The 1975 are a British alternative rock band formed in Manchester. The group consists of Matthew Healy (vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums, backing vocals) and Ross MacDonald (bass).
They have released four EPs, while their self-titled debut album was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit/Polydor. The album debuted at number 1 in the UK Albums Chart on 8 September 2013. The band has toured internationally.
Matthew Healy (b. 8 April 1989), the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy, grew up in Newcastle and Manchester. He met Ross MacDonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel at Wilmslow High School. In Wilmslow, Cheshire, south of Manchester, as teenagers and began to play music in 2002. The band formed when the local council worker organised a number of gigs for teenagers. Healy found Hann who "came up to [him] and said he wanted to play one of these shows." The band began by playing a number of covers until they "eventually wrote a song," according to Healy. "We started from then and we've been making music together since we were about 15." After Hann invited the members to form a band, they passed their early days covering punk songs in a local club. Healy was originally the drummer but took over vocals after the previous singer left to start another band. George Daniel was recruited as the new drummer to complete the final line-up.

The Avalanches are an Australian electronic music group known for their debut plunderphonics album Since I Left You (2000), as well as their live and recorded DJ sets. Their lineup has undergone major changes over the years, but currently consists of Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and James Dela Cruz. The Avalanches' only full-length album, Since I Left You, was a critical and commercial success. The album received multiple awards and has been considered both one of the best Australian albums and top albums of the 2000s. The group has been working on a second studio album since at least 2005, including multiple guest collaborators since 2012.
Three of The Avalanches' future members formed Alarm 115 in Melbourne in 1994 as a noise punk outfit inspired by Drive Like Jehu, The Fall, and Ultra Bidet. The line-up was Robbie Chater on keyboards, Tony Di Blasi on keyboards, bass and backing vocals, and Darren Seltmann on vocals. By 1995, Manabu Etoh joined on drums, the group bought instruments, recording gear and numerous old vinyl records by the crate at second-hand shops. When Etoh was deported and Alarm 115 disbanded, these records became the core of a new project. Chater was a film student at RMIT and had access to a recording studio, which he and Seltmann used to turn the records into a 30-song demo tape labelled Pan Amateurs. In 1997 a new group of Chater, Di Blasi, Seltmann, and Gordon McQuilten on keyboards was assembled to play the tracks live. Chater, Di Blasi and McQuilten had all been school mates in Maryborough.
The 1975 is the self-titled debut album by English rock band The 1975. It was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit and Polydor. It was recorded with Arctic Monkeys collaborator Mike Crossey. On 8 September 2013, the album debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart.
Between mid-2012 and early 2013, The 1975 released four EPs: Facedown (2012), Sex (2012), Music for Cars (2013) and IV (2013).
In 2012, in an interview with Elliot Mitchell of When the Gramophone Rings, The 1975 frontman Matt Healy said that the band had a different approach to recording the album than to the EPs: "I think the best albums are ones where every track could be a potential single. Both our EP's center around a lead track whilst showcasing a wider body of work, whereas we feel the album is lead track after lead track, with all the alternative moments captured in an accessible way." He also said that the album had been "five years in the making, formed through the many different incarnations of the band," and added that it is "drenched in our identity and it's everything that we are. It does span a lot of genres and depth, but it's still a coherent piece of work and everything that makes our band our band, personally I would say it's an ambitious debut record."

FIRST BROADCAST : 1-Jan-1983 1983...the year before the infamous 1984. It seems lifetimes ago, but that was the year that a syndicated music program called HEARTS of SPACE began to appear on public radio stations around the U.S. And that means that 2008 is the 25th anniversary of the national program. To celebrate our 25th year, we've selected 25 programs that give an overview of the series and the sound we call ambient, space and contemplative music. We're going to call the series "25 YEARS IN SPACE." Beginnings take on more significance over time, so we'll begin the series with Program Number One, "FIRST FLIGHT." On our premiere program, we featured music by a group of artists who became familiar names in the HEARTS of SPACE pantheon of composers. It's a journey across 25 years of tim...
FIRST BROADCAST : 5-Jan-1983 We're going to call this program STARMUSIC. We'll be taking a journey away from this crowded little planet of ours into the great open spaces of the starfields. We begin with electronic music from Japan by Kitaro, followed by some of VANGELIS' academy-award-winning music for the film CHARIOTS OF FIRE. We'll also be hearing more music by KITARO from his very popular SILK ROAD SUITE, in a version featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. From Colorado electronic composer DON ROBERTSON, music created on a high-tech digital synthesizer from an album *called* STARMUSIC, and a short piece from an album by one of the early 70s pioneers of the Moog synthesizer, MALCOLM CECIL. We conclude with two beautiful floating pieces of electronic starmusic from New Zealand and Ca...

It never seems enough baby
When your head is full of stuff
Then again you didnt go
And thank god you didnt though
Whats it gonna take baby
For two of us to make it
Through this one
Can we make it through this song?
Everything between us makes me glow
But how could you know?
Simple things bring simple pleasures
That we know
Or maybe they didnt show
2 used 2 means 2 hearts 2 please
2 you 2 me 2 make totally
2 mouths 2 closed 2 make all of those
2 hearts 2 believe 2 love openly
Do you really wanna wait another day?
Coz everybody needs a little time to pay
And after when the time is up
Everybody doesnt always get their say
Feels like a little price to pay
Then after we laugh it up
Everything about us makes me grow
But how would you know?
Simple things bring simple pleasures
That we know
Baby its time to show
2 used 2 means 2 hearts 2 please
2 you's 2 me's 2 make totally
2 mouths 2 closed 2 make all of those
2 hearts 2 believe 2 love openly
Your the must have
Your the part im in your palm
Love freely so really
Theres a call
Where's it from?
Ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh
2 used 2 means 2 hearts 2 please
2 you's 2 me's 2 make totally
2 mouths 2 closed 2 make all of those
