Synopsis: In the high-stakes pursuit of big-wall climbing, the Shark’s Fin on Mount Meru may be the ultimate prize. Sitting 21,000 feet above the sacred Ganges River in Northern India, the mountain’s perversely stacked obstacles make it both a nightmare and an irresistible calling for some of the world’s toughest climbers. In October 2008, renowned alpinists Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk arrived in India to tackle Meru. Their planned seven-day trip quickly declined into a 20-day odyssey in sub-zero temperatures with quickly depleting food rations. Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi is an award-winning film director and producer with Hungarian, Chinese, and Brazilian roots. Her second film, Youssou N’Dour: I Bring What I Love, chronicles Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour and his Grammy-award winning album Egypt, was released in theaters in the US and internationally. Vasarhelyi is a graduate of The Brearley School and Princeton University where she majored in Comparative Literature. In 2005, she was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” In 2008, she received an Achievement Award from the Creative Visions Foundation.
Jimmy Chin is one of the most sought after and recognized adventure sports photographers and filmmakers working today. In the past decade, Jimmy has collaborated with some of the most progressive athletes and explorers in the world, participating in and documenting break through expeditions around the planet, from climbing notable first ascents in the Karakoram, to skiing first descents in the Himalayas.

Meru County
Meru County is one of the 47 counties of Kenya, located in the former Eastern Province.
Meru County is the home of the Ngaa People (Meru) ethnicity, which is sometimes described as being related to other ethnicities living around the Mount Kenya region: the Kikuyu, Embu people and to some extent the Kamba people. The Ameru generally fit into the "Bantu" group of people who have been native to the Mt. Kenya area for many years — well before colonization of Kenya by Great Britain in the 19th Century. The people of Meru County are now predominantly Christian — Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, and other denominations, reflecting the work of missionaries — with also minorities of Indian descent, who are mainly Hindus, and African/Arab descent, who are Muslims. Meru County also has some resident Europeans predominantly British in ancestry.
The county headquarters is in the town of Meru. The current governor of Meru County is Hon. Peter Munya APK, who is also the current chairman of the Council of Governors. .

Jimmy Chin
Jimmy Chin (born October 12, 1973) is a professional climber, mountaineer, skier, director and photographer. Born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota, he signed a sponsorship agreement with the The North Face in 2001 and is a 14-year veteran of The North Face Athlete Team. He has organized and led numerous climbing, ski-mountaineering and exploratory expeditions to China, Pakistan, Nepal, Tanzania, Chad, Mali, South Africa, Tibet, Borneo, India and Argentina. His achievements include climbing and skiing Mount Everest from the summit, making first ascents of big walls and alpine towers in the Karakoram Mountains of Pakistan and the Garwhal Himalayas of Northern India, crossing the Chang Tang Plateau in north-western Tibet on foot and attempting the direct North face of Mount Everest, alpine style. Jimmy has been featured, both in front of and behind the camera, in numerous publications, including National Geographic, Outside and Men’s Journal, and has been voted as one of the world’s most eligible bachelors by People magazine (although currently married). A 1996 alumnus of Carleton College, he received a BA in Asian Studies.

In 2005, she was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.” In 2008, she received an Achievement Award from the Creative Visions Foundation.
Jimmy Chin is one of the most sought after and recognized adventure sports photographers and filmmakers working today. In the past decade, Jimmy has collaborated with some of the most progressive athletes and explorers in the world, participating in and documenting break through expeditions around the planet, from climbing notable first ascents in the Karakoram, to skiing first descents in the Himalayas.
