Radar Radio

"Radar Radio" is a single performed by Giorgio Moroder featuring Joe Pizzulo and written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock. It was featured in the film Top Gun. The song was released in 1986 as a B-side to the hit split single that featured Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" on the A-side (which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song as well as the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song in 1987). "Radar Radio" has not been included on any of the Top Gun soundtracks issued to date, making the vinyl single the only release. The song has never been released on CD.

In the film Top Gun, the song is heard playing on a juke box at a bar during the last scene of the film as Tom Cruise's character has a drink. Only a few seconds of the song are heard before "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" comes on the juke box.

Joe Pizzulo

Joe Pizzulo is an American vocalist best known as one of the lead singers on 1980s hit singles credited to Sérgio Mendes, including "Never Gonna Let You Go" (from Mendes' self-titled 1983 album) and "Alibis" (from the 1984 album Confetti). Pizzulo has had several singles and soundtrack appearances, but he is also a prominent background singer for many artists.

Joe Pizzulo started his music career with a band called Roadshow in 1969 after attending Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio. His singing partners in that band were Buddy Cattafa and Debbie Komara. Later, he became a member of Brainchild. He eventually moved to California in 1974 and started a new band called White Licorice. By the time 1979 came around he was touring with Alice Cooper as a background singer. His career quickly took off after that with his recording of "Never Gonna Let You Go" for Sérgio Mendes.

Pizzulo's daughter auditioned in the seventh season of The Voice under the name of Sugar Joans and earned a spot in coach Gwen Stefani's team.
