Kut
Al-Kūt (Arabic: الكوت; BGN: Al Kūt; also spelled Kut al-Imara or Kut El Amara; Kurdish: Kût; Turkish: Kut'ül Ammare or Kut) is a city in eastern Iraq, on the left bank of the Tigris River, about 160 kilometres (99 miles) south east of Baghdad. As of 2003 the estimated population is about 374,000 people. It is the capital of the province long known as Al Kut, but since the 1960s renamed Wasit.
The old town of Kut is within a sharp "U" bend of the river, almost making it an island but for a narrow connection to the shore. For centuries Kut was a regional center of the carpet trade. The area around Kut is a fertile cereal grain growing region. The Baghdad Nuclear Research Facility, looted following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, is located near Kut.
The Kut Barrage was constructed in the city in the 1930s to provide irrigation water for the surrounding area. The barrage supports a road and includes a lock for boats passing up and down the Tigris. Its purpose is to maintain a sufficiently high water level in the Tigris to provide water for the Gharraf irrigation canal.

Numerous monuments of the ancient Roman settlement can still be seen here today. The statue portraying Gaius Julius Caesar is exhibited in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna but the fourth century bronze statue of the Goddess Aphrodite remain unfazed in the east archeological collection. The Renaissance Garibaldi Palace and the holiday house of the Croatian writer Dežulović are worth mentioning among monuments of the later centuries.
The parish church name after the Sicilian Madonna was built on the 16th century. Marshall Tito conducted some of the partisan battles fought against the Germans from one of the bomb proof caves of Vis. Later the Yugoslavian people's army was stationed here and archeologist found the remains of numerous Hellenistic and even earlier buildings only when they passed their territories over to the local government after the South Slav war. The excavation of this is still in progress.
The museum of local history was placed in the forest called Bataria. The late Baroque church of Saint Cipriana Justine is the only cruciform church in the vicinity. The port of Viska serves as a port for ferries, tourist boats, fishing boats as well as private yachts. Did you know that Marinos, the founder of the first European republic San Marino was born in the Croatian islands?
The most significant figure of Renaissance miniature painting Julije Klović was born here and Pelecio Pegetech [ph] who set on the throne of Saint Peter as Pope Sixtus V. We could of course also mention Marco Polo and Nicole Lutista the inventor.
The founder of the first military band, the inventors of the fountain pen, the zeppelin and finger print identification were all Croatian. The neckties also a Croatian invention to which is old name "crovat" Refers. The wrecks of three sunken boats also lore divers in the vicinity of Vis. Its interesting that the Austrian Brioni, The Greek Vasilios and the Italian Teti were all marooned here in the 1930's.
There was no treasure on the boats but a dive near the shores of Vis can be an exciting adventure anyway for experienced divers. The capital of the island bearing the same name was born from the union of two settlements, Kut and Luka. It lies on the northern coast of the island in a wide bay.
Numerous monuments of the ancient Roman settlement can still be seen here today. The statue portraying Gaius Julius Caesar is exhibited in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna but the fourth century bronze statue of the Goddess Aphrodite remain unfazed in the east archeological collection. The Renaissance Garibaldi Palace and the holiday house of the Croatian writer Dežulović are worth mentioning among monuments of the later centuries.
The parish church name after the Sicilian Madonna was built on the 16th century. Marshall Tito conducted some of the partisan battles fought against the Germans from one of the bomb proof caves of Vis. Later the Yugoslavian people's army was stationed here and archeologist found the remains of numerous Hellenistic and even earlier buildings only when they passed their territories over to the local government after the South Slav war. The excavation of this is still in progress.
The museum of local history was placed in the forest called Bataria. The late Baroque church of Saint Cipriana Justine is the only cruciform church in the vicinity. The port of Viska serves as a port for ferries, tourist boats, fishing boats as well as private yachts. Did you know that Marinos, the founder of the first European republic San Marino was born in the Croatian islands?
The most significant figure of Renaissance miniature painting Julije Klović was born here and Pelecio Pegetech [ph] who set on the throne of Saint Peter as Pope Sixtus V. We could of course also mention Marco Polo and Nicole Lutista the inventor.
The founder of the first military band, the inventors of the fountain pen, the zeppelin and finger print identification were all Croatian. The neckties also a Croatian invention to which is old name "crovat" Refers. Thailand is one of those countries that when you visit you will never forget. You will either remember the food, the nature, the people, the clubs, the islands ...
Thailand is one of those countries that when you visit you will never forget. You will either remember the food, the nature, the people, the clubs, the islands or all of those combined.
One of the best things you can definitely do in Thailand is explore all the islands. Well, at least some of them. Some people go to the most touristic islands. But if you are like me, after the busy Bangkok you might like to go to a more chill out island, where you can just drive a scooter and go from beach to beach.
We decided to head to Koh-Kood, a very pretty island, with not so many tourists. Some of the beaches had NO PEOPLE on them and were purely amazing.
We could scotter ride around and just explore. Just for the sake of exploring.
After a couple of days of peace we were ready for more adventures and that is when we headed to Koh-Chang. Koh-Chang was a neighbouring island with again AMAZING NATURE, but more touristic. We went there with a speed-boat (which was a bumpy experience).
