In mathematics, a monotonic function (or monotone function) is a function between ordered sets that preserves the given order. This concept first arose in calculus, and was later generalized to the more abstract setting of order theory.
In calculus, a function defined on a subset of the real numbers with real values is called monotonic if and only if it is either entirely increasing or decreasing. It is called monotonically increasing (also increasing or nondecreasing), if for all and such that one has , so preserves the order (see Figure 1). Likewise, a function is called monotonically decreasing (also decreasing or nonincreasing) if, whenever , then , so it reverses the order (see Figure 2).
If the order in the definition of monotonicity is replaced by the strict order , then one obtains a stronger requirement. A function with this property is called strictly increasing. Again, by inverting the order symbol, one finds a corresponding concept called strictly decreasing. Functions that are strictly increasing or decreasing are one-to-one (because for not equal to , either or and so, by monotonicity, either or , thus is not equal to .)
Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with the aim of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. The organization produces short lectures in the form of YouTube videos. In addition to micro lectures, the organization's website features practice exercises and tools for educators. All resources are available for free to anyone around the world. The main language of the website is English, but the content is also available in other languages.
The founder of the organization, Salman Khan, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States to immigrant parents from Bangladesh and India. After earning three degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (a BS in mathematics, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and an MEng in electrical engineering and computer science), he pursued an MBA from Harvard Business School.
In late 2004, Khan began tutoring his cousin Nadia who needed help with math using Yahoo!'s Doodle notepad. When other relatives and friends sought similar help, he decided that it would be more practical to distribute the tutorials on YouTube. The videos' popularity and the testimonials of appreciative students prompted Khan to quit his job in finance as a hedge fund analyst at Connective Capital Management in 2009, and focus on the tutorials (then released under the moniker "Khan Academy") full-time.
In all the examples I have used in this video, by increasing or decreasing I mean strictly increasing or strictly decreasing unless otherwise stated.

In this math lesson we explore how to increase or decrease an amount by a given percentage - through simple multiplication. The method for doing this type of percentage problem is as follows, where we find 35 increased by 20%. First we start with the whole amount - in this case 35. Percentages describe a number expressed as a fraction of 100, so as 35 is the whole amount it is 100% or 100/100 or 1. To take off 20% we are taking off 20/100 or 0.2 of this - so 1 - 0.2 = 0.8. 0.8 of 35 is the same as 0.8 x 35 = 28.0.

You asked a good question about what to do if you notice that your milk supply is decreasing. I'm assuming that you're pumping because you do have a milk supply but it's decreasing to less than what you'd like or less than what you've had in the past. It sounds like you're working and pumping while you're gone. If you're nursing your baby when you're home that's also a good thing. In order to increase your supply there are a couple of things you can do. First of all, milk supply is normally a supply and demand type of thing. The more you nurse or pump the more your body will produce. If possible, while you're at work nurse more frequently. If you normally pumped every three to four hours try to pump every two hours if that would work with your work schedule. When you're at home wi...
Watch more Circular Knitting Tutorials videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/514422-How-to-Decrease-on-Circular-Needles-Circular-Knitting So, I'm going to show you how to work decreases on a circular needle. The thing to remember is that there is no edge. Right? Because if we're knitting in the round, there's no right edge or left edge to have to balance decreases on. But there are a few different ways of doing decreases, and this is all pattern-dependent and garment-dependent. So I'll show you a few different ways of arranging your decreases. This is a hat that I knit in the round on a 60-inch circular. So, I knit around and around with a knit two, pearl two ribbing, and then I knit a long section of straight stockinette. And when I got to the top, it was time to start decreasing eve...

Physic leaders such as Professor Davies mocked. Twenty years later the world began to catch up. Professor John D Barrow ( Manchester Uni) said in New Scientist 24th July, 1999. p29. all the big cosmological problems will simply melt away , if you break one rule, the rule that says the speed of light never varies. Since then many astromers have begun to accept the slowing of light. Now you can see Barry Setterfield's latest works filmed live along with Creation Research team...

Flying so high, trying to remember
how many cigarettes did I bring along?
When I get down I'll jump in a taxi cab
driving through London town
to cry you a song.
It's been a long time --
still shaking my wings.
Well, I'm a glad bird
I got changes to ring.
Closing my dream inside its paper-bag.
Thought I saw angels
but I could have been wrong.
Search in my case,
can't find what they're looking for.
Waving me through
to cry you a song.
It's been a long time --
still shaking my wings.
Well I'm a glad bird
I got changes to ring.
Lights in the street,
peeping through curtains drawn.
Rattling of safety chain taking too long.
The smile in your eyes was never so sweet before --
Came down from the skies
