In response to our latest blog, Les is doubling down, repeating his claim that β€œgreat strides” have been made over the past seven years in recruiting non-Grey-Book workers. The claim is, of course, utterly unsustainable. The whole exercise has been a major failure. Read our blog.

At the June EC meeting we identified 226 Green Book members, that number is growing every day. Some regions attract more than others but great strides have been made. Remember the Brid agrmnt and the Rule Book has to be taken into account. We continue that work.

It seems that a number of senior FBU officials have us in their sights. They are circling their wagons in defence of a tired and discredited leadership. We wear their attacks as a badge of honour. This is the litany of wrongdoing they are defending. ⬇️

This seems to have become the standard rebuttal of senior FBU officials to any criticism of their actions: "Raise it at your branch meeting." It's pure deflection - a bit like Keir Starmer saying, "Raise it at your CLP meeting" whenever some criticises him.

I’m not defending anything, explaining the case was made by conference in May. Other conference announcements mean there’s other factors. I’m sure you can get the latest update at your next branch meeting

Well, I'm still an active member of and would be willing to be part of any media campaign putting the case for firefighters and the fire service. They know where to find me.

Good to see that at least @PaulEmbery is promoting the UK fire service. The @fbunational should appoint him to their PR team. twitter.com/GBNEWS/status/…

I am NOT anti vax Myself & my wife Lisa both had the vaccine Sadly, Lisa isn’t here any more because of it. That is a fact I have to face up to daily. Rare, unlucky… perhaps. But whatever you want to call it, Lisa was undoubtedly my ONE IN A MILLION πŸ’” #VaccineDeaths

A great result. Hats off to , which seems to be the only trade union willing to resist the creeping authoritarianism we are seeing in the workplace. The rest of the trade union movement has failed abjectly to stand up for freedom of expression.

With our help, Simon Isherwood has won his Employment Tribunal case against West Midlands Trains! The rail conductor was dismissed for gross misconduct after asking whether indigenous populations enjoy 'black privilege' in African countries during a diversity training course.

I’ll never stop speaking up for firefighters and the fire service. The fact that was found by an employment tribunal to have unfairly dismissed me after a β€œwitch-hunt” instigated by won’t stop me doing that.

@PaulEmbery was shit on by the Fire Service Union and he still promotes their best interests. Talk about rising above…

FBU members are being badly let down by a sclerotic and authoritarian leadership. A change is long overdue.

Not a single media interview with the general secretary or his deputy during one of the most tumultuous weeks in the modern history of the UK fire and rescue service, and when the FBU was presented with the ideal opportunity to make the case on cuts and pay. Not good enough.

Can we have an explanation, please, ? The past 48 hours have provided an ideal opportunity for the union to get its message across in the media. Yet senior officials have been conspicuous by their absence. What is going on?

The absence of FBU officials from the media over the past couple of days is bizarre. We need an explanation. I know from experience that it is very likely the union's head office would have been besieged with requests for interviews.

After taking 3 bullets in Vietnam (2 in the neck), beating a 6 month life expectancy prognosis in 2004 (stage 4 colon cancer), & surviving a widowmaker heart attack a handful of years ago, my dad, my favorite veteran, & my biggest hero turns 76 today. Can he get a RT & HBD? ❀️πŸ₯³

I just switched on the BBC, the weather woman was waxing lyrical about how she’s never known heat like this as she pointed to a map of the UK in blood red colours, to make the earth look scorched. The hyperbole and rhetoric of fear is utterly shameful. It’s summer for God’s sake.

Always saddened when seeing the planning vandalism in Cardiff. New soulless buildings with grey concrete everywhere. Hardly any trees planted in wide dull spaces, yet Labour expect farmers to plant trees on food producing land πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Planning needs to change. Labour needs to change.

I'll tell you something, Ash. If you think I'm guilty of a "moral panic" because I object to a biological male p**sing in the same female toilet space as my 12-year-old daughter, you're an enemy of mine and I wouldn't want you anywhere near my kids.

My side of the argument is that trans people should be able to live their lives in peace and dignity. And, instead of having a big moral panic about who pisses where, politicians should concentrate on dealing with a cost of living crisis which is going to kill people this winter. twitter.com/PaulEmbery/sta…

Cost-of-living crisis, public services not working, real wages crashing, housing crisis, huge gap between rich and poor, millions in insecure employment, crackpot cultural revolutionaries on the march … Amid all the SW1 drama, these are the things that matter. Don’t forget it.

"Human beings cannot change sex. It is not hateful to say that. I was a victim of discrimination because I stated that biological sex is real - a view shared by the vast majority of people in this country. I hope employers will take note of the judgment."
