GREEN FOREST — The Green Forest Tigers are stepping outside of Arkansas for Friday night’s football game.

At Tiger Stadium in Green Forest, the home team will be facing Pierce City, Mo. in a 7 p.m. kick off.

“Pierce City has a very good football team,” said Green Forest coach Bobby Bishop. “They are 3-0 and have run up some big scores on their opponents.”

The Tigers gave up 27 points last week with 14 of that coming in the last period. Green Forest will have to be ready for anything in the game.

“They use a Wishbone, split backs with a little Spread mixed in,” said Bishop.

Pierce City uses an even front 4-4 defense.

“They are playing good sound defense,” said the coach. “They are not giving up the big plays.”

After facing a bigger Huntsville team and playing well for three quarters, the Tigers are looking to continue the improvement.

“We are,” said Bishop about being proud of the early Tiger play. “But, we are not definitely satisfied. We understand we have a lot of work to do.”

Pierce City is not the only challenge that Green Forest is facing this week. The struggle to keep starting positions is also being felt by the Tigers on the practice field.

“There could be some,” said Bishop when asked if there would be some new starters this week. “Some of the kids who got a late start are starting to push for playing time.”
