It is not just the fields, it is the animals. I was born in 1937, when I walked in the fields they were always crowded with animals – stoats, foxes, rabbits, weasels, field mice – now fields are sterile.
Human being are certainly the greatest and most ruthless carnivores and killers. Stoats and foxes were active carnivores. but there was always balance, not wholesale slaughter.
