Free music

Free music or libre music is music that, like free software, can freely be copied, distributed and modified for any purpose. Thus free music is either in the public domain or licensed under a free license by the artist or copyright holder themselves, often as a method of promotion. It does not mean that there should be no fee involved. The word free refers to freedom (as in free software), not to price.

The Free Music Philosophy generally encourages creators to free music using whatever language or methods they wish. A Free Music Public License (FMPL) is available for those who prefer a formal approach. Some free music is licensed under licenses that are intended for software (like the GPL) or other writings (the GFDL). But there are also licenses especially for music and other works of art, such as EFF's Open Audio License, LinuxTag's Open Music License, the Free Art license and some of the Creative Commons Licences.

History

Before the advent of copyright law in the early 18th century and its subsequent application to music compositions first, all music was "free" according to the definitions used in free software or free music, since there were no copyright restrictions. In practice however, music reproduction was generally restricted to live performances and the legalities of playing other people's music was unclear in most jurisdictions. Copyright laws changed this gradually so much so that in the late 20th century, copying a few words of a musical composition or a few seconds of a sound recording, the two forms of music copyright, could be considered criminal infringement.

Even Though

Even though is a song by British trip hop band Morcheeba. The track was the first single from Blood Like Lemonade, the seventh studio album released on 7 June 2010.

Song background

The track marked Skye Edwards return since her dismissal in 2003. The lyrics were inspired by reading interviews with astronauts. The message conveyed in the song reflects the worries about humanity and the actual state of the Earth.

Music video

The official music video for Even though is directed by Ian “Emma” Bonhote. Underwater shooting made for absolute matching with the song narrative. Since its premiere, the video has racked more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Melody Hill, Indiana

Melody Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, United States. The population was 3,066 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Melody Hill is located at 38°1′31″N 87°30′57″W / 38.02528°N 87.51583°W / 38.02528; -87.51583 (38.025242, -87.515813).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.4 square miles (3.6 km²), of which 1.4 square miles (3.6 km²) is land and 0.73% is water. The Census Bureau-created CDP of "Melody Hill" consists of the residential areas south of the Evansville Regional Airport, north of Lynch Road, west of Green River Road, and east of the industrial area that includes Whirlpool (the industrial plants are not included as they are in the Evansville city limits.). Melody Hill includes older subdivisions such as Melody Hills, Cloverlawn Estates, Ridgeview Estates, and the Bergdolt Rd. area, as well as several newer subdivisions. Residents may see their area referred to as "Melody Hill" on certain maps and weather channels as if it were an actual town.

Michael Apted

Michael David Apted, CMG (born 10 February 1941) is an English director, producer, writer and actor. He is one of the most prolific British film directors of his generation, and directed the Up Series (1964–2012) of documentaries and the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough (1999).

On 29 June 2003 he was elected president of the Directors Guild of America. He returned to television, directing the first three episodes of the TV series Rome (2005). Apted directed Amazing Grace which premiered at the closing of the Toronto Film Festival in 2006. His most recent feature film project was The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader which premiered 30 November 2010 at the Royal Film Performance. He was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG) in the 2008 Birthday Honours.

Early life

Apted was born to a middle-class family in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, the son of Frances Amelia (née Thomas) and Ronald William Apted, who worked for an insurance company. Michael Apted secured a scholarship to attend City of London School and then to study law and history at Downing College, Cambridge.

Blackball (pool)

Blackball (sometimes written black ball or black-ball) is a pool (pocket billiards) game that is popular in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Malta, South Africa, Australia, and some other countries. In the UK and Ireland it is usually called simply "pool". The game is played with sixteen balls (a cue ball and fifteen usually unnumbered object balls) on a small (6 ft x 3 ft or 7 ft x 4 ft) pool table with six pockets.

Blackball is an internationally standardised variation of the popular bar and club game eight-ball pool (a.k.a. 8-ball pool or eightball pool), closely related to the originally American and now professionally internationalised game eight-ball. The two main sets of playing rules are those of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA, the International Olympic Committee-recognised governing body of pool) and its affiliate the European Blackball Association (EBA), known as "blackball rules", and the older code of the World Eightball Pool Federation (WEPF), often referred to as "world rules".
