Raakh (English: Ashes) is a 1989 Indian crime thriller film starring Aamir Khan, Pankaj Kapoor, Supriya Pathak, Gajanan Bangera and Jagdeep. The revenge thriller film was directed by Aditya Bhattacharya, son of director, Basu Bhattacharya.
The film was Aamir Khan's first movie after QSQT and it received much critical acclaim and subsequently three National Film Awards in 1989 and developed considerable following over the years. The film also marked the Bollywood debut of ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, and film editor A. Sreekar Prasad.
As declared in the subtitles of the opening scene, the events of the film takes place in a big city in India. After the police riots of 1990, the State Forces were disbanded and replaced by a central one. The police now had more powers. The crime rate continued to escalate. In the wealthier quarters of the city though, life went on… but it was an uneasy calm.
Aamir (Aamir Khan) had just turned 21. He is from a rich family. The only colour in his otherwise mundane life was his obsession for Neeta, an older, more pragmatic woman, who likes him but does not share his plans for their future.

Raakh (1989) was launched to critical acclaim and was widely covered by the film critics in the media. It was a project of great importance for many of the cast and crew who made their debut with this movie. The movie acted as a career launching platform for many debutants like Santosh Sivan (Cinematographer), A Sreekar Prasad (Editor), Aamir Khan, Aditya Bhattacharya & Asif Noor (Producer) all of who were under 30 years of age at the time. The commendable fact is that Aditya Bhattacharya, 23, became the youngest director of Bollywood at that time winning the Best Directorial debut award at the Bengal Film Journalists' Association.
Film: Raakh Year: 1989 Synopsis: A dark gritty thriller that deals with a young citizen's difficult descent into vigilantism. Critics Speak: "Movie unfolds itself through Aamir's journey of perturbed emotions and a constant restlessness." "Aaditya Bhattacharya directs a taut tale, tries his best to keep the setting contemporary and is ably supported by the cast but falls down starkly on the production value which reduces the visual appeal of a rather fascinating style of narration." "Raakh runs for 2 hrs, the movie is slow and intense. It brings in the pain, you will feel the impact of the movie for sometime. Such movies are rare." Cast: Aamir Khan, Pankaj Kapoor, Supriya Pathak Directed by: Aaditya Bhattacharya Trailer music: Crdiac Arrest by Merlin

RAAKH a film which is not so talked about, but one of the most spectacular movies ever made and the youngest, cutest looking Aamir Khan tried to play a mature role in that time. What if he makes this movie now? Will it be a hit? Don't know, definately that innocence will be missing. I dedicate this to him and a great movie made by Aditya Bhattacharya. AWESOME !! ....Enjoy this presentation with YANNI's ever enthrilling and heart felt music which gives more meaning to the feature presentation.

Early dayz film of Aamir Khan....dedicated to the perfectionst of acting....legendary film, very less talked about. A small strip of stills from the same movie colated together. Enjoy!
A few years from now, an Indian Metropolis...decaying, lawless, tragically corrupting....A typical party ends in untypical violence. Aamir just 21...is awkwardly sensitive and inarticulate. Neeta, the poised distant girl whom Aamir loves with mad desperation, is gang raped. She is a survivor. Disillusioned and practical, she rules out revenge. Neeta has now grown beyond Aamir. Aamir, driven by impotent rage, hesitantly approaches the law. Only to learn that the rapists are the ruling mafia clan whom neither he nor the police can touch. Aamir is violently uprooted from his safe, if lonely, upper class home. Thus begins the chaotic journey that takes him into the precarious outer world. Here, his only friend, a street urchin offers him mute sympathy until P.K. an embittered cop cynical witn...
Bombay, twenty years ago, a twenty-four year old from Carter road, Bandra got together with a slightly older beardo from Byculla, put together a team and realised their dream... Most of us, were first timers (you may recognise some of the names in the credits below) and there was an innocence, an energy that brought us all together. Every day of shoot, of post-production was pure unadulterated joy and was somehow untouched by the cynicism that marks our trade. RAAKH is presently unavailable to rent or buy and has never (officially) been on Tv. Asif & I are working on a twentieth anniversary edition. Till then, here’s a small snippet, enjoy and welcome to 20 10! Aditya B. Here's a New York Times, Reader Review from June 18th, 2008: Aam...
RAAKH Redux (Ashes to Ashes,) the brand new version of my 1989 first feature (its now 20 minutes shorter and Widescreen,) has been invited by IFFLA (the 8th Indian Film Fest of LA) for its world premiere 20th anniversary screening, at the ArcLight Hollywood on the 24th of April. The ArcLight is probably one of my favourite cinemas in the world. Last week whilst 'making' the newer version with Sreekar Prasad, my editor, I asked him how many movies he had edited? (Sreekar started his career with moi, in fact won the prestigious National Award for RAAKH - and then went on to win atleast 6 more!) He asked including shorts and commercials? I said no, just features and he said 'I'm not sure but I think its over 350...' Yes, Thats ThreeHundred&Fifty; features!!! Can you believe that. An...

Me duele amarte,
sabiendo que ya te perdi
solo quedara la lluvia
mojando mi llanto
y me hablara de ti.
Me duele amarte,
los sueños que eran para ti,
se pierden con cada palabra
con cada momento que
espere vivir.
Me duele más
imaginar que tu te vas
y dejarás detrás de ti
tu ausencia en mis brazos.
Me duele tanto sospechar
que ni tu sombra volverá
para abrigar mi alma en pedazos.
Chorus:
Me duele amarte así
hasta morir lanzándome a la nada
viendote partir.
Me duele aquel abril
cuando te vi por
ves primera y dije que
eras para mi,
Me duele amarte tanto.
ohhh ummm
