Touchstone Pictures
Touchstone Pictures is an American film distribution label of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Previously, Touchstone operated as an active film production banner of The Walt Disney Studios, owned by The Walt Disney Company. Established on February 15, 1984 by then-Disney CEO Ron W. Miller as Touchstone Films, it typically released films targeted to adult audiences with more mature themes and darker tones than those released under the flagship Walt Disney Pictures label.
Touchstone Pictures merely serves as a brand, not a distinct business operation, and did not exist as a separate company.
Their most commercially successful production partners in later years were Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Caravan Pictures, Summit Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Icon Productions, Imagine Entertainment, Mandeville Films, Focus Features, Spyglass Entertainment, and DreamWorks Pictures.
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures entered into a long-term, 30-picture distribution deal with DreamWorks Pictures by which DreamWorks' productions would be released through the Touchstone Pictures banner over seven years beginning in 2011. The deal will end in August 2016, with Universal Pictures replacing Disney as DreamWorks' distributor.

Richard Devine
Richard Devine is an Atlanta-based electronic musician and sound designer. He is recognized for producing a layered and heavily processed sound, combining influences from hip-hop to old and modern electronic music. Devine largely records for the Miami-based Schematic Records, which was founded by Josh Kay of Phoenecia. He has also done extensive recording and sample work with Josh Kay under the name DEVSND. As a result of praise of his music from Autechre as well as a remix of Aphex Twin's Come To Daddy, Devine recorded an album for Warp Records which was jointly released by Schematic and Warp.
Devine first started using computers for composition around 1993. Don Hassler, an instructor at the Atlanta College of Art, got him interested in computer synthesis, introducing Devine to Csound and other powerful computer-based applications. Devine coded his own FFT applications in SuperCollider, an environment and programming language for real-time audio synthesis. “It’s interesting, because you’re doing things to sound that just aren’t physically possible.”

An image (from Latin: imago) is an artifact that depicts visual perception, for example a two-dimensional picture, that has a similar appearance to some subject—usually a physical object or a person, thus providing a depiction of it.
Characteristics
Images may be two-dimensional, such as a photograph, screen display, and as well as a three-dimensional, such as a statue or hologram. They may be captured by optical devices – such as cameras, mirrors, lenses, telescopes, microscopes, etc. and natural objects and phenomena, such as the human eye or water.
The word image is also used in the broader sense of any two-dimensional figure such as a map, a graph, a pie chart, or a painting. In this wider sense, images can also be rendered manually, such as by drawing, the art of painting, carving, rendered automatically by printing or computer graphics technology, or developed by a combination of methods, especially in a pseudo-photograph.
A volatile image is one that exists only for a short period of time. This may be a reflection of an object by a mirror, a projection of a camera obscura, or a scene displayed on a cathode ray tube. A fixed image, also called a hard copy, is one that has been recorded on a material object, such as paper or textile by photography or any other digital process.

He is recognized for producing a layered and heavily processed sound, combining influences from hip-hop, to old and modern electronic music. Richard Devine has released records through such esteemed labels as Schematic and Warp Records, and is the creative force behind his own sound design company, Devine Sound. Though he has contributed sound design to a number of hardware and software manufacturers, he recently released his first official sample library through Sony Creative Software. Devine has also scored commercials for the likes of Nike and Touchstone Pictures.
Since the late-90s, Richard Devine's sound has been synonymous with taking cutting-edge computer-based DSP (digital signal processing) to its limits. In recent years, however, Devine has also become a convert to the unlimited sonic capabilities and hands-on "analog voodoo effect" of the Eurorack modular format. I Dream of Wires spoke to Devine at NAMM 2012, which he attends annually. Judging by the studio footage on his Vimeo channel, and his wild enthusiasm on the subject, Devine is a bonafide Eurorack obsessive!

It's undeniable that Scorsese knows how to make a damn good film no matter what genre or style. Last year the film community suffered the tragic loss of a beloved talent; the great Tony Scott. He was an auteur who boasted an unparalleled blend of momentum and humanity in all of his work. We all knew that great time at the movies was a guarantee whenever Tony was behind the camera. Looking back at his legacy it's clear he was never afraid to try new things with his style. Even when adjusting his own directorial methods over time, the quality of his films never ceased. His strive for boldness over his career was something I wanted to capture in this extensive installment of The Works, but more importantly, the immortal legacy that he's left behind.
You'll never be forgotten Tony, this one's for you.
I'd also like to send a very special thanks to Joe Carnahan who requested it of me to cut together this tribute and managed to get it played at a memorial service for Tony last month. Saying that working on this was an honor doesn't even begin to describe my gratitude.

