The Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in Princess Diana 's signature tiara and a necklace borrowed from The Queen last night as Britain rolled out the red carpet for the Spanish state visit.
Kate and William joined The Queen and Prince Philip as they host King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain for a glittering State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.
It was just the sixth time Kate has worn a tiara and the third time she has chosen the pearl and diamond Cambridge Lover's Knot, which was given to Diana as a wedding present from The Queen in 1981.
The Duchess teamed the glittering headpiece with a dress by Marchesa and a dazzling necklace belonging to The Queen - the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau Necklace, a V shaped diamond and ruby collar ending in a diamond drop pendant.
The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made by royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down through royal generations.
It was allegedly so heavy that it gave Diana headaches, however she wore it several times.
After her death it was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate, who has worn it twice before - at the annual Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015 and 2016.
Kate also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Glamorous Queen Letizia, in her third outfit of the day, was also wearing a tiara and a full-length evening gown. Buckingham is a town in north Buckinghamshire, England, close to the borders of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire. The town has a population of 12,043 (United Kingdom Census 2011). Buckingham is also a civil parish designated as a town council.
Buckingham was declared the county town of Buckinghamshire in the 10th century when it was made the capital of the newly formed shire of Buckingham until Aylesbury took over this role early in the 18th century.
Buckingham has a variety of restaurants and pubs, typical of a small market town. It has a number of local shops, both national and independent. Market days are Tuesday and Saturday which take over Market Hill and the High Street cattle pens. Buckingham is twinned with Mouvaux, France.
History
Buckingham and the surrounding area has been settled for some time with evidence of Roman settlement found in several sites close the River Great Ouse, including a temple south of the A421 at Bourton Grounds which was excavated in the 1960s and dated to the 3rd century AD. A possible Roman building was identified at Castle Fields in the 19th century. Pottery, kiln furniture and areas of burning found at Buckingham industrial estate suggest the site of some early Roman pottery kilns here.

Lindsey Adams Buckingham (born October 3, 1949) is an American musician, singer and songwriter, best known as guitarist and male vocalist of the musical group Fleetwood Mac from 1975 to 1987, and then 1997 to the present day. Aside from his tenure with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has also released six solo albums and three live albums. As a member of Fleetwood Mac, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. In 2011, Buckingham was ranked 100th in Rolling Stone Magazine's 2011 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". Buckingham is known for his fingerpicking guitar style.
Early years
Born in Palo Alto, California, Lindsey Adams Buckingham was the third and youngest child of Rutheda (née Elliott) and Morris Buckingham. He had two older brothers, Jeff and Greg. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area community of Atherton, Buckingham and his brothers were encouraged to swim competitively. Though Buckingham dropped out of athletics to pursue music, his brother Greg went on to win a silver medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Buckingham attended San Jose State University but did not graduate.

