Marie Vasek, Research Scientist
@mjvasek

After working as StopBadware's testing intern from 2011-2012, Marie rejoined StopBadware in August 2013 as the organization's research scientist. She manages the malware testing process, investigates trends in Web-based malware, and maintains StopBadware's systems and server infrastructure.

Marie is a PhD student in computer science at the University of Tulsa. Her research interests include computer security, particularly in using economics as a tool to help explain how cybercriminals operate. She earned her B.A. from Wellesley College with departmental honors in computer science and her M.S. from Southern Methodist University. In her free time—albeit rare—she enjoys baking bread, hiking in the woods, and reading a slew of webcomics.
