Pucón: Ciudad y balneario de la Región de la Araucanía que cuenta con una población de 10 mil habitantes.
Emplazada en las orillas del Lago Villarrica, el atractivo que debe su origen a propósitos militares durante el siglo XIX, hoy es un importante centro para el turismo, con gran crecimiento económico gracias a la industria ganadera y de la madera.

El lago Villarrica o Mallolafquén se encuentra ubicado al sureste de la Provincia de Cautín y al norte del Volcán Villarrica, en la Región de la Araucanía, Chile. Al poniente se ubica la ciudad homónima y al oriente la de Pucón
El Volcán Villarrica es un estratovolcán chileno de 2.847 msnm —2.450 m, contando desde la base— ubicado en los Andes meridionales. Está situado en el límite de las provincias de Cautín y Valdivia, en Chile, entre los lagos Villarrica y Calafquén
Centro de Esquí Volcán Villarrica: Localizado al noroeste del Volcán Villarrica, el centro e esquí se localiza a 1400 metros de altura y es el indicado para la práctica de esta disciplina.
Posee una implementada infraestructura deportiva con 20 pistas para esquiadores de todos los niveles y nueve andaniveles, además de centros de comida y para arrendar equipos.

Pucón (en mapudungun: entrada a la cordillera) es una comuna de la Provincia de Cautín, perteneciente a la Región de Araucanía, situada en el sur de Chile.
Electoralmente integra con Gorbea, Cunco, Villarrica, Loncoche, Curarrehue, y Toltén el Distrito Electoral N° 52 y pertenece a la 15ª Circunscripción Senatorial (Araucanía Sur).
La ciudad de Pucón, ubicada sobre la costa oriental del Lago Villarrica, se destaca por ser el balneario lacustre más importante de Chile,4 con una gran actividad de temporada en la época estival. En su entorno tiene una variedad de atractivos turísticos que complementan sus playas sobre el lago, como centros termales, centros de esquí, parques nacionales, entre otros. El área rural posee el atractivo de conos volcánicos siempre nevados, bosques de fagáceas y coníferas, y gran cantidad de torrentosos ríos algunos de los cuales albergan cajones, saltos, cascadas y rápidos.

We took a week-long trip to the south of Chile (Pucón). Water Rafting, Canyoning, Hiking and Discovering the region of Pucón with a group of a few exchange students from Germany, United States, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria. It was a fantastic experience and we had a lot of fun!

Pucón
Pucón (Mapudungun: "entrance to the cordillera") is a Chilean city and commune administered by the municipality of Pucón. It is located in the Province of Cautín, Araucanía Region, 100 km to the southeast of Temuco and 780 km to the south of Santiago.
Pucón's location by a lake and volcano, along with its relatively stable climate, especially in summer, make it a popular destination for tourists. It offers a variety of sports and adventure/recreational activities for tourists, including water skiing, snow skiing, backpacking, white water rafting and kayaking, horse back riding, natural hot springs, zip line rides, skydiving and guided ascents of Villarrica volcano.
History
Pucón was established in 1883 as a fort in the aftermath of the Occupation of Araucanía when the Chilean state subdued the native population of Araucanía Region. It was a strategically advantageous spot because of its location at entrance of the Trancura Valley, where the Argentinean army had once pursued a group of Mapuches through Mamuil Malal Pass during the Conquest of the Desert.

Chile (/ˈtʃɪli/;Spanish: [ˈtʃile]), officially the Republic of Chile (Spanish: 
República de Chile ), is a South American country occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south. Chilean territory includes the Pacific islands of Juan Fernández, Salas y Gómez, Desventuradas, and Easter Island in Oceania. Chile also claims about 1,250,000 square kilometres (480,000 sq mi) of Antarctica, although all claims are suspended under the Antarctic Treaty.
The arid Atacama Desert in northern Chile contains great mineral wealth, principally copper. The relatively small central area dominates in terms of population and agricultural resources, and is the cultural and political center from which Chile expanded in the late 19th century when it incorporated its northern and southern regions. Southern Chile is rich in forests and grazing lands, and features a string of volcanoes and lakes. The southern coast is a labyrinth of fjords, inlets, canals, twisting peninsulas, and islands.

