Drukqs (stylised as drukQs) is a double album by English electronic musician Richard D. James, released under his most frequently used pseudonym, Aphex Twin. It is his fifth studio album under this alias. The album peaked at number 22 on the UK Albums Chart, selling 11,476 copies in its first week of release.
James has stated that the title is not related to drugs, and is "just a word [he] made up."
Initial critical response to drukQs was positive, though not as much as his previous albums under the Aphex Twin name. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 66, based on 21 reviews.
All songs composed by Richard D. James.
"Avril 14th" was sampled in the digital short "Iran So Far" on a Saturday Night Live episode that aired on 2007-09-29. There were complications of this—NBC didn't get the rights to use the song. However, rights were eventually garnered by Chrysalis Music, Aphex Twin’s publishing company, for television and DVD usage, but The Lonely Island was not allowed to include the track on its album Incredibad
Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known by his alias Aphex Twin, is an English electronic musician and composer based in London. He is best known for his influential and idiosyncratic work in electronic music styles such as IDM and ambient techno in the 1990s, for which he won widespread critical acclaim. He is also the co-founder of Rephlex Records with Grant Wilson-Claridge.
Initially releasing acid and techno records as AFX and under other aliases, James's first received widespread acclaim for his 1992 album Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and his subsequent 1993 release Selected Ambient Works Volume II. He rose to mainstream popularity with his 1997 EP, Come To Daddy and his 1999 single "Windowlicker". Taking a 14-year hiatus following the release of his 2001 album Drukqs to mixed reviews, James returned in 2014 with a new album, Syro, earning him critical praise and a win for Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
James was born in Limerick, Ireland, but he grew up in Lanner, Cornwall, UK, with two older sisters, in a "very happy" childhood during which they "were pretty much left to do what [they] wanted". He enjoyed living there, feeling apart from nearby cities and the rest of the world. James attended Redruth School in Redruth, Cornwall, and claimed to have produced sound on a Sinclair ZX81 (a machine with no sound hardware) at age 11:
Avril means April in French and other languages. It may also refer to:
14 (fourteen /fɔərˈtiːn/) is the natural number following 13 and preceding 15.
In speech, the numbers 14 and 40 are often confused. When carefully enunciated, they differ in which syllable is stressed: 14 i/fɔərˈtiːn/ vs 40 /ˈfɔːrti/. In relation to the word "four" (4), 14 is spelled "fourteen".
Fourteen is a composite number, its divisors being 1, 2, 7 and 14.
14 is the 3rd discrete semiprime (2 × 7) and the 3rd member of the (2·q) discrete semiprime family. The number following 14—15—is itself a discrete semiprime and this is the first such pair of discrete semiprimes. The next example is the pair commencing 21.
The aliquot sum σ(n) of 14 is 10, also a discrete semiprime and this is again the first example of a discrete semiprime having an aliquot sum in the same form. 14 has an aliquot sequence of 6 members (14,10,8,7,1,0) 14 is the third composite number in the 7-aliquot tree.
Fourteen is itself the aliquot sum of two numbers; the discrete semiprime 22, and the square number 169.
Twins are two offspring produced by the same pregnancy. Twins can either be monozygotic ("identical"), meaning that they can develop from just one zygote that will then split and form two embryos, or dizygotic ("fraternal"), meaning that they can develop from two different eggs; each are fertilized by separate sperm cells.
In contrast, a fetus which develops alone in the womb is called a singleton, and the general term for one offspring of a multiple birth is multiple.
The twin birth rate in the United States rose 76% from 1980 through 2009, from 18.9 to 33.3 per 1,000 births. The Yoruba have the highest rate of twinning in the world, at 45–50 twin sets (or 90–100 twins) per 1,000 live births, possibly because of high consumption of a specific type of yam containing a natural phytoestrogen which may stimulate the ovaries to release an egg from each side.
In Central Africa there are 18–30 twin sets (or 36–60 twins) per 1,000 live births. In Latin America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia, the lowest rates are found; only 6 to 9 twin sets per 1,000 live births. North America and Europe have intermediate rates of 9 to 16 twin sets per 1,000 live births.

I am a pianist based in Melbourne, Australia. Mailing list: http://joshcohenmusic.com/pianocovers
Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/Trailaiday Hi there, this is my piano cover of Avril 14th by Aphex Twin (Richard D. James), transcribed for piano solo by R. P. Taylor and Megan L. Nell. It's from the album Drukqs. This piece wasn't really my choice, it's more like part of a deal! So Jana if you see this, you owe me a self drawn/painted (your choice) picture :). Though I really like quite a few Aphex Twin songs, I didn't know this one. The more I played it, the more it grew on me. It has this peaceful, calm, warm, simple feeling to it that just makes you forget the rest of the world for two minutes. So I really like it now! Hope you do so too ;)
How to play Avril 14th by Aphex Twin Beautiful track featured in Marie Antoinette and sampled by Kanye West - Blame Game This is an improved version of Avril 14th piano lesson. I was annoyed with the Tutorials already out there due to being low quality or not being well set up for learning (not enough notes visible or no left and right hand differences). This one has more notes in view at a time so you don't need to skip as much in the difficult parts. Left and right hand are distinguished to prevent confusion. I recorded the video at half speed and then sped it up to eliminate the jerkiness that Synthesia videos have. I recorded the piano separately in LogicX with a better sound than the MIDI you get from the Synthesia program. Figured as I spend so much time watching this damn vide...
