Man charged after pointing lasers at aircraft south of Brisbane
Police have charged a man after he allegedly pointed a laser at a police helicopter patrolling Loganlea on Saturday night.
Police helicopter Polair 1 had been tasked to the area on Saturday following complaints from commercial airlines of lasers being pointed at them.
It is alleged about 9.40pm, a man pointed a laser at the helicopter while it was patrolling.
Footage captured from Polair 1 show a red laser being pointed at the helicopter from a man on the ground.
Polair 1 tracked the man, who fled to his address, and police then called in assistance from the Logan Dog Squad, who went to the address and allegedly found a laser.
A 22-year-old Loganlea man has been charged with threatening the safety of an aircraft or of persons on board an aircraft and possessing restricted items.
He is due to appear before the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
