Nathaniel Richmond, father of Steubenville rapist Ma'Lik Richmond, was killed after he 'ambushed' Jefferson County Judge Joseph Bruzzese Jr, 65, in Ohio on Monday morning. Richmond fired at the judge several times before he was shot dead by a probation officer. Richmond's son Ma'Lik was convicted in 2013 of raping a 16-year-old girl and the young man was recently told he couldn't play football for Youngstown State University this season. Bruzzese didn't preside over Ma'Lik's rape case and investigators are still looking for a motive for the shooting.

Police believe Robert Mangan, 39, (right) killed his four-year-old daughter Catherine (left) and his five-year-old son Joseph (center) before killing himself in their Little Rock, Arkansas, home (inset). Their bodies were discovered Sunday by Mangan's wife Lindsay. All three were lying dead in the same bed in the house. A cause of death wasn't immediately released, but police said they were no obvious signs of trauma on the children. All three bodies were taken to the medical examiner's office for autopsies to determine causes of death, a police statement said. Investigators interviewed Lindsay and another person who lives in the residence with the family. Lindsay told officers she and Mangan were recently separated and were having trouble. Police are investigating the incident as a double homicide and suicide and the investigation is ongoing. Arrest records show Mangan had been arrested three times since May of last year, most recently on August 5 for domestic battery in the third degree (mug shot right).

President Donald Trump was joined on the terrace by wife Melania, his children Barron and Ivanka, and cabinet members including Jeff Sessions, for the once-in-a-lifetime event. At one point he even risked blindness by peeking at the sun without eclipse viewer glasses before an aide instructed him to put them on. Darkness swept across the US on Monday as the eclipse traveled from coast to coast, ending just before 3pm EDT in South Carolina. The celestial event began in Oregon at just after 9am PDT, and by 10.20am, the sun was completely blocked out except for a halo-like solar corona plunging the area into twilight. Over the next 90 minutes, the total eclipse traveled through 14 different states until ending in South Carolina. The other 36 states were all treated to a partial solar eclipse, where the moon covers only a part of the sun.

At the Nashville Zoo, many of the animals went wild during the eclipse Monday, though some zookeepers aren't sure if they were agitated by the thousands of people who came to the zoo to watch. Almost 7,000 people went to the Nashville Zoo (inset) to watch the eclipse and observe the animals' reactions. Two young giraffes raced in circles (left) and the rhinos tried to run after they went to their pens when it got dark. In the flamingo lagoon, the pink birds huddled together (right). However, zookeepers said it wasn't clear if the animals were reacting to the eclipse or to the loud noise of the thousands of people who came to watch. When the sun was totally blotted out the humans drowned out the animals with clapping, 'oohing' and 'aahing' for more than the nearly two minutes the total eclipse lasted. However, the primates and wild cats did not appear agitated at all.

Millions of Americans across the country watched the solar eclipse on Monday. While many people were moved by the cosmic spectacle, others were underwhelmed by the event. It was the first full-blown, coast-to-coast solar eclipse since World War I, the first eclipse of the social media era to pass through a heavily populated area. People across the country watched the display on television and in person, gathering in stadiums, parks and backyards to stare at the sky and take pictures. Across the country, people oohed, ahhed, whooped and shouted as the sky darkened for about two minutes at any one place. While many were moved by the phenomenon, others were somewhat disappointed and posted their 'underwhelming' eclipse photos to social media. Some viewers were let down by the cloud cover and others just weren't impressed by the spectacle.

Jessica Caoila revealed in an interview with Oxygen for its new series 'The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway' that she was with Holloway on the group's final night of the trip, and that the two girls even left local bar Carlos'n Charlie's together in hopes of catching a shuttle back to the hotel. Bieber, 23, has long been close with Mayweather, 40. The US Navy has ordered an investigation into the performance of the Pacific-based 7th Fleet after a collision involving the USS John S. McCain and an oil tanker near Singapore on Monday left 10 American sailors missing. It was the second major collision in the last two months involving the Navy's 7th Fleet. Seven sailors died in June when the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship collided in waters off Japan. Navy Adm. John Richardson, the chief of naval operations, will call for a pause in operations and seek a deeper look at how the Navy trains and certifies its forces that are operating around Japan, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Monday.

Christopher Barker, the 'imperial wizard' of the Loyal White Knights branch in North Carolina, had agreed to be interviewed by a 'woman of color' for the TV network. But Barker appeared shocked when Ilia Calderón, a black Colombian news anchor, stepped out the car to meet him. And he became increasingly aggressive during the interview, in which he was accompanied by his wife Amanda, threatening to 'burn' Calderon and informing her she was the first black person to step foot on his property in decades. He also called her a n****r and told her to go back to her country.

Now back at the helm of Breitbart News, President Trump's ex-Chief Strategist Steve Bannon has said he's 'going to war' with his West Wing enemies, including 'Javanka,' his preferred portmanteau for Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. New reporting from Vanity Fair indicates Bannon is primed to move his Breitbart brand into the television space, having conversed with GOP super donor Robert Mercer, about funding a network to the right of Fox, while also communicating with Sinclair's chief political analyst Boris Epshteyn, a Trump campaign alum, about creating a Sinclair-Breitbart alliance.

A former TV producer for This Morning, Amy May Shead, 29, left, before her incident, was left in a coma, brain-damaged and wheelchair-bound after eating just one bite of a dish she ordered in a restaurant and suffered a near-fatal anaphylactic reaction. This was despite Amy informing the manager and the chef she had a nut allergy beforehand and was reassured it would be fine. Two doses of her EpiPen failed to contain the reaction and emergency services were called, but Amy, who was comforted by host Ruth Langsford during her appearance on the daytime show on Monday, right, had been starved of oxygen for nearly six minutes and was left in a coma, inset. Doctors initially told her parents Roger and Sue Shead, pictured right with her daughter and Ruth, she would not survive. Presenters Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth now want to see nuts banned on flights after a recent report about a young boy who suffered a severe reaction after several bags of the food were opened near him.

James Joseph Dresnok was among just a handful of American servicemen to desert following the 1950-53 Korean War, crossing the heavily fortified Demilitarised Zone in 1962. Dresnock, left died last November. Dresnock's sons James inset left, and Ted, inset right, confirmed their father's death. Their father married Romanian woman Doina Bumbea who had been abducted by North Korean agents and smuggled into the hermit state specifically for the purpose of keeping Dresnok happy.

Jojo, a long-tailed macaque, and Alan, a stray cat (both pictured), have become best friends, sharing food and grooming each other at the shelter where they live in Phetchaburi, Thailand. Although animal shelters usually keep animals with their own species, workers at Jojo and Alan's shelter say the unlikely pair hasn't exhibited any dangerous behavior and seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company.

Japanese Kitty Chibikuro (pictured) was caught with a piece of stolen fried fish by his owner Kuni-Chan and. instead of giving up the contraband, the kitty, who is often caught trying to steal human food, wrapped both his arms around it and refused to let go. Kuni-Chan alerted his wife and daughter who then recorded a video of the hilarious moment that has gone viral.
