Plot: After a short history on bees and bee-keeping, we find Windy the bear's attempts to steal honey from a bee hive (he is teaching his son the "right" way to get honey) only to be attacked by the bee inside. Windy tries a number of attempts to outsmart the bee. He floods the hive, dresses as a queen bee, uses a bathroom plunger to trap the bee (only to get it stuck to various parts of his body) and finally tries to dynamite it, only succeeding in blowing himself up. At the hospital, he is served honey and hotcakes in bed... by a male nurse who looks suspiciously like the bee he just tangled with!

Plot: In an effort to obtain a true story from Davis, a swindler who had taken the rap to protect some higher-ups, professional football star/reporter Jim O'Brien is sent to State Prison under fake charges. Davis has died but the district attorney and Jim's editor refuse to admit their connections to the frame-up and Jim is forced to remain behind bars. The editor promises Jim a governor's pardon after the next election, and assigns him to do a series of articles on the self-regulation system of Warden Collins. The latter allows him freedom of the prison, which throws Jim into contact with Betty Collins, the warden's daughter.

Plot: Nabb controls the pass and lets all the ranchers through except Holderness and his stolen cattle. When Nabb refuses to sell, Holderness works an his son Snap who has run up gambling debts. There is more trouble when Snap becomes jealous of Judy's attraction to the surveyor Jack. When Holderness has Snap killed, everyone heads to town for the showdown.

Plot: In 1849, Joaquin Murietta, son of a wealthy Spanish grandee, has a bitter street quarrel with three rough prospectors. He later finds the family home in ruins and his father dying---the result of an attack by the same three men; "Black" Kelly, Ike Mason and Al Goss. Joaquin goes to a mining camp to inform his brother, Juan, of the murder and, on his way, he meets Helen Lake, who has come west to teach in the town school. Determined to get possession of the rich Murietta claim, Kelly, Mason and Goss attack the camp, kill Juan and beat Joaquin into unconsciousness. But even with the Murietta claim in their possession these men do not prosper long. A mysterious bandit, known as "The Black Shadow", continually raids the stage coach which carries shipments of their ore. Captain Lake of the United States Army, who is Helen's father, offers a reward of $5,000 for the capture of "The Black Shadow", but Joaquin's disguise is too effective and he eludes capture. He posts a placard in the local saloon threatening Kelly, Mason and Goss with death... and then manages to carry out the threat without committing bloodshed himself; Kelly is inadvertently shot by Goss and Goss also hits Mason while firing wildly at "The Black Shadow." Goss gets his when Joaquin forces him to wear the costume of "The Black Shadow" and is shot down by a mob. Columbia remade this in 1942 as the last entry in the studio's eight-film series starring Bill Elliott and Tex Ritter, with Elliott in the Murietta role and Ritter in a revised version of the "Captain Lake" role, minus the daughter.