Buckingham Palace (UK /ˈbʌkɪŋəm/ /ˈpælɪs/) is the London residence and principal workplace of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as "The Queen's House". During the 19th century it was enlarged, principally by architects John Nash and Edward Blore, who constructed three wings around a central courtyard. Christine McVie
Christine Anne Perfect (born 12 July 1943), professionally known as Christine McVie after her marriage to John McVie of Fleetwood Mac, is an English singer, keyboardist and songwriter. Her fame came as one of the lead vocalists of rock band Fleetwood Mac, joining the band in 1970, while married to bassist John McVie. She has also released three solo albums. McVie is noted for her smoky, low alto vocal performances and, as described by AllMusic critic Steve Leggett, her direct but poignant lyrics about the joys and pitfalls of love. Leggett further describes her as an "Unabashedly easy-on-the-ears singer/songwriter, and the prime mover behind some of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits." Eight of her songs appeared on Fleetwood Mac's 1988 Greatest Hits album, including "Don't Stop", "Little Lies", "Hold Me", "Everywhere", "As Long as You Follow", "Over My Head", "Say You Love Me" and "You Make Loving Fun".
In 1998, as a member of Fleetwood Mac, McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. Since retiring from the band, she has worked on solo material in her converted barn at her home in Wickhambreaux in Kent. It was just the sixth time Kate has worn a tiara and the third time she has chosen the pearl and diamond Cambridge Lover's Knot, which was given to Diana as a wedding present from The Queen in 1981.
The Duchess teamed the glittering headpiece with a dress by Marchesa and a dazzling necklace belonging to The Queen - the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau Necklace, a V shaped diamond and ruby collar ending in a diamond drop pendant.
The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made by royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down through royal generations.
It was allegedly so heavy that it gave Diana headaches, however she wore it several times.
After her death it was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate, who has worn it twice before - at the annual Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015 and 2016.
Kate also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Glamorous Queen Letizia, in her third outfit of the day, was also wearing a tiara and a full-length evening gown. Letizia also wore an impressive diamond tiara, which was a wedding present from King Alfonso XIII to his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie, who became Queen Ena of Spain - the great-grandmother of Felipe and also an ancestor of Elizabeth II. Kate is often seen as the more conservative dresser of the two with Letizia's sartorial choices considered more daring. But the Duchess's Marchesa gown featured flamboyant cuffs and a low lace V-shaped neckline at the front and back. Known for championing Spanish couturiers such as Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile, Letizia supports high street chains Zara and Mango. Kate is a fan of British labels including Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham, as well as high street labels Whistles and LK Bennett. At 35, the Duchess is nearly a decade younger than 44-year-old Letizia. Both have two children. Letizia and Felipe have two girls, 11-year-old Leonor and 10-year-old Sofia, while Kate and William have Prince George, nearly four, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte. Crown Prince Felipe's relationship with former journalist Letizia was conducted in complete secrecy until their surprise engagement was announced in 2003. Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano was already a household name - a well-recognised television presenter and award-winning reporter who covered events such as the Iraq War and 9/11. During her engagement photocall, she made headlines when she told Felipe in public to shut up. "Let me finish," she said, smiling, in front of the cameras.
Kate worked as a part-time accessories buyer for Jigsaw Junior, run by friends of her family, and then worked at her parents' firm Party Pieces.
She shot to fame because of her relationship with William, whom she met at university and dated for some eight years before they wed in 2011.
Kate has a mix of middle and working class heritage, descended from a family of solicitors and landed gentry on her father's side and butchers, plasterers, road sweepers and domestic servants on her mother's.

William, Catherine and Harry joined The Queen and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace to mark King Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia's royal visit to the UK.
The Duchess of Cambridge dazzled in Princess Diana 's signature tiara and a necklace borrowed from The Queen last night as Britain rolled out the red carpet for the Spanish state visit.
Kate and William joined The Queen and Prince Philip as they host King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain for a glittering State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.
It was just the sixth time Kate has worn a tiara and the third time she has chosen the pearl and diamond Cambridge Lover's Knot, which was given to Diana as a wedding present from The Queen in 1981.
The Duchess teamed the glittering headpiece with a dress by Marchesa and a dazzling necklace belonging to The Queen - the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau Necklace, a V shaped diamond and ruby collar ending in a diamond drop pendant.
The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made by royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down through royal generations.
It was allegedly so heavy that it gave Diana headaches, however she wore it several times.
After her death it was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate, who has worn it twice before - at the annual Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015 and 2016.
Kate also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Glamorous Queen Letizia, in her third outfit of the day, was also wearing a tiara and a full-length evening gown. Letizia also wore an impressive diamond tiara, which was a wedding present from King Alfonso XIII to his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie, who became Queen Ena of Spain - the great-grandmother of Felipe and also an ancestor of Elizabeth II. Kate is often seen as the more conservative dresser of the two with Letizia's sartorial choices considered more daring. But the Duchess's Marchesa gown featured flamboyant cuffs and a low lace V-shaped neckline at the front and back. Known for championing Spanish couturiers such as Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile, Letizia supports high street chains Zara and Mango. Kate is a fan of British labels including Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham, as well as high street labels Whistles and LK Bennett. At 35, the Duchess is nearly a decade younger than 44-year-old Letizia. Both have two children. Letizia and Felipe have two girls, 11-year-old Leonor and 10-year-old Sofia, while Kate and William have Prince George, nearly four, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte. Crown Prince Felipe's relationship with former journalist Letizia was conducted in complete secrecy until their surprise engagement was announced in 2003. Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano was already a household name - a well-recognised television presenter and award-winning reporter who covered events such as the Iraq War and 9/11. London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts.
The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created.
The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began.
Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex.
The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