Villarrica (volcano)
Villarrica (/ˌviːəˈriːkə/ VEE-ə-REE-kə) (Spanish: Volcán Villarrica, Mapudungun: Ruka Pillañ) is one of Chile's most active volcanoes, rising above the lake and town of the same name, 750 km (470 mi) south of Santiago. It is also known as Rucapillán, a Mapuche word meaning "Pillan's house". It is the westernmost of three large stratovolcanoes that trend perpendicular to the Andean chain along the Gastre Fault. Villarrica, along with Quetrupillán and the Chilean portion of Lanín, are protected within Villarrica National Park. Guided ascents are popular during summer months.
Villarrica, with its lava of basaltic-andesitic composition, is one of a small number worldwide known to have an active (but in this case intermittent) lava lake within its crater. The volcano usually generates strombolian eruptions with ejection of incandescent pyroclasts and lava flows. Rainfall plus melted snow and glacier ice can cause massive lahars (mud and debris flows), such as during the eruptions of 1964 and 1971.

Villarrica Lake
Lake Villarrica, also known as Mallalafquén (its pre-Hispanic name in Mapudungun), is located about 700 kilometers south of Santiago in Chile’s Lake District in the southeast area of the Province of Cautín. On its east shore lies the city of Pucón, a major tourist attraction and a popular ski resort, and on the west shore lies the town of Villarrica.
Water sports such as sailing, kayaking, sport fishing and water skiing are popular in the summer due to the lake's warm waters (surface temperatures range from 19 to 22 °C). In winter, the average water temperature is around 10 °C.
The Villarrica Volcano, one of the ten most active in the world, is situated to the south of the lake. There are two Chile National Parks close by: the Huerquehue and the Villarrica. The latter is famous for its natural hot springs.

En esta emisión, Damián Alcázar visita la ciudad de Pucón, ubicada en la región de la Araucanía, situada al sur de Chile. El primer personaje que nos recibe es Max González, quien nos invita a admirar el paisaje del Lago Villarrica mientras nos habla de la enorme riqueza que tiene esta zona en lo que respecta a flora y fauna. También nos acercaremos al volcán activo Villarrica, uno de los más importantes de Chile. Ahí, Gonzalo Vilches nos recibe para platicar sobre este gigante majestuoso. Más adelante, Damián Alcázar conoce a dos mujeres extraordinarias que se dedican a preservar una de las culturas ancestrales de Chile: la mapuche. Ellas son Ana Epulef, cocinera mapuche, y Sandra Rojo, una reconocida artista que realiza telares con vegetales típicos de la zona precordillera de la Araucanía. El Volcán Villarrica es un estratovolcán chileno de 2.847 msnm —2.450 m, contando desde la base— ubicado en los Andes meridionales. Está situado en el límite de las provincias de Cautín y Valdivia, en Chile, entre los lagos Villarrica y Calafquén
Centro de Esquí Volcán Villarrica: Localizado al noroeste del Volcán Villarrica, el centro e esquí se localiza a 1400 metros de altura y es el indicado para la práctica de esta disciplina.
Posee una implementada infraestructura deportiva con 20 pistas para esquiadores de todos los niveles y nueve andaniveles, además de centros de comida y para arrendar equipos.

En esta emisión, Damián Alcázar visita la ciudad de Pucón, ubicada en la región de la Araucanía, situada al sur de Chile. El primer personaje que nos recibe es Max González, quien nos invita a admirar el paisaje del Lago Villarrica mientras nos habla de la enorme riqueza que tiene esta zona en lo que respecta a flora y fauna. También nos acercaremos al volcán activo Villarrica, uno de los más importantes de Chile. Ahí, Gonzalo Vilches nos recibe para platicar sobre este gigante majestuoso.
Más adelante, Damián Alcázar conoce a dos mujeres extraordinarias que se dedican a preservar una de las culturas ancestrales de Chile: la mapuche. Ellas son Ana Epulef, cocinera mapuche, y Sandra Rojo, una reconocida artista que realiza telares con vegetales típicos de la zona precordillera de la Araucanía.
Finalmente, Damián nos muestra el lago Pirehueico, que es una de las rutas más bellas para trasladarse a Argentina.

