Mahler is a 1974 biographical film based on the life of composer Gustav Mahler. It was written and directed by Ken Russell for Goodtimes Enterprises, and starred Robert Powell as Gustav Mahler and Georgina Hale as Alma Mahler. The film was entered into the 1974 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Technical Grand Prize.
After a spectacular prelude, the film begins on a train journey with Gustav Mahler (Robert Powell) and his wife Alma (Georgina Hale) confronting their failing marriage. The story is then recounted in a series of flashbacks (some of which are surrealistic and nightmarish), taking one through Mahler's childhood, his brother's suicide, his experience with anti-semitism, his conversion from Judaism to Catholicism, his marital problems, and the death of his young daughter. The film also contains a surreal fantasy sequence involving the anti-Semitic Cosima Wagner (Antonia Ellis), widow of Richard Wagner, whose objections to his taking control of the Court Opera were supposedly removed by his conversion to Catholicism. In the process, the film explores Mahler's music and its relationship to his life.

Plot: After killing four persons in his home with a shotgun, Dee Travis claims that he had accidentally ingested an experimental biotoxin that the company Blackthorn where he worked was researching. Travis is sent visibly ill to the Harwood Maximum Security Prison and the Security Officer Sweeny sends the inmate to the infirmary. Meanwhile the CDC Agent Samantha Beckett comes to the prison to interview Travis and is received by Warden Mahler. While they are having a conversation, they are informed that Travis has been transferred to the solitary confinement and his infected blood has caused an outbreak among the prisoners and guards. Samantha calls the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the responsible advises the warden that the prison is in quarantine.

Plot: In the post-apocalyptic future where television sets are more important than food, TV ratings are the all important currency of the nation. A new technique of preventing viewers from channel surfing proves somewhat detrimental to particularly sedentary couch potatoes. The top studio becomes concerned: dead viewers make for low ratings. Edison Carter, top news reporter, is sent to find out more. After a motorcycle accident, his mind is preserved by wizz-kid Bryce and becomes his wise cracking, computer generated alter-ego: Max Headroom, who manages to boost ratings above those of any live hosts to date. This made for TV movie was later remade (sanitized version) as the first episode of the series.

Plot: After his divorced wife dies, Jim Burke takes their son who she had been raising and he hasn't seen in many years. Jim Burke is a tough, hard-nosed construction boss on engineering projects, and he is looking forward to molding Little Jim into his own image. Jim Burke is more than a little bit dismayed and a whole lot disgusted when Little Jim arrives and it doesn't take Big Jim long to figure out that Little Jim...ain't nothing but a sissy. Little Jim is fond of practicing on his violin and reading and studying. What's a poor father to do?

A cinematic response to Luchino Visconti's 1971 adaptation of Death in Venice,Mahler stars Robert Powell as the great Jewish romantic composer. Whilst the film is the least ostentatious of Russell's movies about music, it is hardly conventional--a mix of lyrical tableaux and comic fantasy that adds up to a stirring, dreamlike experience. Mahler's convertion from judaism to catholicism. As imagined by Ken Russell in his movie 'Mahler' (1974)
Both trifles and structure are tossed out the door by director Ken Russell in this film. Here, historical content matters not so much as metaphors, feelings, emotions, and interpretations, and pay close attention, as every word and frame is intended to be important. The film takes place on a single train ride, in which the sickly composer Gustav Mahler and his wife, Alma, confront the reasons behind their faltered marriage and dying love. Each word seems to evoke memories of past, and so the audience witnesses events of Mahler's life that explain somewhat his present state. Included are his turbulent and dysfunctional family life as a child, his discovery of solace in the "natural" world, his brother's suicide, his [unwanted] conversion from Judiasm to Catholicism, his rocky marriage and t...

Mahler - I Have lost Touch with the World, documental de Frank Scheffer, está basado en la 9ª Sinfonía de Mahler. En las cuatro partes de esta película, el famoso director Riccardo Chailly, junto con el mundialmente aclamado biógrafo de Mahler, Henry-Louis de la Grange, analizan los cuatro movimientos de esta obra maestra. Living down a certain life
Troubles to appear
Guided by an ancient heart
No time for even fear
Deception of a shoveled earth
Too many seem like hell
Dying to resist temptation
Gods of greed will tell
Living down the line
Medication XTC
Living down the line
Living...
Across the edge of sanity
Where God and silence dwell
Destroyer of the golden lamb
Shall spend a night in hell
I have turned down all the lights
To walk the unknown veils
I have sworn to kill the man
In charge of hunting whales
Breed a horse that you can't feed
As the money eats the Red
Trust in vomit and disease
When the blood of all is shed
Will we see the dawn of darkness
Never occurred before
At the shores of the lake of fire
Exploring the bestial whore
Transcend my voice and mould my head
Too many dwell in pain
Summoned by a crimson soul
Let's drink the poisoned rain
Subordinate the weeping preacher
My curtain has been drawn
Towards the terror of seclusion
At dawn I will be gone
