The Ronettes were an American girl group from New York City. One of the most popular groups from the 1960s, they placed nine songs on the Billboard Hot 100, five of which became Top 40 hits. The trio from Spanish Harlem, New York, consisted of lead singer Veronica Bennett (later known as Ronnie Spector), her older sister Estelle Bennett and their cousin Nedra Talley. Among the Ronettes' most famous songs are "Be My Baby", "Baby, I Love You", "(The Best Part of) Breakin' Up", and "Walking in the Rain", all of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Walking in the Rain" won a Grammy Award in 1965, and "Be My Baby" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. The Ronettes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
The girls had sung together since they were teenagers, when they were known as "The Darling Sisters". Signed first by Colpix Records in 1961, they moved to Phil Spector's Philles Records in March 1963, and changed their name to "The Ronettes." In late 1964, the group released their only studio album, Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica, which entered the Billboard charts at number 96. Rolling Stone ranked it number 422 on its list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The group were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004. The Ronettes were the only girl group to tour with the Beatles.
"Be My Baby" is a song written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector. It was first recorded and released by American girl group The Ronettes as a single in August 1963 and later placed on their 1964 debut LP Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes featuring Veronica. Spector produced their elaborately layered recording in what is now largely considered the ultimate embodiment of his Wall of Sound production formula.
It is considered one of the best songs of the 1960s by Pitchfork Media, NME and Time. In 2004, the song was ranked 22 by Rolling Stone in its list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and described as a "Rosetta stone for studio pioneers such as the Beatles and Brian Wilson," a notion supported by Allmusic who writes, "No less an authority than Brian Wilson has declared 'Be My Baby' the greatest pop record ever made — no arguments here." In 1999, it was inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame, and in 2006, the Library of Congress honored the Ronettes' version by adding it to the United States National Recording Registry.

Phillip Harvey Spector (born Harvey Phillip Spector, December 26, 1939) is an American record producer, musician, and songwriter who developed the Wall of Sound, a popular music production formula he described as "a Wagnerian approach to rock and roll." From 1960 to 1965, Spector produced more than twenty-five Top 40 singles for various artists, but following sporadic work in the 1970s, he remained largely inactive. In the 2000s, Spector became the subject of two trials for murder and a second-degree conviction. He is serving a prison sentence of 19 years to life and will be 88 years old before becoming eligible for parole.
Spector began his career in 1958 as the producer and co-founder of the Teddy Bears, performing on guitar and vocals. At the height of his career, he was a pioneer of the 1960s girl-group sound, writing, co-writing, or producing for artists such as the Ronettes and the Crystals and, later, the Beatles, Leonard Cohen, Dion DiMucci, and the Ramones. Spector is often called the first auteur among musical artists for acting not only as a producer, but also the creative director, writing or choosing the material, supervising the arrangements, conducting the vocalists and session musicians, and masterminding all phases of the recording process. He helped pave the way for art rock and various aesthetically oriented music genres, with numerous artists later citing his work as a major influence.
An infant (from the Latin word infans, meaning "unable to speak" or "speechless") is the very young offspring of a human or animal. When applied to humans, the term is usually considered synonymous with baby or bairn (in Scottish English), but the latter is commonly applied to the young of any animal. When a human child learns to walk, the term toddler may be used instead.
The term infant is typically applied to young children between the ages of 1 month and 12 months; however, definitions may vary between birth and 1 year of age, or even between birth and 2 years of age. A newborn is an infant who is only hours, days, or up to a few weeks old. In medical contexts, newborn or neonate (from Latin, neonatus, newborn) refers to an infant in the first 28 days after birth; the term applies to premature infants, postmature infants, and full term infants. Before birth, the term fetus is used. In the UK, infant is a term that can be applied to school children aged between four and seven. As a legal terminology, "infancy" continues from birth until age 18.

I first heard "Walking In The Rain" in late 1964, I was just 12 years old, and from the moment I heard it, I was blown away by the special effects, its incredibly beautiful melody, but most of all by THAT voice, Ronnie Spector's unique voice, and her tender phrasing on this song is nothing short of perfection. There is an elegance of orchestration, of melodic build up, that make it a majestic and memorable song; but it's the believability of Ronnie's poignant vocals that make it a CLASSIC. I have the 45, I have the Spector box set, and now the song lives in my i-pod, it has been with me all these years, and it was time to pay it the tribute it deserves- This is what this little video is all about, an audiovisual honor to the artist, writers and producer, for having given us this most pe...

Ronettes - Big TNT Show - California - November 29, 1965 The girls broke up in late 1966. This was one of their last live appearances. Their final release "I Can Hear Music" was released in Oct. '66. Ronnie thought she was going to go on to have a spectacular career by marrying Phil Spector. Nedra was ready to step down. And she married boyfriend Scott Ross, and they are still married today with (4) grown children. Estelle did not want to break the group up. She loved being a Ronette, loved the lifestyle. And the breakup began a very sad lifetime of physical and emotional deterioration leading to her pre-mature death on February 11, 2009. You might notice the girls are having a lot of fun on stage here! Ronnie and even Estelle are adding those little barks and squeals that the...

Veronica Yvette "Ronnie" Spector (née Bennett; born August 10, 1943) is an American rock and roll and popular music vocalist, and was the lead singer of the 1960s chart-ranked girl group, The Ronettes, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. She is known as the "original bad girl of rock and roll." Born as Veronica Yvette Bennett in New York City on August 10, 1943. From an early age Ronnie took to singing, encouraged by her large, close family. The other members of the Ronettes, her sister Estelle Bennett (1941-2009) and cousin, Nedra Talley, were also encouraged to sing by their family. The Ronettes were a multiracial group, which was unusual during the 1960s. The Bennetts' mother was African-American and Cherokee Indian, and their father was Irish; their cousin, ...

If you want my lovin', if you really do,
Don't be afraid baby (just ask me),
Ya know I'm gonna give it to you.
Oh, and I do declare (I do!)
I want to see you with it.
Stretch out your arms, little boy, you're gonna get it
'Cause, I love you, baby, baby, baby I love you.
There ain't no doubt about it, baby: I love you.
(Baby, baby, baby, I love you)
I love ya, I love ya, I love ya, I love ya,babyIlove ya.
If you feel you wanna kiss me
Go right ahead I don't mind.
All you got to do is snap you fingers
And I'll come runnin', I ain't lyin' (I ain't lyin')
And Oh!
What ya want, little boy, ya know ya got it
I deny myself before I see you without it
'Cause I love you, baby, baby, baby I love you
Ain't no doubt about it baby: I love you.
(Baby, baby, baby, I love you)
I love ya, I love ya, I love ya , I love ya,babyIlove ya.
So deal my world around away
And leave me sittin' here to cry.
But if it's all the same to ya baby
I'm gonna stop ya from sayin' goodbye (goodbye)
Oh baby I love ya (baby, baby I love ya)
Baby I need ya (baby, baby)
I said I want ya (baby, baby)
Well, I want ya (baby, baby)
Maybe I don't want ya (baby, baby)
Won't let you lose everything...