Travel to the land that time forgot and set out on the journey of a lifetime in Patagonia, where Mother Nature runs the show.
Patagonia, the fabled ‘edge of the world’, spans the southernmost regions of Chile and Argentina and can be rugged and desolate as well as breathtakingly beautiful and inviting.
This last frontier of South America is a colorful mosaic of snow-capped mountains, icebergs, volcanoes, glaciers, forests, lakes and vast steppe plains.
On the Argentinean side, the scenic Road of the 7 Lakes takes you from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura and finally San Carlos de Bariloche, a popular ski resort on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
El Chaltén, in the southern Andes, is Argentina’s trekking capital. Trails lead to Laguna Capri, Fitz Roy Mountain and the fearsome Cerro Torre.
El Calafate is nestled the southern shores of Lago Argentino and is the gateway lake to Los Glaciares National Park. Here, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring glaciers awaits: the Perito Moreno Glacier.
In the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, take the 'End of the World Train’ to Tierra del Fuego National Park or get there by boat over the Beagle Channel. Photo opportunities along the way include Bird Island, Seal Island and the historic Les Éclaireurs lighthouse.
On the Chilean side of Patagonia, the regional capital Punta Arenas attracts visitors with its colonial architecture, cultural attractions and hospitality.
Tour the region’s Milodón Cave, where the remains of a giant ground-dwelling sloth and other huge extinct species were found.
Torres del Paine National Park is great for horse riding or hiking, with its steppes, snowcapped peaks, brimming lakes and Salto Grande waterfalls.
On the northern border of Chilean Patagonia, in the Los Lagos region, looms the mighty Osorno Volcano. The town of Puerto Varas, on the opposite shores of Lake Llanquihue, marks the end your Patagonia expedition.

Pucón is a Chilean city and commune administered by the municipality of Pucón. It is located in the Province of Cautín, Araucanía Region, 100 km to the southeast of Temuco and 780 km to the south of Santiago.Pucón's location by a lake and volcano, along with its relatively stable climate, especially in summer, make it a popular destination for tourists. It offers a variety of sports and adventure/recreational activities for tourists, including water skiing, snow skiing, backpacking, white water rafting and kayaking, horse back riding, natural hot springs, zip line rides, and guided ascents of Villarrica volcano. According to the 2002 census carried out by the Chilean National Statistics Institute, Pucón spans an area of 1,248.5 km2 (482 sq mi) and has 21,107 inhabitants (10,705 men and 10,402 women). Of these, 13,837 (65.6%) lived in urban areas and 7,270 (34.4%) in rural areas. The population grew by 47% (6,751 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. Pucón is a major centre of adventure tourism in Chile. During the summer, tourist attractions include hiking, rafting, horseback riding, bird watching, fishing, canopy trails, and canyoning. Due to its striking natural surroundings, near a volcano and several lakes, nature reserves and thermal baths, Pucón attracts tourism all year round. In winter and spring, it is possible to go skiing or snowboarding on the slopes of Villarrica volcano or visit thermal baths in the middle of the Valdivian temperate rain forest.
Volcanoes
The most well-known is Villarrica (volcano), but other volcanoes tourists can visit include Mocho-Choshuenco, Quetrupillán and Lanín. The 2,840 meter high Villarrica is part of the Ring of Fire that lie around the basin of the Pacific Ocean. It is an active volcano with more than 82 eruptions since 1558; the most recent of which occurred on March 3rd, 2015. Despite this, it is possible to climb it throughout the year, if weather and volcanic activity permit. During winter, the summit is completely covered by snow, and offers views of at least seven of the surrounding lakes.
El Cañi
El Cañi, meaning “sight that transforms”, is a private protected area of 500 hectares belonging to a non-profit organization. It contains hiking trails through ancient Araucarias, Lengas (Lenga Beech), Coigues, old volcanic craters and lagoons. It is administered by a group of young farmers who offer an “eco” alternative to tourism. The park is home to foxes, pumas, pudús (a small kind of deer), wild ducks and condors, among many other species. A view point located at 1,550 meters altitude provides views of four nearby volcanoes: Villarrica, Quetrupillán, Lanín and Llaima.Wikipedia
