OAKLAND — A person and a dog were struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision Tuesday night, authorities said.
At 8:15 p.m., police responded to a report of the collision in the 3000 block of Fruitvale Avenue near Nicol Avenue, an Oakland police officer said. One person was taken to a hospital, the officer said.
A KTVU Fox Channel 2 report said the person was walking a dog when they were struck, and that the dog died and the person was in critical condition.
Oakland police could not immediately confirm that account, but did say ambulance workers and animal control officers had been called to the scene.
Anyone with information about the collision should contact Oakland Police Sgt. Mark Rhoden at 510-750-4580 or mrhoden@oaklandnet.com or Officer Barry Ko at bko@oaklandnet.com.
