Greater Kudu is arguably the most beautiful of Africa's antelopes. The Eastern Cape variety carry slightly smaller horns than the Southern Kudu found in the Limpopo region of Zimbabwe and South Africa, but, with its predominantly dark face, the Eastern Cape version tops the list for looks. Side by Side Safaris' Klipplaat ground holds a strong naturally occurring population of this coveted trophy. In this video several top class trophies are taken.

Police have rescued 18 children in a church in Nyanga Village near Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape. The children ages between three and 13 years rescued from the Mancoba Family Church. The church purports to be against all forms of civilisation prevent its members from working and their children from attending school. Earlier today the police obtained a court order to enter the premises and rescue the children.

Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Bhisho, but its two largest cities are Port Elizabeth and East London. It was formed in 1994 out of the Xhosa homelands of Transkei and Ciskei, together with the eastern portion of the Cape Province. Landing place and home of the 1820 settlers, the central and eastern part of the province is the traditional home of the Xhosa people. This region is the birthplace of many prominent South African politicians, such as Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Raymond Mhlaba, Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe, Chris Hani, Thabo Mbeki, Steve Biko, Bantu Holomisa and Charles Coghlan.
History
The Eastern Cape as a South African Province came into existence in 1994 and incorporated areas from the former Xhosa homelands of the Transkei and Ciskei, together with what was previously part of the Cape Province. This resulted in several anomalies including the fact that the Province has four supreme courts (in Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth, Bhisho and Mthatha) and enclaves of KwaZulu-Natal in the province. The latter anomaly has fallen away with amendments to municipal and provincial boundaries.The province is also made of Mpondo clan, which primitively descended from Xhosa clan. Some of the Mpondo clan went to this province when they were running away from King Shaka's war. Mpondo people are more closely related to Xhosa, as they use Xhosa as their main home language.

South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is the southernmost sovereign state in Africa. It is bounded on the south by 2,798 kilometers of coastline of southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho. South Africa is the 25th-largest country in the world by land area, and with close to 53 million people, is the world's 24th-most populous nation. It is the southernmost country on the mainland of the Old World or the Eastern Hemisphere.
South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11 official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world. Two of these languages are of European origin: Afrikaans developed from Dutch and serves as the first language of most white and coloured South Africans; English reflects the legacy of British colonialism, and is commonly used in public and commercial life, though it is fourth-ranked as a spoken first language.

East London
East London is a term referring to part of London, capital of the United Kingdom. The current official definition is that East London includes Barking and Dagenham, Bexley, Greenwich, Hackney, Havering, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest. East London should not be confused with the E postcode area, which is a coding for the postal services and is not intended to provide any official definition of East London or other areas of London.
The East End of London is a subset of East London, corresponding to areas closer to the ancient City.
Geography
Limits and extent
The East End is the old core of East London and there are differing views about how much of East London should be considered part of that core area.
By contrast the extent of East London as a whole can be confidently expressed: lying north of the Thames, stretching from the Roman and Medieval walls of the City to the Metropolitan Green Belt.
Aldgate Pump on the edge of the City is a symbolic start of East London – more specifically the East End. Tower Bridge is sometimes also described in these terms.

We made the most of the tough winter period, chasing clean seas, and managing to come right with some decent garrick and the odd yellowtail further up the east coast. Winter is typically a tough time for spearfishing in the Eastern Cape- with unpredictable conditions, cold seas (we braved 12 degree water on a few occasions), sharks, and a general lack of decent fish. It seems as though as the sardines migrate up the east coast, so do their predators, along with other fish, including cracker, pignose grunter, and various other species. Looking forward to the upcoming summer expeditions! -

We made the most of the tough winter period, chasing clean seas, and managing to come right with some decent garrick and the odd yellowtail further up the east coast. Winter is typically a tough time for spearfishing in the Eastern Cape- with unpredictable conditions, cold seas (we braved 12 degree water on a few occasions), sharks, and a general lack of decent fish. It seems as though as the sardines migrate up the east coast, so do their predators, along with other fish, including cracker, pignose grunter, and various other species.
Looking forward to the upcoming summer expeditions!

The Eastern Cape's main feature is its spectacular coastline, lapped by the temperate Indian Ocean. With long stretches of unspoilt sandy beaches, rocky coves, secluded lagoons and towering cliffs, the coast is the province's main tourist attraction.
Lying in Algoa Bay is Port Elizabeth, the largest city and an important harbour. The city, often shortened to PE and nicknamed "The Friendly City" or "The Windy City", stretches for 16 km along Algoa Bay, and is one of the major seaports in South Africa.
Port Elizabeth was founded as a town in 1820 to house British settlers as a way of strengthening the border region between the Cape Colony and the Xhosa. It now forms part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality which has a population of over 1.3 million.

These include the Campanile (bell tower), built in 1923 to commemorate the arrival of the 1820 Settlers and offering a great viewpoint over the city; the city hall (1862); the Donkin Reserve park and monument; and the old stone Fort Frederick itself (1799). The CBD also boasts the towering Eastern Cape post office headquarters.
Other attractions include the gardens at St George's Park, the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum (formerly known as the King George VI Art Gallery), the museum and oceanography room at Humewood, and the new Boardwalk waterfront complex.
The wider area surrounding PE also features a number of game viewing opportunities, including the famous Addo Elephant Park, 72 kilometres (45 mi) to the north near the Zuurberg mountain range and National Park.
Port Elizabeth is known commonly as the watersports capital of South Africa and home of Ironman Africa. Algoa bay is home to scuba diving, game fishing charters, surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding to name but a few. There are many cruises offered from the harbour from sunset cruises to view dolphins to whale watching tours.
Port Elizabeth is also a great destination for whale watching with humpback whales sighted between June and August, and again between November and January, Southern right whales sighted between July and November, and Bryde's whales sighted all year round. Boat-based whale watching trips are run out of the Port Elizabeth harbour where guests are allowed close encounters with these majestic creatures, among other marine animals.

