The NSW Healthy Eating and Active Living Strategy 2013-2018 provides a whole of government framework to promote and support healthy eating and active living in NSW and to reduce the impact of lifestyle-related chronic disease.

The Strategy aims to encourage and support the community to make healthy lifestyle changes at a personal level, and create an environment that supports healthier living through better planning, built environments and transport solutions. The Strategy aims to ensure that everyone has opportunities to be healthy through the delivery of evidence-based programs and policy initiatives.

The NSW Healthy Eating and Active Living Strategy 2013-2018 has four key strategic directions:

  • Environments to support healthy eating and active living
  • State-wide healthy eating and active living support programs
  • Healthy eating and active living advice as part of routine service delivery
  • Education and information to enable informed, healthy choices

The Strategy will assist the NSW Government to co-ordinate and manage the implementation of policies and programs across a range of government agencies and health services and to work in partnership with the academic and non-government sectors to promote healthy eating and physical activity.
