Peter Hanly (born 28 November 1964) is an Irish actor best known for his performances in Braveheart as Edward, Prince of Wales, and as Garda Ambrose Egan in the BBC TV series Ballykissangel.
Hanly began his acting career about the time he began playing Young Oliver in Da. Hanly's repertoire encompasses plays, television performances, as well as movies.
In 2007, he played Major Sparks in My Boy Jack.
Hanly continues to work as an actor in Dublin, where he lives with his wife Jennifer O'Dea and their two children.
Mel Colm-Cille Gerard Gibson AO (born January 3, 1956) is an American actor and filmmaker (screenwriter, producer and director). He is most well known as an action hero, for roles such as Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon buddy cop film series and Max Rockatansky in the first three films in the Mad Max post-apocalyptic action series.
He was born in Peekskill, New York, and moved with his parents to Sydney when he was 12 years old. He studied acting at the Australian National Institute of Dramatic Art. During the 1980s, Gibson founded Icon Entertainment, a production company which independent film director Atom Egoyan has called, "an alternative to the studio system." Director Peter Weir cast Gibson as one of the leads in the critically acclaimed World War I drama Gallipoli (1981), which earned Gibson a Best Actor Award from the Australian Film Institute. The film also helped to earn Gibson the reputation of a serious, versatile actor.
In 1995, Gibson produced, directed, and starred in the epic historical drama film Braveheart, for which he won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Director, along with the Academy Award for Best Picture. In 2004, he directed and produced the financially successful, but controversial, biblical drama film The Passion of the Christ. Gibson received further critical notice for his directorial work of the 2006 action-adventure film Apocalypto, which is set in Mesoamerica during the early 16th century.
Brendan Gleeson (born 29 March 1955) is an Irish actor. His best-known performances include supporting roles in films such as Braveheart, Gangs of New York, 28 Days Later, Troy, and the Harry Potter films and leading roles in films such as In Bruges, The Guard, and Calvary. He won an Emmy Award in 2009 for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the film Into the Storm. He is also the father of Domnhall Gleeson.
Gleeson was born in Dublin, the son of Pat and Frank Gleeson. Gleeson has described himself as having been an avid reader as a child. He received his second level education at St. Joseph's CBS in Fairview, Dublin where he was a member of the school drama group. After training as an actor, he worked for several years as a secondary school teacher of Irish and English at the now defunct Catholic Belcamp College in North County Dublin, which closed in 2004. He was working simultaneously as an actor while teaching, doing semi-professional and professional productions in Dublin and surrounding areas. He left the teaching profession to commit full-time to acting in 1991.
Patrick Joseph McGoohan (19 March 1928 – 13 January 2009) was an American-born Irish actor, writer and director who was brought up in Ireland and Britain, where he established an extensive stage and film career. His highest profile roles were in the 1960s television series Danger Man (US: Secret Agent), and The Prisoner, which he co-created. Later in his career, he moved back to the United States and subsequently appeared as murderers in four Columbo episodes, twice winning an Emmy. He was featured in John Sturges's Ice Station Zebra (1968), David Cronenberg's Scanners (1981), and played King Edward "The Longshanks" in Mel Gibson's Braveheart (1995).
McGoohan was born in Astoria, Queens, New York City to Thomas McGoohan and Rose Fitzpatrick, who were living in the United States after emigrating from Ireland to seek work. He was brought up as a Roman Catholic. Shortly after he was born, McGoohan's parents moved back to Mullaghmore, County Leitrim, Ireland, and seven years later, they moved to Sheffield, England.
The Academy Awards, or "Oscars", is an annual American awards ceremony hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognise excellence in cinematic achievements in the film industry as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially called the Academy Award of Merit, which has become commonly known by its nickname "Oscar". The awards, first presented in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, are overseen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
The awards ceremony was first broadcast to radio in 1930 and televised in 1953. It is now seen live in more than 200 countries and can be streamed live online. The Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony; its equivalents, the Emmy Awards for television, the Tony Awards for theatre, and the Grammy Awards for music and recording, are modeled after the Academy Awards.
The 88th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre on February 28, 2016 and hosted by Chris Rock. A total of 2,947 Oscars have been awarded since the inception of the award through the 87th. The 88th awards ceremony has become the target of a potential boycott, based on critics' perception that its all-white acting nominee list reflects bias. In response, the Academy has initiated "historic" changes in membership by the year 2020.

Do zajetí padli hrabě z Gloucesteru a z Herefordu, kolem šedesáti baronů a velké množstv...

In the interview Colm and Ashling speak about how they found out about Órán's condition, the impact it has on them and the struggle they have to fight for some sort of treatment for their son. Informative and emotional, the interview asks people to please be generous and help the family fight for Órán through The Órán Nibbs Fund. Once again we'd like to thank everyone on the Ireland AM team who were very good with Ashling and Colm this morning. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Oisín for setting up the interview and to Sue who generously babysat Órán as he was too upset to go on air with his mum and dad.
