After the remains of the missing 14-year-old companion of Carl Angelo Arnaiz turned up in Gapan, Nueva Ecija with 30 stab wounds, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now hunting down those who are responsible for the teenager’s death.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II gave the directive to the NBI to investigate the killing of the 14-year-old teen identified as Reynaldo de Guzman under Department Order (DO) No. 581 which he issued on Wednesday.
In his DO, the Secretary declared “the National Bureau of Investigation, through Director Dante A. Gierran, is hereby directed and granted authority to conduct investigation and case build-up over the death of Reynaldo de Guzman, and if evidence so warrants, to file appropriate charges thereon.”
“This Order shall take effect immediately and shall remain in force until further orders,” added Aguirre who also instructed Gierran to submit to him the report “on its current activities related to the implementation of this Order.”
Aguirre issued the order after the meeting Wednesday afternoon between Carl’s parents – Eva and Calito and President Rodrigo Duterte and Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida Acosta at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacanang.
“PRRD (Duterte) said to the parents that he will ask the NBI to take over the investigation of Carl Arnaiz killing,” Aguirre recounted in his statement.
“PRRD assured the parents that the investigation to be conducted by the NBI under DOJ Sec. Aguirre will be fair and impartial,” he added.
