ages upon ages upon you.

http://www6.zippyshare.com/v/UAeVIZYd/file.html

i'm feeling nostalgic for old seattle, so i'm sharing this. comp from a few years ago compiled by a local space featuring some heady blissers & shredders from around these parts. perfect for this time of the year.

this is the song where i break my arm.

this is a really special record made by a really superb human being. i only ever got the chance to see alunared once, but it was one of the best shows i have ever seen. i have bugged jack ever since, & he has been nothing but gracious everytime. he has also been a really encouraging source for me to follow my muse to whatever fucked up end it leads me to. this record is all cold icy synths rubbing up against death disco beats. dude is still putting out amazing records to this day, support him here.

fred mertz was most likely a bad poet & a pervert.

this is a really special & meaningful record to me. i don't wanna stranger danger tmi y'all, so i'll just say that the first i hate myself song on here made it onto plenty of mixtapes made for friends back in the late nineties. i never really listened to the twelve hour turn side too much because i was captivated by the sheer emotion exuded by the ihm cats. no idea hardcore influenced by ebullition. i still listen to this all the time. it's one of my desert records fer shure comrades. i also want to share a piece of my youth culture with my kid brother who is experiencing his own youth culture right now which is exciting to see blossom. here's to yr adventures young pioneer.

xerox my hand.

sorry carp, i don't have audioflashcard, but i do have this gem. kill me tomorrow were from san diego, & were one of the last really interesting bands to emerge from that city. while signed to gsl, i think they could have just as easily been on skin graft or load. they don't have the same affinity for noise that most of those bands did, but their whole hearted embrace of weirdness reminds me of their providence brethren from the same era. just dark noisy post punk that is perfect for bike rides in nice sunny weather. this is one of the few albums from that era that still captivates my interest the entire way through.

young rivers.

OCTAVO plays an evocative instrumental rock, highlighted by sharply contrasting sounds, revealing a new path following in the footsteps of CAPTAIN BEEFHEART and ETRON FOU LELOUBLAN. Please note that two members of the latter band appear here: Guigou CHENEVIER and Chris CHANET. Guitar player Guy SAPIN formerly belonged to ENCORE + GRANDE. "Des Pieds Et Des Mains" has been recorded in 1991, then reissued six years later on the Gazul label. Let's also note that "Thème D'Orphée" has been created in October 1990 for the Sam SHEPARD's theatre play "Fool For Love", directed by Philippe GARIN. Did you miss the original version? Don't miss that one ! - amazon

not a whole lot of info floating around about these french cats. released in 91', this reminds me much more of a load meets a gravity record than beefheart, predating the white belt skronk of the late nineties. it also reminds me a little of the first curtains record... actually, this could be a long lost greg saunier album. anyway, this is really fantastic & should be heard by everyone.

i will make you mine.

cabaret punk from aaron montaigne (antioch arrow, the chandeliers, heroin). the seven inch is a bit boring where he's just playing drums, but after they got rid of the singer & aaron took over vocals, things got a lot more interesting. they added dave clifford (the vss, slaves/pleasure forever, red sparowes) on drums, & had a fuller more engaging sound. pretty essential if yr into weird records, old vaudevillian tropes, the art of cabaret, or just miss the days of 1999 when people thought it was really kooky for the former frontman of antioch arrow to play in a carnival sideshow band.

if yr not familiar with xmal deutschland, then all you need to know is they were on 4ad & they were the far superior version of siouxsie & the banshees.

i've crossed the dutchman's path.

the hal al shedad are one of my all time favorite bands hands down. in the same echelon as roadside monument & the vehicle birth who are bands i always thought of as leaps & bounds ahead of their peers but never got the recognition they deserved. dark mathy angular post hardcore in the louisville vein, but with a style & flair all their own. i'm not sure why all the people who are downloading the world records aren't downloading my mid nineties posts? any suggestions? comments are welcome. don't be an idiot, just download this & thank me later.
