The steak way wayyyy too small for the price. I got a hockey puck for a steak with a huge mound of potatoes a broccoli. They filled the plate up with the sides to cover for the fact that the steak was incredibly small which just made the whole look of the dinner plate unappealing. We both ordered steak and usually a steak is very filling so we skipped the appetizers. We both completely finished our steak and there was a huge mound of broccoli and potatoes that were untouched left on the plate which was just too much filler. I would prefer to actually have a decent sized steak and less filler because the cut of meat is what at the end of the day you are paying for. I wont be ordering steak here ever again. With that said; the steak was well cooked and the food was overall tasty. I just wish there had been more of it.

Our night at the Applebee's bar and grill in Manhattan, NY on May 19th was excellent. It wasn't crowded so we decided to sit in the bar part of the restaurant but it was so incredibly hot back there we choose the dining room instead which was fine because we sat right by the window and could see the people outside still awake and walking around at midnight. Not like in Philly where everything is closed or closing in a couple of hours. Anyway, our server Robert P. was fantastic! And that's what me and my husband looks for when we go out, excellent customer service. He talked to us, asked us where we were from, gave me extra on my drink, made sure our meal and experience was wonderful so we didn't mind giving up that $20 tip. He made us feel like we were friends.

While the food was excellent the service was horrible last night. We were a table of 12, some of us paid in cash & some in credit. The waitress was very rude. Not only did she add a $5 tip to each credit card transaction but she spoke so rudely & so loud that the entire area we were sitting at could hear. The menu clearly states the 18% tip was at our discretion but she demanded it & would not leave until she got it. To be honest she didn't deserve a tip. Due to this experience I doubt any of us will frequent this location again.

Food was only ok. Most items on the menu had a very high salt content. One member of our party had to have a salad due to the high salt content of the other menu items. The restaurant was dated and a few of the booth needed to be refurbished as the seating was damaged. Staff were friendly, but when the restaurant did not have the beer I ordered, our server brought a replacement beer without asking if it was suitable. The replacement beer was suitable, but it would have been nice to have been asked. I would not eat in Applebee's again due to these factors.

I never go out to place a bad review. I'm the guy who leaves a $20 tip on a $35 meal because a server was friendly and went out of her way to smile and give excellent service. But the idea that you impose a 18% tip is insane. The service was on par and the food was basic. A tip has always been about the quality of service, not a way to subsidise wages. Bad form Applebees.

Food wasn't great, my steak which I ordered as medium well was done well done and chewy, I like the food at Danny's better and the prices are more reasonable, in fact I had 2 dinners at Danny's, doubt I'll ever go back to eating at Applebees again

Drinks were not good. Very spicy food and it didn't seem fresh. Also, I told the waitress I wanted to pay my tip in Cash, and se charged me 18% tip on my credit card anyway! And she even asked for more cash while I was leaving! 100% awful. Don't go!!!!!!!!!! It's a waste of time, money and taste!!!!!
