It’s about the stories that originate from within the old sea weathered Victorian and Edwardian homes that make up this secluded village perched on the craggy bluffs of a moody ocean. Stories played out on a tiny sailboat moored in a salty harbor. Stories viewed through cracks in the wood of old barns. Sometimes the lives in these stories intertwine, while others take off on a path of unpredictability, leaving drama, comedy and romance in wake. He accepted her gift with slight reservation, since it meant leaving New York where he’s been struggling to make it as a writer and musician for the last twenty years. That’s where Mazzy’s boat is buoyed. That’s where she lives. She loves her cozy little boat nestled in the foggy harbor. She’s such a Sundays’ girl. Born and raised at the end a country dirt road bordered by crooked old fences and blackberry bushes. Beautiful and sweeter than honey, Mazzy. She’s not even aware of how heavenly she is. But Chapter, Mazzy’s closest friend since childhood, is. 16 BLACKBERRY LANE. Chapter has never lived anywhere else. He doesn’t really care to either. After all, he has such fond memories everywhere he turns on his family’s property. That old barn by the apple orchard is where he first kissed Mazzy and subsequently fell in love. He’s been in love ever since. God, he hates Molly. Why did she have to move back here and ruin everything? 42 CASPAR RD. That’s where Molly’s rents her room in that large Victorian on the corner. She never thought she would be living in this secluded village again. She hated it when her parents moved her here when she was a teenager, and vowed never to come back when she bolted to the city at the age of eighteen. But six years apparently wasn’t long enough to erase the magnetism she feels for Mazzy. 127 DRIFTWOOD DRIVE. The Brown family’s home. Oscar Brown, the man househusband of the house, might not be the most perfect husband in the world, but he kicks ass as a Dad. For all the laundry, cleaning and shuffling the kids around he does, you would think his wife Chelsea might be a little more appreciative. And maybe he’d be a little more perfect if Chelsea looked at him the way the other moms do at Riley and Francis’ school. Chelsea on the other hand doesn’t really feel the need to shower Oscar with praise for these simple domestic chores. After all, if it wasn’t for her getting up at the crack of dawn and going to a real job, listening to couples on the brink of divorce bitch and moan about each other’s shortcomings, then he wouldn’t have the luxury to be a stay at home dad. Riley loves it that her Dad is home when she gets back from school. She thinks he’s the coolest Dad ever. The only issue is his culinary skills are rather limited. She likes how nice he is to all of her friend’s moms, always talking to them on the phone for hours, arranging play dates he tells her. She loves her Mom just as much, even though she gets agitated so easily, but understands because she works a lot. Francis’ whole life has changed since discovering girls. He seldom has time for other thoughts. If it wasn’t for his meddlesome sister Riley, he would have even more time to explore his ever growing curiosity.