We first visited Cape Town in 2015 as the final stop on a monthlong trip across South Africa. However, by the time we arrived, we only had a couple of days to spare and the weather was less than ideal, so we didn’t get to see very much.
We knew we had to return to do the city justice and also film a proper Cape Town travel guide for you guys. This time around, we gave ourselves a full week to spare.
Our days were packed with sightseeing, and with visits to restaurants, chocolate shops, wineries and gin distilleries, so without further delay, let us show you 30 things do in Cape Town, South Africa.

The eight thousand hectares of the Cape Of Good Hope Nature Reserve cover the southern section of the peninsula. Since 1998 it has been part of the Cape Peninsula National Park through which there are many scenic roads that lead to a variety of fascinating locations. Twenty five different species of protea thrive in the region’s pastureland along with a hundred and thirty nine plant species and fifty two varieties of orchid. The abundant array of floral splendour is indescribable and makes the Cape a veritable Garden Of Eden. Nature has no limits on the coastline of the Cape and each rock and cliff contains a myriad of colour, form and dimension. The rocks stand out like noble and protective guards, staring out into the endless horizons of the universe. Such beauty can be found nowhere else. During Europe’s winter months many of the world’s 830 bird species migrate to South Africa and it’s not unusual to come across a meadow that contains hundreds of eye-catching storks and anything from a pygmy shrew that weighs only a few ounces to the elephant that weighs several tons.20,000 varieties of plants, about 10% of all the plants in the world, grow in South Africa and of these, 8000 are to be found in the Cape region. Tsitsikamma is the country’s first National Marine Park, its 65,000 hectares including an 80-kilometre coastline. With 24,000 varieties of flowering plants, South Africa breaks all records. Many kinds of Cape flora have found their way to Europe, such as the geranium, lily and gladioli. The park contains an abundance of cacti of all shapes and sizes and an amazing 600 varieties of heather. Following the coastline is the narrow footpath of the Waterfall Trail, an impressive route that leaves an indelible impression. This section of the Cape region is considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. For some time, Tolkien lived in Knysna and while visiting this region was inspired to write his world famous novel, The Lord of the Rings. The ancient forests captivate far less poetically ambitious people than Tolkien as each visitor becomes totally immersed in this green fairytale world and soon nurtures a special respect for it. South Africa is renowned for its wines and is one of the world's largest producers of gold. South Africa has the strongest economy in Africa, and is an influential player in African politics. In 2010, South Africa hosted the first Football World Cup to be held on the African continent.
If you want to travel in southern Africa then South Africa is a good place to start. While you can fly into any country in southern Africa, most flights will route through South Africa anyway. South Africa is also a good place to get used to travelling in the region (though some would argue that Namibia is better for that). Of course South Africa is not only a jumping off point, it is itself a superb destination rich in culture, fauna & flora and history.
Outsiders' views of South Africa are coloured by the same stereotypes as the rest of Africa. Contrary to popular belief, South Africa is not devastatingly poor with an unstable government. South Africa is to a large extent two countries within one . On the one hand it is a first world state, especially the major cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg, and on the other hand it is under-developed and has large scale poverty. South Africa is one of the most unequal countries in the world where opulence and severe poverty can often be observed together. The rural part of South Africa remains among the poorest and the least developed parts of the world and poverty in the townships can be appalling, progress is being made. The process of recovering from apartheid, which lasted almost 46 years, is quite slow. In fact, South Africa's United Nations Human Development Index which was slowly improving in the final years of apartheid, has declined dramatically since 1996, largely due to the AIDS pandemic, and poverty levels appear to be on the increase. South Africa boasts a well-developed infrastructure and has all the modern amenities and technologies, much of it developed during the years of white minority rule. Lately, white farm owners have come under attack by mobs of blacks after they were disarmed by the government. A wave of violent crime against any whites has engulfed the country and caution is recommended.

The Eastern Cape is the poorest of the nine provinces. However, its poverty headcount, those living below the poverty line, has decreased from 14, 4% in 2011 to 12.7% in 2016. The Nelson Mandela Bay and Sarah Baartman regions has the lowest poverty headcounts. The the small town of Rietbron in the Sarah Baartman region is one of the poorest towns. Greater Kudu is arguably the most beautiful of Africa's antelopes. The Eastern Cape variety carry slightly smaller horns than the Southern Kudu found in the Limpopo region of Zimbabwe and South Africa, but, with its predominantly dark face, the Eastern Cape version tops the list for looks. Police have rescued 18 children in a church in Nyanga Village near Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape. The children ages between three and 13 years rescued from the Mancoba Family Church. The church purports to be against all forms of civilisation prevent its members from working and their children from attending school. Spearfishing the Eastern Cape: Winter 2016
We made the most of the tough winter period, chasing clean seas, and managing to come right with some decent garrick and the odd yellowtail further up the east coast. Winter is typically a tough time for spearfishing in the Eastern Cape- with unpredictable conditions, cold seas (we braved 12 degree water on a few occasions), sharks, and a general lack of decent fish. It seems as though as the sardines migrate up the east coast, so do their predators, along with other fish, including cracker, pignose grunter, and various other species. Looking forward to the upcoming summer expeditions!
