Film Katarzyny Adamik oparty na prawdziwej historii Krystiana Bali, którą żyły media na całym świecie. W wydanej w 2003 roku książce „Amok” opisał on zbrodnię bardzo podobną do tej, o którą został później oskarżony!
Sprawa Bali dała początek najgłośniejszemu procesowi poszlakowemu w historii Polski, a jej przebieg relacjonowały m.in. BBC, Guardian, New Yorker, Time, Daily Mail, The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, Le Figaro, Le Parisien i Telegraph.
W rolę Krystiana Bali w filmie wcielił się Mateusz Kościukiewicz. Jego żonę Zofię zagrała Zofia Wichłacz (laureatka Złotych Lwów za „Miasto 44”), której występ w „Amoku” wyróżniono w Berlinie nagrodą Shooting Star 2017, przyznawaną najzdolniejszym europejskim aktorom młodego pokolenia. Obok nich, w roli policjanta, który z determinacją próbuje rozwikłać tajemnicę zobaczymy Łukasza Simlata. Partnerować mu będzie Mirosław Haniszewski, znany z obsypanego nagrodami obrazu „Jestem mordercą” oraz Jan Peszek w roli profesora Bali. „Amok” to mistrzowsko skonstruowany thriller psychologiczny, w którym przeplatają się miłość, zdrada i niepohamowana żądza; a widz od samego początku zadaje sobie pytanie – czy autor książki jest mordercą czy też stał się ofiarą własnych ambicji i nieszczęśliwego zbiegu okoliczności?
Odrą dryfuje zmasakrowane ciało z pętlą u szyi i nóg. Po kilku dniach zostaje znalezione przez rybaków. Przerażające odkrycie zostaje nagłośnione przez media i trafia do wszystkich serwisów informacyjnych w kraju. Ofiarą okazuje się architekt Mariusz Roszewski, jednak winnych zbrodni nie udaje się odnaleźć i sprawa – z braku dowodów – trafia do policyjnego „archiwum X”. Cztery lata później anonimowy donos wiąże zabójstwo Roszewskiego z fabułą powieści „Amok” autorstwa Krystiana Bali (Mateusz Kościukiewicz). Autentyczność doniesień postanawia zbadać inspektor Jacek Sokolski (Łukasz Simlat), dociekliwy funkcjonariusz z mroczną przeszłością. Policjant szybko odkrywa podobieństwa między zabójstwem a opisaną w książce zbrodnią. A w toku śledztwa poznaje również samego Balę. Ich spotkanie rzuci nowe światło na sprawę i rozpocznie emocjonujący pojedynek pomiędzy Krystianem i Sokolskim – dwójką bardzo silnych osobowości, nieustannie balansujących na granicy dobra i zła. W intrydze, w której fikcja wymiesza się z rzeczywistością, a kłamstwo i prawda przestaną być możliwe do odróżnienia, zwycięzca może być tylko jeden.

Amok is Cambodia national food. It is a very popular dish in Southeast Asian countries, from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and all the way to Malaysia. Amok is fish mix with coconut curry and is steamed in a banana leaf. In traditional cooking, onchoy was not use. It was a different kind of vegetables that is not available in the United States. You can also use Chinese Broccoli but I don't like Chinese Broccoli because it gives a little bitter taste. I used onchoy because it tastes delicious and it's available in most Asian Supermarket. I like to cook traditional but when food sources are not available that is when I improvise and break tradition. Amok is very delicious! Don't take my words for it, try the receipe for yourself! Ingredients: Ingredients for 1 cup of curry paste: 3 medium lemon grass, 3 kaffier lime leafs,1oz. galangal, 1oz. garchai, 2 shallots, 1/2 glove of garlic, and 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder. 3 lbs. Tilapia, 1 batch of Onchoy, and 2 eggs. Ingredients for curry sauce: 1 can of coconut cream, 4 tablespoons fish sauce, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of chicken soup mix, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of tamarind soup mix.

Running amok
Running amok, sometimes referred to as simply amok, also spelled amuk, from the Malay language, is "an episode of sudden mass assault against people or objects usually by a single individual following a period of brooding that has traditionally been regarded as occurring especially in Malay culture but is now increasingly viewed as psychopathological behavior occurring worldwide in numerous countries and cultures". The syndrome of "Amok" is found in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV TR). The phrase is often used in a less serious manner when describing something that is wildly out of control or causing a frenzy (e.g., a dog tearing up the living room furniture might be termed as "running amok.")
Malay/Indonesian origin
Amok originated from the Malay/Indonesian word mengamuk, which when roughly defined means “to make a furious and desperate charge”. According to Malay/Indonesian culture, amok was rooted in a deep spiritual belief. They believed that amok was caused by the hantu belian, which was an evil tiger spirit that entered one’s body and caused the heinous act. As a result of the belief, those in Indonesian culture tolerated amok and dealt with the after-effects with no ill will towards the assailant.

Amok is Cambodia national food. It is a very popular dish in Southeast Asian countries, from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and all the way to Malaysia. Amok is fish mix with coconut curry and is steamed in a banana leaf. In traditional cooking, onchoy was not use. It was a different kind of vegetables that is not available in the United States. Amok is Cambodia national food. It is a very popular dish in Southeast Asian countries, from Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and all the way to Malaysia. Amok is fish mix with coconut curry and is steamed in a banana leaf. In traditional cooking, onchoy was not use. It was a different kind of vegetables that is not available in the United States. You can also use Chinese Broccoli but I don't like Chinese Broccoli because it gives a little bitter taste. I used onchoy because it tastes delicious and it's available in most Asian Supermarket. I like to cook traditional but when food sources are not available that is when I improvise and break tradition. Amok is very delicious! Don't take my words for it, try the receipe for yourself! Ingredients for curry sauce: 1 can of coconut cream, 4 tablespoons fish sauce, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of chicken soup mix, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of tamarind soup mix.
