, Sing, Sing is an Australian music television series which aired 1962 to 1965 on what would eventually become the Seven Network. Initially hosted by Lionel Long, most of the episodes were hosted by popular rock-and-roll singer Johnny O'Keefe. The series was produced in Sydney.
The Ossining Metro-North Railroad station serves residents of Ossining, New York via the Hudson Line and is one of four express stations on that line south of Croton–Harmon seeing most trains minus peak hour trains to/from Poughkeepsie. Trains leave for New York City every 25 to 35 minutes on weekdays. It is 30.1 miles (48.4 km) from Grand Central Terminal and travel time to Grand Central is about 48 minutes.
Near the station is a ferry dock which is used by the NY Waterway-operated ferry connection to Haverstraw, allowing Rockland County, New York commuters to use the Hudson Line as an alternative to the New Jersey Transit-operated lines across the Hudson River.
Just south of the station is a section of track which runs through the middle of Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
The Hudson River Railroad reached Ossining in 1848, opening the village up to industrial development along the waterfront and allowing farmers inland to ship their produce to the markets of New York City. Among the riverside industrial concerns benefiting from the railroad were the marble quarries at Sing Sing Prison, Benjamin Brandreth's pill factory (still extant a short distance up the river) and others. These businesses gradually supplanted the boat builders and docks that had occupied the riverfront in the early 19th century.

Can I have your attention?
I just open my mouth, is it clear? Is it loud for you?
You just need me to be stable but I won't be able
To keep it together again
Now don't pretty please me
Do not make it that easy to slow me down
It's no wonder I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping
You sing, sing, sing to me
Sing me something I need
Sing you, sing you, God I wish that I could
Are you hearing me now?
Heard the sad little sounds as they fall from my mouth
You just need me to be stable but I won't be able
To keep it together again
Now don't pretty please me
Do not make it that easy to slow me down
It's no wonder I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping
You sing, sing, sing to me
Sing me something I need
Sing you, sing you, God I wish that I could
All my indecision, all of my excess
Don't you ever tell me I'm not lovin' you best
I just need a minute, I just need a breath
You're very hard to drink to my continued success
Do I have your attention?
You just need me to be stable but I won't be able
To keep it together again
Now don't pretty please me
Do not make it that easy to slow me down
It's no wonder I'm not eating, I'm not sleeping
You sing, sing, sing to me
Sing me something I need
Sing you, sing you, God I wish that I could
All my indecision, all of my excess
Don't you ever tell me I'm not lovin' you best
All my indecision, all of my excess
