2009 was a watershed of activism and engagement on climate change. The Global Call for Climate Action’s tcktcktck campaign united 470 plus organisations and mobilised millions of people around the world in the lead up to the UN climate summit in Copenhagen through petitions, demonstrations, and other actions.
Thanks to tcktcktck supporters, Copenhagen became a tipping point for awareness of climate change around the world, and civic activism pressured political leaders to do something about it.
Now we have a global climate agreement that includes all nations… but we are still a long way from overcoming the threat.
