Stephen Arthur Stills (born January 3, 1945) is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
Beginning his professional career with Buffalo Springfield, he composed their only hit "For What It's Worth," which became one of the most recognizable songs of the decade. Other notable songs he contributed to the band were "Sit Down, I Think I Love You," "Bluebird" and "Rock & Roll Woman." According to Richie Furay, he was "the heart and soul of Buffalo Springfield."
After Buffalo Springfield broke up, Stills began working with David Crosby and Graham Nash on their debut album. Stills, in addition to writing much of the album, played bass, guitar, and keyboards on most of the album. The album sold over four million copies and at that point, had outsold anything from the three members' prior bands: The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies. The album won the trio a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Glenn Frey stated, "CSN hung the moon. They were like the Beatles for about two years."
The Stills were a Canadian rock band from Montreal, Quebec, formed in 2000, and disbanded in 2011.
The band members had known each other since the age of 12 and played in various bands prior to forming The Stills.
Their EP, Rememberese, was released on June 17, 2003. Their debut album, Logic Will Break Your Heart, was released later that year. Their second album, Without Feathers, was released May 9, 2006 on Vice Records. They supported Kings of Leon on their UK spring tour in 2007.
They signed with Arts & Crafts for the release of their third album, Oceans Will Rise, which was released August 19, 2008.
On July 20, 2008 they played in Quebec City, opening for Paul McCartney, for the city's 400th anniversary. On February 7, 2009, they played at Nathan Phillips Square as part of Toronto's WinterCity Festival. They supported the Kings of Leon on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in March 2009.
On March 28, 2009, they were awarded 2 Juno Awards (Canada's music awards), in the categories for Best New Group of The Year, and Best Alternative Album of the Year for their album Oceans Will Rise.
Stephen or Steven /ˈstiːvən/ is a masculine first name, derived from the Greek name Στέφανος (Stéfanos), in turn from the Greek word "στέφανος", meaning "wreath, crown, honour, reward", literally "that which surrounds or encompasses". In ancient Greece, a wreath was given to the winner of a contest (from which the crown, symbol of rulers derived). The use of the noun was first recorded in Homer's Iliad. The name is significant to Christians: according to the Book of Acts in the New Testament, Saint Stephen was a deacon who was stoned to death and is regarded as the first Christian martyr. The name has many variants, which include Stephan, Stevan, Stefan and Stevon.
In Middle English, the name Stephen or Stephan was pronounced as a bi-syllabic word — Step-hen or Step-han — much like a Scandinavian surname. Steve was pronounced as it is in Modern English. This etymological usage began a decline in the mid-19th century.
Steve is the common short form, while various diminutives such as Stevie and Ste are also used. Many family names are derived from Stephen: the most common are Stephens/Stevens and Stephenson/Stevenson (others include Stephen, Stephan, Staphan, Stefan, Stevin and Stever).
"Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" is a suite of short songs written by Stephen Stills and performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN). It appeared on the group's self-titled debut album in 1969 and was released as a single, hitting #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. The song is ranked #418 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The title is a play on words for "Sweet Judy Blue Eyes". The song is a suite in the classical sense (i.e., an ordered set of musical pieces).
The recording features an acoustic guitar tuned to EEEEBE ("Bruce Palmer Modal Tuning") vs. the standard EADGBE tuning. This style of tuning would later be used for the Déjà Vu songs "4+20" and "Carry On".
CSN performed "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" at the Woodstock and Live Aid festivals, and their performance at the former is featured in the film Woodstock (1970).
The title "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" refers to Stephen Stills' former girlfriend, singer/songwriter Judy Collins, and the lyrics to most of the suite's sections consist of his thoughts about her and their imminent breakup. Collins is known for her piercing blue eyes, which are referenced in the title. During a July 15, 2007 interview for the National Public Radio program Just Roll Tape, Stills revealed that Collins was present in the studio when the demo tapes were recorded. Collins had advised Stills "not to stay [at the studio] all night." Stills later commented that "the breakup was imminent...we were both too large for one house." Stills said that he liked parts of this demo version of "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" better than the released version.
Eye color or eye colour is a polygenic phenotypic character determined by two distinct factors: the pigmentation of the eye's iris and the frequency-dependence of the scattering of light by the turbid medium in the stroma of the iris.
In humans, the pigmentation of the iris varies from light brown to black, depending on the concentration of melanin in the iris pigment epithelium (located on the back of the iris), the melanin content within the iris stroma (located at the front of the iris), and the cellular density of the stroma. The appearance of blue and green, as well as hazel eyes, results from the Tyndall scattering of light in the stroma, a phenomenon similar to that which accounts for the blueness of the sky called Rayleigh scattering. Neither blue nor green pigments are ever present in the human iris or ocular fluid. Eye color is thus an instance of structural color and varies depending on the lighting conditions, especially for lighter-colored eyes.
The brightly colored eyes of many bird species result from the presence of other pigments, such as pteridines, purines, and carotenoids. Humans and other animals have many phenotypic variations in eye color. The genetics of eye color are complicated, and color is determined by multiple genes. So far, as many as 15 genes have been associated with eye color inheritance. Some of the eye-color genes include OCA2 and HERC2. The earlier belief that blue eye color is a simple recessive trait has been shown to be incorrect. The genetics of eye color are so complex that almost any parent-child combination of eye colors can occur. However, OCA2 gene polymorphism, close to proximal 5′ regulatory region, explains most human eye-color variation.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young http://miribilla.org/video-clip/ingles/crosby-stills-nash-young/index.html Crosby, Stills & Nash's The Acoustic Concert is mastered with a loud and full sound. Videotaped at a 1991 show in San Francisco that was done as a memorial to the group's friend, Bill Graham, there is more here than meets the eye -- indeed, what initially meets the eye is most unpromising, the decidedly overweight presence of David Crosby and Stephen Stills (evidently Graham Nash's metabolism won't let him gain weight). But as it turns out the group vocal prowess is still very much intact, because they harmonize magnificently (far better, in fact, than they generally did at Woodstock), and despite its being credited as The Acoustic Concert, that doesn't stop Stills from picking up an e...

0:00 How Have You Been - Winterland - 1969 November 13, 1969 This is the only known performance of one of the rarest released CSN songs. It's a solo performance by Stills. According to the Euro authors book, Crosby strained his voice at a rally that day and they had to make some quick setlist changes. 3:54 Bluebird - Fillmore East - 1970 June 3, 1970 Dylan was in the audience and Stills had been drinking and was showing off for Bob. According to Zimmer's CSN biography, Stills went out to do one acoustic song and he did four. It pissed off a certain Englishman. As the applause dies on Bluebird, Stills says, "I haven't done that ever that way in front of people." Here is your home, and all of your friends
Your dreams, your whole life
Stretched to its end
To never be sullen, never be sad
Powder of rust in the palm of your hand
I'm bringing up the past
To put it all to rest
Spirits taking off through the holes in my chest
A statue of sirens sinks at high tide
Singing all admissions for me now
And all this because
I lost my mind when it mattered the most
And all this becomes
A weight in your heart that you carry alone
Everybody's taken on a mission of faith
Crumbling earth that you carry away
Messages relayed between the heart and the brain
Quietly, all leaving from me now
And all this because
I lost my mind when it mattered the most
And all this becomes
A weight in your chest that you carry alone
And all this becomes
