Cement is a 2000 crime drama-thriller film directed by Adrian Pasdar and written by Justin Monjo. The film was shot in Los Angeles, California, USA, and was Pasdar's first film as director.
Los Angeles vice detectives Bill Holt (Chris Penn) and Nin (Jeffrey Wright) have entered the gangster and drug scenes and have allied with drug kingpin Truman Rickhardt (Henry Czerny). As he tries to stop Holt, Nin narrates the events that led Holt to torture Truman’s brother Sean (Anthony DeSando) by chaining him inside an iron box that's slowly filling with cement. Cops on the take, missing money, Holt's tempting wife Lyndel (Sherilyn Fenn), dead police officers are implicated in the events.
"Cement" was the second single from British rock band Feeder's critically acclaimed 1997 album Polythene. It was their first radio single in the USA during 1998.
Amongst the singles b-sides, are re-recordings of the two tracks from their debut release "Two Colours", while "Rush" was at first a studio demo before the released version is a "live" take, which was recorded in a studio with the crowd effects added afterwards. It was originally recorded for a compilation called Home Truths. This was also their first coloured vinyl release. The song refers to a situation of Grant seeing a girl he has feelings for, but feels she will not be interested.
In addition to reaching #53 on the UK Singles Chart, it also charted at #31 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.
The music video for Cement was directed by Jon Klien and is set almost entirely in a grimy, dimly-lit bedroom set with windows similar to those seen in the Death Star in the Star Wars films. It flashes between band performance and frontman Grant Nicholas indulging in various unhinged, obsessive activities relating to his love interest in the video which loosely relate to the song's lyrics. This includes spying on the girl with a camera as she walks down the street and constructing a model of her, which (in his mind at least) comes to life, and hand-peeling the shell off an egg.

It charted most successfully in Canada, where it reached No. 1, topping the RPM national singles chart on 19 July 1975, and received a gold certification. It climbed as far as #11 on the UK Singles Chart and reached No. 5 during the summer of 1975 in the United States on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song was used in the films Happy Gilmore, Herbie: Fully Loaded, The Magic Roundabout, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and Eve and the Fire Horse as well as the trailer for Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. The song was used in a scene cut from Guardians of the Galaxy; the scene is included on the home media release of the film. Manchester United supporters sing a different version of the song regarding Michael Carrick. The lyrics are as follows: 'Its hard to believe its not Scholes. Its Carrick you know.'
PoweredUSB, also known as Retail USB, USB PlusPower, and USB +Power, is an addition to the Universal Serial Bus standard that allows for higher-power devices to obtain power through their USB host instead of requiring an independent power supply or external AC adapter. It is mostly used in point-of-sale equipment, such as receipt printers and barcode readers.
PoweredUSB, as a proprietary variant of USB, was developed and proposed by IBM, Berg (now FCI), NCR and Microsoft between 1998 and 1999, with the last revision (0.8g) issued in 2004. The specification is not endorsed by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). IBM, who owns patents to PoweredUSB, charges a licensing fee for its use.
PoweredUSB was licensed by Hewlett-Packard, Cyberdata, Fujitsu, Wincor and others.
PoweredUSB uses a more complex connector than standard USB, maintaining the standard USB 1.x/2.0 interface for data communications and adding a second connector for power. Physically, it is essentially two connectors stacked such that the bottom connector accepts a standard USB plug and the top connector takes a power plug.
Himachal Pradesh is extremely rich in its hydroelectricity resources. The state is having about twenty five percent of the national potential in this aspect. It has been estimated that about 27,436 MW of hydel power can be generated in the state by the construction of various hydel projects on the five perennial river basins no matter they are major, medium or small. Out of total hydel potential of the state, 3934.74MW is harnessed so far, out of which only 7.6% is under the control of Himachal Pradesh Government while the rest being exploited by the Central Government. The state government has been giving the highest priority for its development, since hydel generation can meet the growing need of power for industry, agriculture and rural electrification. It is also the biggest source of income to the state as it provides electricity to the other states also.
Himachal has enough resources to generate surplus power but, sometimes this is a misconception as in winters the power shortage overshoots ten lakh units per day due to less flow of water in rivers and at the same time increase in lighting and heating load. Due to increased industrialization and rural electrification this figure is expected to rise even further.
And then I remembered the magic,
Forgot that you can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
I just get stressed when I try to understand it.
And I remember the magic,
Forgot that you can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
It's always there, you can't try to understand it.
Now, I don't know why this world is a trip
See, I just float by hoping that I can live.
With a pen I'm so high, using this medicine
I got a little bit of it to give
Come on hear me now.
My momma says the trip inside of you gon' hear it child.
We all got it, if you want it gotta get it out.
I know you know what I'm talking about
See it's the music from the magic, got me on top of these clouds, come on
Keep it poppin' with my favorite song
There's no feeling like the city walking with my walkman on
It gets to me, giving me goosebumps and I'm gone,
And when I die just make sure that I got my pen and headphones on.
In good times and upsets,
Rain, hail, beats, sand, heat, land, and a lot of damn sunsets.
They say that you can never capture the moment
Photograph or record it, but I swear I can when I bump them.
As I bear witness to existence setting in the distance
For a sheer instance I become one with it
Dismeant up to ten when I listen like I was set on this mission
Places I've been when I with them
I'm feeling the most high when I got my pen snd I'm scriptin'
No engines speakin as I enter religion.
No crosses, pews, prayers, or repentance for sinning
Just the RCA jack, a sentence and a vision.
Inside of the gut, time with the cut, right from the plug
That feeling that goes right into us.
Instead of bump live, but with eyes wide
Church you got some fire and a lighter on my fire and uh
Depending on the month, sometimes I feel high with just pen and pad
If the gab, the light's within us.
I can apply my touch on the mic stand and bust
To the whole planet, and my headphones on
And to the magic
Forgot that you can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
I just get stressed when I try to understand it
And I remember the magic,
Forgot that you can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
It's always there, you can't try to understand it.
(Speaking)
Have you ever done hallucinogenics?
Children don't get it twisted, I'm not reccomending.
(Rapping)
But it's not fried brains and hippies and kids jumpin' off buildings
It can be spiritual epiphanies and medicine.
Now I first tried shrooms when I was 16,
And the universe became more interesting.
I began to contemplate my place in this landscape
And reflect on what it meant to be a human being.
What I went through felt as though I dreamt it.
Through my experience, became aware of my breath, then
Began to cultivate my art with the intention of the heart,
Started to use my sentences as reflections.
And what I saw was God was in all of us and we all come to be interconnected.
And all that was depended on all of us
And had effects like a domino when you let it.
Go with the flow, that the universe holds.
Understand that there's more than you expected.
I don't do shrooms anymore 'cause I don't need to explore.
All that I was looking for was was the present.
And I remember the magic,
Forgot that you can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
I just get stressed when I try to understand it.
And I remember the magic,
Forgot that I can't plan it.
It's always there in front of us
Just trust and it happens.
And the star dust from the universe of this planet
