Chandrahasan is a 1936 Tamil-language film directed by Bengali filmmaker Profulla Ghosh. Chandrahasan, who had acted in 22 films, both Tamil and Telugu, was the administrator and partner in Kamal's production banner Raj Kamal Films International. He played a crucial role in holding talks with Muslim groups in the run up to the release of Kamal's film Vishwaroopam in 2013. The film was caught in a storm of protests following allegations that it was anti-Islam. It was later released with a few cuts.

Suhasini Maniratnam
Suhasini Maniratnam is an actress known for her works in South Indian Cinema. She made her film debut in 1980 with the Tamil film Nenjathai Killathe for which she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. Suhasini has won the National Film Award for Best Actress for Sindhu Bhairavi in 1986. She has received five Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Kannada,one Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu, Two Kerala State Film Awards, and has garnered state awards like, Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, Nandi Awards.
Early life and career
Suhasini was born to actor Charuhasan, at Chennai in the prominent Haasan family. She got married to film director Mani Ratnam in 1988 and the couple has a son Nandan born in 1991.
Film career
A student of cinematography from the Madras Film Institute, Suhasini started her career as a camera assistant to Ashok Kumar and later went on to become an actress. Suhasini has acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films. She started her career as a make-up artist for several leading actors at that time. She is extremely popular in Kannada movies. Her films Bandhana directed by Rajendra Singh Babu and Suprabhatha, directed by Dinesh Baboo was a blockbuster, and thus became one of the most bankable stars of Kannada cinema of the time.

Suhasini Maniratnam Speech At Chandrahasan memorial
Chandrahasan is a 1936 Tamil-language film directed by Bengali filmmaker Profulla Ghosh. Chandrahasan, who had acted in 22 films, both Tamil and Telugu, was the administrator and partner in Kamal's production banner Raj Kamal Films International. He played a crucial role in holding talks with Muslim groups in the run up to the release of Kamal's film Vishwaroopam in 2013. The film was caught in a storm of protests following allegations that it was anti-Islam. It was later released with a few cuts. Chandrahasan's daughter Anu is an actor and anchored the popular 'Coffee with Anu' in a Tamil TV channel. Superstar Rajinikanth condoled the demise of late Chandrahasan, elder brother of veteran actor Kamal Haasan at Kamaraj Arangam in Chennai today.

He played a crucial role in holding talks with Muslim groups in the run up to the release of Kamal's film Vishwaroopam in 2013. The film was caught in a storm of protests following allegations that it was anti-Islam. It was later released with a few cuts.
Chandrahasan's daughter Anu is an actor and anchored the popular 'Coffee with Anu' in a Tamil TV channel.

Theirs was a beautiful fusion Indian Wedding. With the first day full of color at the Villa Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga. The second day was pure fun, with lots of good food and wine at San Francisco's Bluxome Street Winery.
We got to meet the whole family and they made US feel like family as well. This wedding film was an absolute joy to put together, and we hope you enjoy experiencing it!

Raavanan, the new Indian film produced in both Hindi and Tamil, premiered at the Tenth Annual Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council (MIAAC) Film Festival in New York City this week and I was on the red carpet meeting the biggest names in Bollywood - and beyond - for the occasion.
This morning I had the honor of interviewing India's Steven Spielberg - Mani Ratnam, producer of 22 films and married to mega-star and co-writer Suhasini Maniratnam. Time magazine included Mani's 1987 film Nayagan in its All-Time 100 Best Films. We chatted for 30 minutes in the heart of Manhattan about his latest epic film set in the heart of South India's jungle.

Based loosely on the incredible Sanskrit two thousand-year old legend of Ramayana - "Rama's Journey" - the film is a metaphor for Modern India, set in the Tamil South. His last film was more low-brow: the low brow hit comedy Guru which many of us saw in-flight in 2007.

The film follows the tale of a lower-caste Kathakali artist Kunhikuttan (Mohanlal) during the 1940s era in Travancore. Subhadra (Suhasini), a member of an aristocratic family, falls in love with the character Arjuna played by Kunikuttan. She views Kunikuttan and the character he plays as separate individuals. Their affair eventually leads to the birth of a son, who is hidden away by Subhadra from Kunijuttan for almost a lifetime.

ICAF started organizing CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CIFF) from the year 2003. All the earlier editions have seen a gradual growth in terms of attendance as well as popularity. With the film fraternity actively joining hands with ICAF since its 8th edition, the 11th edition of CIFF promises to be bigger and better.
Striving to be in par with the best International Film Festivals across the globe, CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Indian Panorama films to the cinema loving city of Chennai, just as it showcases the best of Tamil films to the world.
The Competition Section for Tamil Films that was instituted in 7th CIFF to encourage Tamil Filmmakers has been holding a strong presence. Active participation of the Tamil film fraternity was initiated and spearheaded by Ms. Suhasini Manirathnam in the year 2009, which gave a facelift to CIFF.
ICAF's management team includes professional from various walks of life who have a passion for movies. The senior members of ICAF include but not limited to: Mr. Kannan, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. Santhanam and Mr. Thangaraj (Festival Director), Mr. Murali, Mr. Srinivasan and more. ICAF is ably supported by the South Indian Film Chamber, Producers Council, Artists & Directors Association.
The film Fraternity team providing active support to ICAF include: Ms. Suhasini, Mr. Sarathkumar, Mr.Mohan, Ms. Revathy, Ms. Rohini, Mr. Jayendra, Mr. Manobala, Ms. Lizzy, Ms. Poornima, Ms. Shylaja and many more. The festival's presence is felt on the web, social network sites, TV and FM radio apart from the print medium. The curtain-raiser press meets, opening and closing ceremonies, gala cultural shows, Chennai Film Forum Panel Discussions, Exclusive 'Red Carpet' evening screenings for an invited audience etc., all studded with film personalities from international, national and popular regional cinema all add substantially to the festival's experience. Versatility and creativity will go hand in hand at the CIFF to give an exceptional experience.

With the film fraternity actively joining hands with ICAF since its 8th edition, the 11th edition of CIFF promises to be bigger and better.