BREAKDOWN:
0:00-0:17 UVs and paint for Spoke, Struts, Glass Exterior Walls and Supports, Inner Air Purifier Beam as well as supervised the textures for the rest of the Ring.
0:18-0:51 Paint for all droids.
0:52-0:55 Paint for the water buoy and Owlship.
0:56 UVs and paint for Rattlesnake Jake and The Mayor (including clothing and accessories).
0:57-0:58 UVs and paint for Nawicki and his clothing
0:59-1:02 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.
1:02-1:08 Paint for the Carlyle Droid
1:09-1:11 Paint for the Owlship
1:12-1:14 UVs and Paint for Rattlesnake Jake, The Mayor, all of their accessories and clothing. Also UVs and Paint for the entire Mayor's Office including walls, rug, floor, stained glass window, and desk. All props on the shelves and tables were outsourced which I supervised.
1:15-1:18 UVs and paint various flesh pieces, inner skull with muscles.
1:19-1:22 UVs and paint for thug boots. Also ingested all the of the textures from ILM for the rest of the thug to fit into our IE pipeline.
1:23-1:28 UVs and paint for The Spirit of the West including clothing and hat.
1:29-1:30 UVs and paint for Nite Owl's cape.
1:31-1:33 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.
1:34-1:36 Paint for The Comedian's apartment walls and glass.
1:37-1:39 UVs and paint for outhouse.
1:40-1:43 UVs and paint for taro cards
1:44-1:55 UVs and paint for ALL the wood in the shot... I don't ever want to paint wood again :)
1:56-1:59 Paint for the Owlship and ice chunks, Including the snow damage variations.
1:59-2:00 UVs and paint for Nawicki only.
2:01-2:10 Paint for ambulance variation of the Shuttle Deportation. Paint for the hero exterior panels that open. Paint for everything inside (including med droids) except the medbays, entire second floor and entire interior walls of the main hull.
2:10-2:13 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.

He is recognized for producing a layered and heavily processed sound, combining influences from hip-hop, to old and modern electronic music. Richard Devine has released records through such esteemed labels as Schematic and Warp Records, and is the creative force behind his own sound design company, Devine Sound. Though he has contributed sound design to a number of hardware and software manufacturers, he recently released his first official sample library through Sony Creative Software. Devine has also scored commercials for the likes of Nike and Touchstone Pictures.
Since the late-90s, Richard Devine's sound has been synonymous with taking cutting-edge computer-based DSP (digital signal processing) to its limits. In recent years, however, Devine has also become a convert to the unlimited sonic capabilities and hands-on "analog voodoo effect" of the Eurorack modular format. I Dream of Wires spoke to Devine at NAMM 2012, which he attends annually. Judging by the studio footage on his Vimeo channel, and his wild enthusiasm on the subject, Devine is a bonafide Eurorack obsessive!

What an exceptional director this man is. Often referred to as one of the greatest American filmmakers, Martin Scorsese is amongst the most passionate and fearless directors working today. Why fearless? He's not afraid to try new things. His genres can range from a violent crime film like Goodfellas or Casino, to family oriented love letter to cinema like 'Hugo.' It's undeniable that Scorsese knows how to make a damn good film no matter what genre or style. Last year the film community suffered the tragic loss of a beloved talent; the great Tony Scott. He was an auteur who boasted an unparalleled blend of momentum and humanity in all of his work. We all knew that great time at the movies was a guarantee whenever Tony was behind the camera. Looking back at his legacy it's clear he was never afraid to try new things with his style. Even when adjusting his own directorial methods over time, the quality of his films never ceased. His strive for boldness over his career was something I wanted to capture in this extensive installment of The Works, but more importantly, the immortal legacy that he's left behind.
You'll never be forgotten Tony, this one's for you.
I'd also like to send a very special thanks to Joe Carnahan who requested it of me to cut together this tribute and managed to get it played at a memorial service for Tony last month. Saying that working on this was an honor doesn't even begin to describe my gratitude.

0:18-0:51 Paint for all droids.
0:52-0:55 Paint for the water buoy and Owlship.
0:56 UVs and paint for Rattlesnake Jake and The Mayor (including clothing and accessories).
0:57-0:58 UVs and paint for Nawicki and his clothing
0:59-1:02 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.

1:12-1:14 UVs and Paint for Rattlesnake Jake, The Mayor, all of their accessories and clothing. Also UVs and Paint for the entire Mayor's Office including walls, rug, floor, stained glass window, and desk. All props on the shelves and tables were outsourced which I supervised.
1:15-1:18 UVs and paint various flesh pieces, inner skull with muscles.
1:19-1:22 UVs and paint for thug boots. Also ingested all the of the textures from ILM for the rest of the thug to fit into our IE pipeline.
1:23-1:28 UVs and paint for The Spirit of the West including clothing and hat.
1:29-1:30 UVs and paint for Nite Owl's cape.
1:31-1:33 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.
1:34-1:36 Paint for The Comedian's apartment walls and glass.
1:37-1:39 UVs and paint for outhouse.
1:40-1:43 UVs and paint for taro cards
1:44-1:55 UVs and paint for ALL the wood in the shot... I don't ever want to paint wood again :)
1:56-1:59 Paint for the Owlship and ice chunks, Including the snow damage variations.
1:59-2:00 UVs and paint for Nawicki only.
2:01-2:10 Paint for ambulance variation of the Shuttle Deportation. Paint for the hero exterior panels that open. Paint for everything inside (including med droids) except the medbays, entire second floor and entire interior walls of the main hull.
2:10-2:13 UVs and paint for the Raven. Painted a complete pass of it and then had one of my texture painters (Aaron Kramer) finish the last 15% to final the asset.