interspersed with the Union Flag indicate a Norwegian State Visit in

The Duchess teamed the glittering headpiece with a dress by Marchesa and a dazzling necklace belonging to The Queen - the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau Necklace, a V shaped diamond and ruby collar ending in a diamond drop pendant.
The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made by royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down through royal generations.
It was allegedly so heavy that it gave Diana headaches, however she wore it several times.
After her death it was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate, who has worn it twice before - at the annual Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015 and 2016.
Kate also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Glamorous Queen Letizia, in her third outfit of the day, was also wearing a tiara and a full-length evening gown. Letizia also wore an impressive diamond tiara, which was a wedding present from King Alfonso XIII to his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie, who became Queen Ena of Spain - the great-grandmother of Felipe and also an ancestor of Elizabeth II. Kate is often seen as the more conservative dresser of the two with Letizia's sartorial choices considered more daring. But the Duchess's Marchesa gown featured flamboyant cuffs and a low lace V-shaped neckline at the front and back. Known for championing Spanish couturiers such as Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile, Letizia supports high street chains Zara and Mango. Kate is a fan of British labels including Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham, as well as high street labels Whistles and LK Bennett. At 35, the Duchess is nearly a decade younger than 44-year-old Letizia. Both have two children. Letizia and Felipe have two girls, 11-year-old Leonor and 10-year-old Sofia, while Kate and William have Prince George, nearly four, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte. Crown Prince Felipe's relationship with former journalist Letizia was conducted in complete secrecy until their surprise engagement was announced in 2003. The fact that she was also a divorcee led to criticism from hardline monarchists - Letizia wed a teacher in a civil ceremony 1998. Their marriage lasted just one year.
But the journalist-turned-royal bride - who became Queen consort at Felipe's side in 2014 - has proved popular with the public for her down-to-earth approach.
During her engagement photocall, she made headlines when she told Felipe in public to shut up. "Let me finish," she said, smiling, in front of the cameras.
Kate worked as a part-time accessories buyer for Jigsaw Junior, run by friends of her family, and then worked at her parents' firm Party Pieces.
She shot to fame because of her relationship with William, whom she met at university and dated for some eight years before they wed in 2011.
Kate has a mix of middle and working class heritage, descended from a family of solicitors and landed gentry on her father's side and butchers, plasterers, road sweepers and domestic servants on her mother's.

The Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara was made by royal jewellers Garrard in 1914 for Queen Mary and passed down through royal generations.
It was allegedly so heavy that it gave Diana headaches, however she wore it several times.
After her death it was kept in a safe until it was given to Kate, who has worn it twice before - at the annual Buckingham Palace diplomatic reception in 2015 and 2016.
Kate also wore Princess Diana's Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Glamorous Queen Letizia, in her third outfit of the day, was also wearing a tiara and a full-length evening gown. Letizia also wore an impressive diamond tiara, which was a wedding present from King Alfonso XIII to his wife Princess Victoria Eugenie, who became Queen Ena of Spain - the great-grandmother of Felipe and also an ancestor of Elizabeth II. Kate is often seen as the more conservative dresser of the two with Letizia's sartorial choices considered more daring. But the Duchess's Marchesa gown featured flamboyant cuffs and a low lace V-shaped neckline at the front and back. Known for championing Spanish couturiers such as Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile, Letizia supports high street chains Zara and Mango. Kate is a fan of British labels including Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham, as well as high street labels Whistles and LK Bennett. At 35, the Duchess is nearly a decade younger than 44-year-old Letizia. Both have two children. Letizia and Felipe have two girls, 11-year-old Leonor and 10-year-old Sofia, while Kate and William have Prince George, nearly four, and two-year-old Princess Charlotte. But the journalist-turned-royal bride - who became Queen consort at Felipe's side in 2014 - has proved popular with the public for her down-to-earth approach.
During her engagement photocall, she made headlines when she told Felipe in public to shut up. "Let me finish," she said, smiling, in front of the cameras.
Kate worked as a part-time accessories buyer for Jigsaw Junior, run by friends of her family, and then worked at her parents' firm Party Pieces.
She shot to fame because of her relationship with William, whom she met at university and dated for some eight years before they wed in 2011.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. Located in the City of Westminster, the palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focus for the British people at times of national rejoicing.
Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as "The Queen's House". During the 19th century it was enlarged, principally by architects John Nash and Edward Blore, who constructed three wings around a central courtyard. Buckingham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch on the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837.
The last major structural additions were made in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including the East front, which contains the well-known balcony on which the royal family traditionally congregates to greet crowds.
